make a seperate FBX without any rigging.
go to blender, delete the armature, and save the result somewhere. THEN go to mixamo, and upload that model so that it auto rigs it. (if possible, as i said, sometimes mixamo doesnt like models)

if it works, then you should be able to try out animations as you see fit.

I think the biggest thing holding VR back is its history of overzealous marketing and past failures.
Also from a technical perspective just about everything about VR is new. The sensors, optics, materials, software, even the game engines that run on the hardware is vastly different from what we had in the 90's. AR is also directly correlated to the technical side of VR and it has enormous potential. You can even see some private sector fields already adopting it.

From the description given the new Vive movement/gesture controls sound awfully convoluted.
To do a gesture now you have to what, hold your finger on the touch pad for a buffer period meant to stop accidental gestures, then click the trigger to "register" that gesture, then hold the trigger to use it? Fist is moved from being the trigger to being center of the pad among other gestures (besides open hand). Also movement is now click pad to start walking, click again to stop, for some reason?
Am I misunderstanding something? Too late in the night for me to start the game up again to see.

If that is how it works now, one thing I see it will fix is needing to tie marker drawing to grab, as now you'd be able to use any gesture with the trigger.

So just spent some time struggling with the new vive controls. The ability to move slow is nice, but I feel like I am constantly overshooting when I move now which is annoying. Also took me 20 goddamn minutes to figure out how to get my fist back after assigning a different animation to my trigger, but being able to put my snail on my trigger and then take it off again is fucking neato.

How to put a camera on your avatar:
1. Within your texture folder, create a new "Render Texture" from the drop down list. It should be close to the "material" item. Rename it to something else. This essentially acts as a regular texture that we can use in any material, except it takes the image from a camera feed instead of a static texture file.
2. In your materials folder, create a new material, rename it to something else, set the shader to the mobile unlit one or similar, and then insert your render texture as the texture. You'll want the mobile unlit shader or similar because you probably want it to display like a screen that's still visible no matter the lighting in the environment.
3. To create the screen that our camera will display on, create a simple quad, rename it to something else, and position and scale it how you want. Then put the new material you created on it.
4. Create a camera object under the screen you just created, rename it to something else, and remove the collider component, but make sure to keep everything else or else things won't work non-locally.
5. Make sure you've renamed everything to something unique or else weird behavior may or may not happen sometimes.

Your eye-tracking might have gone berserk, ask other players what they see. On one of my models that had the problem I was lazy and disabled it by renaming all the eye bones.

Looks like an eyetracking problem, post bones, some models have bad eyes after CATS and have to be set up manually. The size and position of eyebones and headbones both relative to the eye(pupil) meshes matters. I can't see the pupils in your picture so I can't tell precisely what's wrong.
