What examples did you look at? Were they real-time renders? Were they interactive or just canned animations? Were you looking at them on a flat monitor, or through a headset? Just like uncanny valley is worse in motion than still, it's also even worse in VR than flat 3d.

It is tough to capture full body human movement though. All current consumer VR tech uses the 3 available poses (head, two hands) and IK to estimate the rest of the body. There is also experimental stuff like VRChat's 6-point "full body tracking" IK (head, hands, hip, feet) or hifi's 7 point (adds a chest tracker IIRC). Some other individuals are working on their own full body suits, but there's nothing production ready.

What's the vertical FOV on the 2.0 vive basestations? I have mine set up about 2 meters off the ground, facing down at a ~30deg angle, but I wonder if I should face them down further.

In general, I'm still having awful issues with my hip tracker flying off when my foot trackers are fine, pls help. I don't know what's different about the hip tracker, given i've switched the actual hardware tracker with my feet ones many times. My hip even flys off first when I'm laying down so it's not like my feet are less occluded or more horizontal than my hip then. I'm on the rift FBT setups with openvr input emulator 1.3 if that makes a difference.

Loss of tracking doesn't actually cause that. You can cover it over and it will drift, then vanish, but comes back immediately. I accidentally made some extremely unoptimized dynamic bones and wherever I touched them with the collider, it immediately made the hip tracker fly away, which makes me suspect it's a problem with lack of available processing power. I'm trying to find which process calculates the tracker position so I can hopefully give it higher priority than VRChat itself, but I haven't yet worked it out. It might not be possible to fix that way if the same process is also used by VRChat in intense situations.

If you're using a rift/vive hybrid setup, you may be having some interference issues. The IR emitted from the touch controllers can interfere with the IR coming from your base stations. That would explain why the hip tracker would fly off whenever you touched your dynamic bones which I assume would put your touch controllers in closer vicinity to the hip tracker. I asked this in the last thread, however no one answered... so again, does anyone know if there's going to be a first person Diablo/Path of Exile/Borderlands type game coming out for VR (vive, rift, doesnt matter)? I know there's a bunch of puzzle and platformers but it isn't the same as a really neat hack n slash... n shoot?

I been looking around for one and I figured after 2 years there would be a decently fleshed out one. Nothing like getting those oranges, but in VR I think it would be a blast.

So far I've seen Dungeon Knight, but it early access stuff I try to stay away from.

There isn't anything around like that yet, or at least nothing well known. Dungeon Knight would probably be your best bet if you can get over the early access.
And, yeah, it may have been two years, but game development has been abysmal, with very few interesting things coming out. Since any large rpg projects are generally just ports thrown together, I wouldn't count on any loot-based gaming for a while for VR, and any that come out within the coming few years will probably have the Early Access attached to it for a long time.

I get the same feeling. I started to get on less in May. The less I got on, the less I knew any new people that has joined, and the less I felt like getting on to even learn to know them, because at this point I'M the newcomer outsider.

If your dad liked Doom then yeah this is kind of his thing. VR is on the same level as the jump to 3D in games, with a similar developer learning curve as to how to use it. We still haven't yet seen entirely new VR-only genres of game the way that 3D produced the FPS.

Ok, I've fixed the Rift trackers problem. You need to use the motion compensation settings in Input Emulator as someone else suggested, but it's not that exact setting.

'Set zero' freezes the tracker in place when it loses tracking, so you'll just bend around that point until it comes back like a Vivecuck instead of flying. It also returns faster.

The windows MR is an excellent entry-level headset when getting into VR. It's cheap and easy to set up. I got mine on Amazon for $200 and was able to hook it up and play in 30 mins. If your not sure on whether you'll be playing VR a lot(cuz lets be honest, there's not many great VR games out there), I'd say the cheap WMR is a good deal.
