I don't like discord at all, but I have an account for one specific discord that I work on. In other words, it is to stay in contact with people who compensate me monetarily for various non-lewd services I perform for them (mostly mod work, some art commissions).
I used this account to join the discord you guys were having a vote on just so I could vote. That was, until I found that to vote, you had to do so through DM. I did not want my name attached to anything to do with this site, because if there was a single troll here who would send it to my employer, I would likely not receive money from them any longer. Therefore, I did not vote, because I did not feel the voting method could insure my anonymity, something 4chan prides itself on.
I know I could have made another alt account, but I also don't want a million discord accounts floating around either. Screw that. Instead, I put faith in you guys that you'd vote no. I should have known it was rigged from the start.
Sure enough, my fears were validated as the next night, someone posted a list of all 104 voters in the thread. All that it would have taken was that list being e-mailed to people who pay me, and all my hard work for them would have been for nothing.
So I'm certain I'm not the only one that thought the whole thing was fishy. That's why you're facing a backlash against it. We don't give two shits what you do on your stupid little discords, but we're just angry because it takes a rigged vote to get the results you all want. Every single other previous vote had been pretty firmly no, even the ones that tried to adjust the poll answers by inserting "I don't really care" instead of yes/no.

Ok so you know how in shaders you can add emissions yeah? By making the texture file black except for the things you only want to glow. So for example you make everything black except for the eyes. And you know how in the Unity Chan Too Shader there are options to use a mat cap/specular texture to make the avatar shiny and oily yeah? Isn’t it possible to make this work like emissions do? What I mean is can’t you make it so that for the shiny part you can black out everything you don’t want to be shiny? This way I can have only one texture atlas instead of 6 different ones for the hair, skin, clothes etc.
and really optimize my avatar!

It's also absolutely fantastic having that amount of control over the sphere texture, it's way more precise and aesthetically pleasing than having to separate shiny bits by polygons. If it didn't mess up world-by-world I'd be using it on all of my avatars.

Pic related, sphere texture on high intensity on all of the metal bits but masked away on the red parts leaves the screws super shiny looking and the black outlines and such completely dark. Sorry for the small image but I'm not at home to take a better picture.

Here’s the short tutorial on how to make a normal map for your avatar using the latest version of Photoshop that can be pirated for free very easily with a little bit of googling: https://streamable.com/eu1sy

Some notes: you’ll have to experiment with all the values on your own as it differs from one texture to another wildly. The general goal is to get an image with a lot of contrast between the whitest whites and blackest blacks as it’ll help produce a normal map that really pops out. For the Normal Map settings I usually stick to 5 on Blur and 120% on Detail Scale and it hasn’t turned out bad so far so I’d suggest those values however feel free to experiment around, you might find something better.

The two gamer friends I was able to convince to get VR said they wanted a Vive for the "better roomscale" when they both used it in a 2x3ft space and spent +$200 for the supposed advantage of using fucking wands for controllers in VR. League is the only consistent game. They'll play other games like say, dark souls 3, a week or two at most before dropping it completely and coming back to it a year later. I've tried to show them some strategy games but the only thing they'll boot their lives up for is H3VR every couple of updates. They can't be arsed to set up revive to play robo recall or echo arena/combat despite them being some of the most fun competitive VR games out there. actually I should add that microsoft was smart and is actually doing the same thing as valve. They developed a (admittedly quite good and well performing) vr platform then sold/gave away the hardware design. Everyone but samsung used the reference design as far as I know which is why all the controllers look exactly the same. Microsoft is working WITH valve on the steamVR on windowsMR bridge because they have a mutually beneficial relationship with each other. Microsoft has a hardware division but I think they would rather their notebook OEM partners get the heardware into early adopters hands to they can perfect the software before another push to mixed reality. Valve is a big part of why gamers keep using windows or why pc gamers even exist and microsoft knows it. When it looked like MS wasn't supporting pc gamers valve threatened steamOS and then microsoft changed their tune. Vulkan is every bit as good as dx12 and microsoft knows it, so they're doing everything they can to help the company that singlehandedly drives the pc gaming consumers - server hardware is almost all linux now and they're feeling the crunch.

Play with the blending options for the layer once you're done (right click on the layer) and you want to compare it to the other. Use Ctrl+U to adjust the color levels a bit if you feel it's a little off on the comparison.

One of the reasons I prefer HotS over it and Dota is that people in there actually play the fucking game, they don't pore over spreadsheets and attempt to be as tryhard as possible in an RTS where you control 1 unit.
