Even if you don't want to go through all that shit to atlas, you could at least open blender and merge same materials, it literally takes seconds and is easy as pushing two buttons. If you get the refurbished one; it's basically a gamble. It's even more of a gamble depending on the charger you get. I had the EastVita Xbox 360 Kinect AC Adapter which according to one of the amazon reviews was not fully capable of charging it, and was in fact interfering with the kinect sensor. Thankfully Amazon was incredibly chill about it and did a full refund on it and told me not to worry about sending it back. The kinect I got was actually incredibly dusty, so I have no real inclination just how {{{refurbished}}} it was, if at all. You also will probably need to be at least 2 to 3 meters (7-~10 feet) away from it to pick up your body with kinecttovr. I'd honestly just try and get a Xbone kinect, which requires less range I believe and works regardless of light sources. But it'll mean either soldering, buying it modded already somewhere, or coughing up a organ to get the adapter that Microsoft discontinued. Or selling your home for Vive and pucks.

Alright fuck it, I can't figure this shit out with the planes and quads so I'll just try breaking things instead. Theoretically, if you can modify the SDK to do stuff like remove the poly limit and height limit, you could also remove the "blacklists" on certain component types (for example, sprites) right? Any suggestions on how I would go about doing that though? There's no mention of specific components in the sdk, and while you can change the error message from an error into a warning, I think it will still remove the component regardless.

Is there any difference between VRLow and VRHigh graphics settings? I've been switching them around and I don't see any visual difference or difference in FPS really, so I keep it at VRLow. Yeah you just have to do a small amount of tinkering, and also expect not ALL of them to work. For example, alternate start (one of the best mods ever) does not work, and the author refuses to update it in any way, so that's a pain in the ass. Just look up the guides on how to do it, you're basically just copying your plugins.txt over to the newly created Skyrim VR folder in Appdata. I'm having some really weird shit happening to this avatar, maybe someone can help me.

So I've got this blunt, initially I had it set on an animation override to only activate with a gesture. There's also smoke and music that plays. Got in game, tested it out, the music plays, but the blunt is nowhere to be found and for some reason the smoke is buried inside of my head despite it being in front of my mouth in Unity.
So I then decide to unhide the blunt to test if I can even see it in general. This is what happened. Somehow I turned completely invisible aside from the blunt and a headband (which for some reason took on the texture of the blunt as well...). I figured maybe it was just the mirror, but when I went to avatar testing and looked in the camera my body was there, but my head was completely missing aside from the blunt and headband. I thought maybe it was because it was under my head bone in the armature, but when I put it under my hand in the armature same thing happened. Tried re-saving the fbx in unity and importing it in fresh, same thing happening.

I don't really understand why this is happening. I've never had any issues like this when putting objects on my avatar. Any ideas?

I mainly see out of one eye. The other is like, extra peripheral vision. So 3D glasses and things that need the use of both eyes don't do much for me. Since VR headsets use similar tech as far as I know, they're always really blurry. Tried both the vive and oculus, and I can barely read small text. Playing Elite Dangerous gave me a headache, not from motion, but from squinting to see any of the text.

My real question is, does PSVR work the same way? I really want to play a VR game and be able to actually see, not feel like I really need to put some glasses on. It's just the one headset I can't go and try somewhere for myself to find out.

Space grass could be neat if you made it into a sort of transparent skybox type thing with an alternate space texture in the shader. So like, the grass planes themselves are transparent materials, and instead of being textured use a shader that displays a window to a larger perspective-independent texture. That way the grass would have its own cosmic look but not be "loud" enough to detract from the main sky.
That's how I'd do it at least, if you wanted grass without actual terrain. I also think extra props would work. Perhaps a couple more trees? Increase the floor alpha just a bit so that you can barely see the sky through it?

What does "atlas" actually mean? As far as I can tell it has the end result of compressing multiple materials down to a small number. From your image I guess "atlasing" would be making UV maps compacted down in order to make a single material use what would normally be multiple textures? So reducing the size of both your texture and material count through better unwrapping?

An Atlas is a map. You're basically mapping the textures out for the computer, and you make it into a single sheet so it doesn't have to search multiple files for the information it needs.
Since VRchat is very much CPU bottle necked, atlasing reduces the number of times it has to call for files per frame, which reduces the stress on the CPU allowing for people to have better framerate and smoother gameplay. It will continue to be important even if the CPU bottleneck is relieved or removed as everything in VRchat is custom content, so it's impossible for the developers alone to optimize the game.

Yes, because each file is a call for a file. It's better to have a single fuckhuge file than a fuck ton of little ones. The less times the CPU has to call files the better. That's why people say "X is the same as having 10 Y" is true. One person with a total of 20 draw calls, 2 meshes 18 materials, is the same as 10 people with 1 mesh and 1 material. Simply put, always try to minimize the number of meshes and materials as much as you can, otherwise the game will run like shit, even for you since you have to call for your own meshes and materials as well.
I'd say a safe bound if you can't just get 1 mesh 1 material, like if you have accessories or cloaking or whatever, trying to get it to 1 mesh per object, body, gun, rocketlauncher whatever, and one material for each, unless a specific thing needs a different shader, such as a shiny visor.
Right now my Spartan is 1 material, but some shit like 18 materials because I need to atlas it again. With the cloak and a shiny visor I can get it to 5 drawcalls. 1 mesh, body, visor, cloaked body and cloaked visor.

GPU VRAM is what cares about file size and since most VR ready GPUs have at minimum like 3GB of VRAM, often times more, a couple dozen 5mb textures doesn't mean much.

Not necessarily, the textures must already be cached in the GPU as a optimization, draw calls are using texture pointers to "use this texture again". The goal for atlasing is two things: minimizing maximum materials because of unique texture lock, and allow unlimited ability to regroup polygons and their UVs into as any material group for artistic purposes.
