I used to run a i7 8700k with a GTX 1060 6GB and upgraded to a 1080 TI. My frames are about the same with both cards. VRChat is being bottlenecked by the CPU so if you have a decent enough graphics card then consider upgrading your CPU instead.

I switched from that to a 8600k due it being a bit overdue anyway and I went from running grey screen flickering constantly during meetups at 1.0 sampling to consistently having some of the best framerates in any given room, to the point of never even noticing lag during the optimization autism.

It has come to my attention that some people that I trusted decided that they were going to give out my Arc System works shader to people and try to hide it when I was online telling people not to use the avatars that use it when I was online. Surprisingly due to the fact that I came back out of the blue, the people didn't know that I was playing anymore so they were using it freely at which point I caught them red handed.

I don't think I am going to be playing anymore, and this is a final thing unlike when my headset broke. If you want my arc studios shader, here's a link to it. Feel free to share it as you want. It wont work on standard models and requires things that only arc system games have, so unless you're using a model from a arc system game, don't even bother with it unless you're giving it to someone who does

I think teleportation is fine so long as it's quick and easy. The best instance I've seen so far is Robo Recall, where you can both aim directly where you want to go and use thumbstick rotation to quickly pick the direction you'll face. The worst is stuff like lobbing a projectile.

That said, it's only really acceptable for browsing around. Like Steam Home or stuff like that Bladerunner demo. It can get really awkward to use when you're in a hurry and dodging bullets. Especially if you don't have the tracking or fullscale room to do the minor movement yourself.

Depends on the degree of VR. Headset+Joypad would be the easiest but not that great. Adding motion controllers would mean changing a lot of mechanics just for it.

The Forest is a good example. It supports motion controls but only the axe swinging really used it and everything else was laser pointing and button pressing. Now they made it so you can use your lighter to start fires and will probably add more.

VR dev here. Creating VR support for an existing non-VR game can be a massive challenge not just in terms of mechanics, but optimization. Most VR games that do not feature a single-pass rendering mode will require the game to be rendered twice: once for each eye.

I played Orbus until about level 10. Honestly, I give it an A for effort and for being a VR first, but it really just lacks personality and doesn't really reward exploration and risk-taking. It's very much a standard by the books MMORPG with quest chains and uninteresting linear gear progression.

You may be able to do something with final IK depending on the options it give you. Make a secondary 'nested armature' that your model is weight painted to and use a ton of rigid bodies and fixed joints to have it essentially leech inputs from your actual IK-tracked skeleton, then mess around with the final IK settings if it has anything that could simulate lower FPS
Pic related is an example of what I mean by nested armature. You have stuff weight painted to the 'dummy' skeleton. There should be a dl link for final IK somewhere in the archives.
I really need to get off my lazy ass and test if the shit I think should be possible with final IK actually is though.
If final IK doesn't have anything that helps though you could just use an animation to toggle the bones on and off that are in the dummy skeleton so the movement is 'choppy'. Probably on the idle animation. No really work for overrides though but it's a start.
