It's a literal ghost town of a VR chat client filled with a shit ton of weird worlds that could be interesting to see. On the order of thousands of these have been created and are just sitting there empty.

Unfortunately as far as I know there are no ways to upload custom avatars so you'd have to run a stock from their customizer. I'll post more towards the end of the week but wanted to get a feel for it now to see if it would be realistic. This would be a fairly fast paced world hopping type thing.

I was really into the exploration scene early on in Vanilla WoW back when the devs left all sorts of easter eggs around the world that you could only access by techniques like walking at a flat wall at the right angle so you could walk along it and exploiting those goblin potions that make you slow fall. VRChat exploration feels like that but a lot more immersive due to the VR.

Trying to get the discord to add a #meetup channel and a bunch of roles like @onward @pavlov @NA @EU @AUNZ @movie @exploration.
That way you can keep that channel unmuted, subscribe to a role and then when someone makes a pavlov or onward server they can @Pavlov @onward in the meetup channel and let everyone that's into that shit know a server is starting. Same can be done for VRChat meetups at prime time so you don't miss the group photos or if you want to try make it to timezone meetups you don't usually go to or if you find out you always turn up too late or too early. Also help people get to Silencens movie days and we organize exploration meetups better.

These are the sensors used in the devkit, but the usb ones are $90 and the wireless ones are $150 a pop so you wouldn't be saving much especially since they will be a lot harder to sync up in the play space compared to vive pucks if you're not an engineer.

Unfortunately that's not how it works, and if you do go with 3 sensors, it will be worse than kinect, if it even works at all. The way these sensors work is by inferring the position of a bone in the chain based on the angular difference between the last bone. Meaning, you'd have to know the position of last bone the current bone's connected to. In the end this means you'd probably need 8 sensors to emulate 3 Vive tracker fbt.

I hate these fucking Vive controllers. The touchpads are passable to shit depending on game. In fact they work the best if they're not used by the game or if they're used as a simple button pad instead. It's weird since the touchpads on Steam controllers work quite well and I expected these to work at least as well.

I'm desperate enough that I got PS motion controllers and PS3 eye cameras. I should have all the pieces together this week for using them as controllers. Then I could use one of the Vive controllers as a hip tracker or both as leg trackers when I get one normal tracker.

SDE is there, but your brain stops noticing it very quickly. It's something VR newbies worry about but won't bother you much with experience. The FOV will bother you much more.

1st Gen VR headsets have convergence but not accommodation. That means your eyes are resting at the long-distance focus point of the built-in lenses all the time and if you're short sighted everything will be blurry as if you're looking into the distance despite the physically close screen. Second gen prototype shown by oculus tracks your eyes and adjusts the lens like an autofocus camera to let you accommodate to near and far objects, but that's 2020 at the earliest.

Also you'll probably want this if you have a weak stomach.

You can mostly ignore it unless you try to focus on small details like text. Most games take this into account by having all the details so large that you don't really notice too much. Higher resolution would be nice but we'll have to wait for the next gen headsets for that.

I got to test out the Varjo headset and that thing was impressive. They have a small high dpi screen in the middle of your view that blends into a Vive resolution bigger display through some optical trickery. For the high dpi region I couldn't tell the difference from real life although you could see quite clearly where the high dpi region ends. They had a nice demo experience with a room filled with all kinds of small detail. For example I could easily read the backs of CDs on a bookshelf some distance away just like in real life. The demo time was short so I couldn't really test the tracking but it seemed ok. They were using the Valve Lighthouses though. Sad thing was that they were going for 7-10k price range with applications in medicine and civil engineering.

This is a really dark scene with a setting called spud turned off and as a result the contrast banding is visible and some of the bright pixels can be clearly picked out. This is almost a full eyeball's worth of vision (missing the top/bottom fifth). That red icon sits in the lower left corner of your vision almost on the edge. if you fullscreen this pic on a 1080p monitor and move your head in until the red icon is at the edge but fully within your sight, you will probably see the pixels of your monitor. Somewhere around 12 inches or so. The SDE is close to that.

Anyone know how to freeze your legs when walking, but still have IK so I can still crouch? I tried making a 2 frame animation with just the legs frozen and replacing all the walk animations in the override controller, but in-game the knees bend in weird directions and the odd thing is that it happens on some maps but doesn't on others. I accidentally tried disabling the animator component on the avatar and that seems to have made the freeze pose work properly, but at the cost of losing all my gestures and other animations.

If the soccer watching tests were any indication, VRChat can sustain 40-50 people in an instance, all talking, with 1k-2k textures, cameras out, at a buttery smooth 45fps, all of this as long as the IK calculations aren't running (no humanoid rigs). That's what they fucking need to move off-core. There shouldn't be any synchronization issues, each IK on a player can be calculated in parallel.

Slightly dragging the tail of the upper leg bone and head of the lower leg bone forward in the Z axis in blender, then reexporting. I haven't done it myself but I've heard it's part of fixing CM3D2 models for FBT as well, since by default CM3D2 bones are perfectly aligned on the XZ axis, so IK doesn't know how to bend. Somebody might have the screenshot that's been posted in the thread before.

I have 4 Monitors, usually run over 30 tabs of chrome open at all times, blender, unity, up to 10 tabs of Adobe Photoshop open while playing Vrchat and both watching a video and steaming it to someone on discord with no issues, crhashes or lag. I have even played World of Warships and Skyrim within vrc with no issues besides low frames in VrChat when there's too many people around.
If you have OC'd your GPU or CPU lower it to a more safe, stable OC. Vrc is good at making the game crash along with your pc with unstable or too high OCs.

I still have my entire game installation of City of Heroes circa about 2010.
