The issue was actually caused by the bones somehow losing their roll values while I was mashing meshes together. No clue why they were lost, but I at least know what to look for and how to fix it.
I fixed that, exported it to Unity, but didn't re-rig the model to the new values before uploading.

And that was the result. Also some shapekey issues added to the awful mix.

I was experiencing this earlier. The unoptimized avatars are getting to be ridiculously common and VRChat needs to reel some of this nonsense in before it kills their game to be honest. Everyone wants physics on their 4 ponytail strands, all 24 pieces of their skirt, has textures that are broken into 30 different materials and avatars that look simplistic but are actually 80-100k polys and the cherry on top is their 5 minute particle effects of over 9000 complete with full 44khz OGG audio.

I will admit I was guilty of the dynamic bone situation, but the only defense I can give myself was that my FPS didn't improve if I was using any more optimized models. I just had a spin on my model made by a dear friend of mine, with atlased models, and MUCH reduced polygons. i recently upgraded from a OC'd 4690k to a OC'd 8700k and it turned meetups from lagland where my game is flickering in and out constantly to where i can sit around and look around without it lagging. i think i noticed the jump from going from a 970 to a 1080 a lot more though i wasnt going to the meetups then but before even not that big rooms of people used to lag me like crazy used to have to pop open the steam menu and close it every once in a while to get it to stop dropping frames

Actually I stand corrected, you got it on sale and do work that could benefit from the extra threading, albeit marginally. But still not too bad of a purchase. Especially since it's on sale.

For people reading this i7 series multithreading feature is ONLY for non gaming tasks like heavy work in modelling in CAD or like he's doing in zbrush or 3ds max, better for streaming or video rendering or baking lights.

Just the camera. Right now we can stick the camera through walls by offsetting the hmd position with values in the advanced vr settings but you can't really maneuver like that. As for the avatars, most people start with an already created model since having to create the model, textures, rigging, then weight painting it is difficult and a large time investment. And that's before setting it up to work well in VRChat and creating gestures for it.
However after the first model most people tend to like getting into taking on more and more ambitious edits as their understanding grows, and a small handful have tried making their own from scratch.

Also same guy who just replied to you, to fully answer your question the 8700k has slightly better bins for single core speed as in more often than not you can hit 5.0 ghz+ but since the lowest binned 8350k is usually able to hit 4.8 ghz (and has hit 5.2 ghz) and the difference between 4.5 and 5.0 isnt even that big, you're better off with an 8600k (hexacore) or a 8350k(basically the same as a 7700k, quadcore) for gaming
