To be fair this happens with every general here eventually. People get bored with the game after 300+ hours but still play it and discuss it for some reason. ED is still quite entertaining before then, provided you set up OVRDrop to put a Netflix screen in your cockpit.

The basic Vive comes with a set of earbuds that plug into the headset.

The Deluxe Audio Strap is poorly named; sure, it has some nice headphones on it, but the real improvement is the strap itself. It makes putting on and taking off the Vive way easier, since you don't have to fiddle with the side straps to get the sweet spot on target. It's also a good deal more comfortable, though the Vive still sits heavier on your face than the other headsets.

You should check the bundle you're getting and see if it includes the DAS though. HTC was running that deal around Christmas, and I don't know if/when it ended.

The trackers aren't a consumer product, exactly.
They're being sold basically as a devkit for people to figure out uses for. As a result there's not much of an ecosystem around them for accessories.

IIRC they weren't even intended for body tracking, that's just something VRChat implemented. Valve envisioned sticking them on household objects and gun props to get them tracked in VR.

I'd say it's dead unless an existing manufacturer buys them out and integrates their tech into the next version. Hit N, then look for where it says Clip. Try setting the Start to 0.001 or something, that should be stable enough while also letting you get in close. If that's not your problem there, then unfortunately I don't know enough to figure out what's going on.

Yep. I wanted a Touma avatar, and the only MMD model I could find was total shit. I tried to find rips from the PSP game, and I did, but in some pretty strange formats. One, some guy ripped the stuff himself and put it into a Warcraft 3 model. The other, some guy ripped the model and put it into a Grand Theft Auto model.
I tried to import the Warcraft 3 one and failed for some reason, probably because the Blender tool for doing it hasn't been updated for a long time. This one is the GTA model, which is clearly also having some issues.

Okay, so the trouble seems to be with transparency. You can uncheck Transparency on the material to fix it, though some of the hair goes a bit dark. I don't know if it's meant to look like that or what, but it does get rid of the weird shit. Aha, I found a way to fix it. I think the hair is designed to have transparency so you can see the eyebrows and stuff, but it fucks up somehow in Blender. Maybe it'd be okay in Unity, but I can't be bothered testing that myself.
You can, however, go to the properties for the textures for the two hair materials and uncheck Use Alpha, then go down to the Influence section and uncheck Alpha there as well.

I'm taking a long weekend and wanted to fix up all my avatars and make all my gesture mappings consistent. If I could get some resources on how to fix some things before the weekend starts, I'd really appreciate it:

I'm aware that this is caused by dynamic bones. As such, I've removed dynamic bones from any 'front' hair, but I still have issues with other hair clipping into my vision. I don't really want to set Inert any higher than it already is. I know it might help on some characters to move the vision blob further forward, but it's nice to be able to look down at my body and have an accurate POV for kissu.

2. The eyes in the image. I like this model and would like to use her a bunch, but this issue is pretty bad. I don't know how I'd resolve it. It occurs when I lean in certain directions, somewhat inconsistently.

3. Fixing hands - some of the models I've downloaded have dodgy hands. They look slightly warped when gesturing. Is there any easy-ish fix for this? Weight painting hands/ positioning the bones for the thumb is scary. Might there be a particularly good tutorial video on hand painting specifically?

Sometimes. A closer bone makes a sharper angle when VRChat turns the eye and then the pupil mesh clips into the back of the face/eye and it looks like that. You might need to move higher instead or maybe the clipping is when turning left/right, a couple of adjustments and you'll be able to tell what's wrong.

Firstly man, Kinect is a pretty shitty piece of hardware. It's gonna bug out on you and not track properly, nowhere near as smooth as actual VR controllers would and that's going to hamper how things go in the first place. Second, the game isn't really designed to work with something like Kinect, so you're gonna be standing there trying to hold a controller or use a mouse or some whatever other thing -while- attempting to have the game track your IRL movements.

I was wondering how Dot had a pimped out avatar so quickly after getting VR, and now I see his friends also have them.

I've made a bunch of avatars but only one has a prop (which isn't a trail) and it's broken. Did Dot and friends make these themselves and are all super competent nice and cute people?

My prop is broken - the muzzle flash is always active and the sound/particles on firing it are offset some way off from the the end of the gun. I don't know why this aspect of avatar building has gone so wrong for me when everything else works fine.

I have a model that has something attached to the end of the arm clothing, and it moves with it in blender due to bone constraints(inverse kinematics) its very simple to do in blender and it moves realistically.

When I make it into an FBX it removes bone constraints and it doesn't happen in unity. Is there any SIMPLE way to just pick two targets and have them connected and have inverse kinematics on them like in blender that's on all the time so this can stay attached to my arm, but on unity? This is killing me.

If you want legs and hips in VRChat, the Vive is your only option currently. You'd need to buy 3 Vive Trackers and Tracker straps. Some people also recommend buying the Deluxe headset strap for the Vive.
