Hey guys, I think I should pop my two sense in here, I have been standing on a sideline about this stuff but I think its important to talk about this. What needs to happen is an official discord for this community. As much as people don't want it, if there was one, and only the one, then people would be satisfied getting in contact with each other for little side games and ect. The more this is put off the more you are going to see these little split offs of discord. VRChat is a game that has limited ways to communicate outside of being in the world with the people. Having a place to talk to on the spot about subjects is a good idea no matter which way you look at it. You guys can keep trying to push it off, but this place has refined into a small community, and people want to talk outside the game without bouncing to the thread. I don't think there are enough people that hate the format of 4chan enough to "stop posting" because they would prefer discord. I chose to speak up about this because I just got crashed in the Morga by somebody and I have done absolutely nothing. Previously I have not talked to anybody about this, not joined a single discord, not even talked about the subject. At this point in time people need to stop throwing shit and start understanding why this is happening.

People want to take extra steps to be social in a game based around being social. You can keep attacking these discords that pop up or you can make a move to implement everyone interested. Until this shitshow blows over ill avoid the meetups, let me know when you guys figure this shit out.

This solves many of the problems really. No one is excluded and you get the abilioty of discord to be a quick list where you can easily talk 1 on 1 with someone.

With 4chan being a good way to have archiving and bigger longer threads of thought for discussion.

Hi, Yuru here.
I've still not completely collected my thoughts on all this discord stuff, I found out a few days ago that discord channels have popped up. I takes me awhile to think things through and form opinions on things, but here is where I am currently.
The main issues I have with the whole thing are that:
a) I think that discords are an inevitability because people naturally want to get closer and will form them anyway, and other people will join them out of fear of missing out, which everyone feels.
b) that discords are naturally exclusionary, even if they are "open" to everyone, people will naturally be left out becauase even though there is a small barrier to entry, there is still a barrier to entry. Either people are too shy or don't want to join a discord and won't join and will be left out. People being left out is bad.
c) discord seems to exacterbate problems with drama and inner circles, which we have been seeking to avoid from the very start.

It's hard to reconcile the fact that I think a discord or discords are inevitable with their downsides.
I think that inclusion and low barriers to entry should be priority #1 for the community, and keeping the thread alive should be priority #2.

Oh, and another thing I think is very very important is that people don't form their own little bullying circles to beat up on people. That is very bad for the community circles, and bully circles will drive people out of the community one at a time because they need targets to stave off boredom. Discords tend to exacerbate this too, I think.

And for the sake of full disclosure, keep in mind that I am from /a/, so I am not as experienced with /v/g discords as many of the others in this thread. I also generally will join discords when invited out of fear of being left out, which is one of the bad aspects of my personality. And I'm little more than a sometimes cute piece of furniture in the community, so you should value my opinion accordingly.

There's a setting for the link box Bluetooth in the SteamVR desktop settings menu. When I had it on my trackers wouldn't pair. All it does is remotely turn the base stations on and off.

Thanks everyone. This shit has finally motivated me to take a break from VRChat. Making avatars and going to the meetups had consumed all my free time but I can feel my urge to play this finally decreasing. Time to catch up on anime.

I have a simple question about this discords killing generals though and I don't know who to ask about it. Please give examples of which generals have been killed due to discords and what games they were about. VRChat is literally a game that is about socializing and making models and maps. I imagine a game with a certain level of playablity and lack of interest over time can contribute to the death just as much as adding a discord for the regulars who stand the test of time. How would VRChat, or rather the growing market of VR games in a general board die from a discord? As it stands VRChat has very little in its content of a playable game, you make the experience with the people you meet and the work you do.

Mesh collider uses the polygons of the object to set the boundaries. if you've built your world out of simple shapes in Unity that's probably fine and you can just put the colliders on your real walls, but if you've joined your meshes in Blender and brought the world in as one huge mesh the resulting boundaries will be very complex, every flower and teacup would become a strangely-shaped barrier.

Similar problem for objects you want players to pick up or drop, if you add a mesh collider they will roll all the time and never stack, so use a box collider instead.
