Why does Unity crash so often when I'm uploading avatars? It's not that big of a deal since it takes me 2 minutes to go in and do it again, but fuck wasting those 2 minutes.

drag the image into unity
select it and under the little tab where it says "texture type" select "2d Sprite"

from there just drag it into the scene, (make sure to rotate it 180 degrees on the Y axis so it faces the vrc cam the right way)

and when you upload the avatar, move the avatar out of the way, and position the image (not the camera) how you'd like so that it appears nicely in the preview.

Do keep in mind though that this isnt perfect and the camera will often capture a bit MORE than what you want, which can result in the skybox being visible off to a side somewhere. you can fix this by cropping the image preview just slightly more than what you'd like, so that if it pushes the image back a little, there's a bit of a buffer of image left for it to capture.

Dummy leg bones basically mean bones that are of the correct name that VRchat expects you to input BUT the bones for the lower hip area are not assigned to any vertices.

copy the armature modifier then apply as shape key. Go into edit mode, make sure you have the basis shapekey highlighted, then select all certs then hit w. Towards the bottom is "blend from shape" hit that then in the bottom left of blender is a window that you can select which shapekey to blend from. Change it to the shapekey you made, make sure its set to 1, and additive iw checked and you are done to go back into object mode to confirm.
This way you dont have to delete all of your existing shape keys

I recently got leg trackers, if any anons have problems with them not working properly, try the armature changes from here:

You'd need to redo all the Unity stuff, fbx replacing method doesn't work after changing armature. VRCSDK will complain about "Left leg not being first child..." this is normal.
This method has done wonders to me and another legtracking anon who had constant problems with them. They also recommended me to set the Y axis to +0.05 in OpenVR Advanced Settings -> Play Space, which fixed my legs floating sometimes.

I also changed my viewpoint after always using the 0.02 meme to about pic related (0, 1.29, 0.06 for my model). Now kissing/cuddling feels much better, can get very close to my partner without constant clipping.
