Brotip: There's a setting in the extra IK plugin that allows you to set the offset on the knees so they don't bend inwards kind of cute af though. If you're using the script to see your avatar in first person, you may need to ditch it for framerate. Also shadowplay seems to help a lot with framerate issues over OBS, unless you're just having the recordings save at a low framerate.

Given the last time I tried a HMD was with a DK1 (ie, 720p panels and zero tracking, plus no controllers), this is absolutely a massive step up. The "immersion" is real, not strictly in the "Oh my god, I'm really here" sense, but more in the "I am completely inside/into whatever it is I'm doing" sense.
And I'm glad I had the pansy settings turned completely off during the entire time I was using it, zero issues with "VR sickness" whatsoever. I tried some other stuff and the "Mandatory teleportation (especially to to pre-defined locations)", "Snap positions to change facing directions (which wouldn't even be necessary with decent tracking)" and "Decrease the FoV even more when moving in game with the HMD that already suffers from massive binocular vision" mechanics can go fuck right off. Despite that Job Simulator was also fun for as long as it took to find all of the combinations of things that can happen, but is still just a Wii Sports tier tech demo with a very limited shelf life.
At this point I'm completely committed to getting a Pimax "8K" & knuckles controllers whenever they release and I have the cash for them, and Skyrim VR (among hopefully more fully fledged games) to mod out the ass for maximum immersion. Had never played Skyrim before that VR session, and frankly I couldn't imagine playing it any other way.

I hope whatever Valve have cooking at the moment can deliver on that, whether as a RPG or some other genre.

World selection is hard.
New worlds are usually unoptimized so it's hard to take the meetup there. We have to change after 15 minutes because the world is lagging, and then people with slow connections get upset because they are spending the whole meetups downloading maps because we're moving so fast to get away from the lag.
So it ends with me making safe choices during busy hours.

If you know of well optimized good maps, please let me know and open portals to them! I'll help you shill the portal and get everyone in it.

I built my current rig with VR in mind (a couple years ago, so a 980 and 4790k), so power's not too much of a problem, but there's no way I'm getting a rift. Resolution and FoV too low for my tastes, not a fan of their tracking solution, and no way I'm supporting anything even tangentially related to facebook.
Like I said, I'm eyeing a Pimax "8K" & knuckles controllers. It's got good weapon variety, and melee combat with actual depth, something 99% of VR games don't have. It can be surprisingly hard to stay alive on the harder difficulty settings. Fun to crank the music up, cut loose, and kill 150 gladiators before ripping your headset off and setting it aside so it isn't water damaged.
