The problem is you'll definitely need those extra sensors, so the options are cybershoes and building pressure sensor plates into the treadmill like a DDR pad. Both replace the impracticality of positional algorithms with simple hardware signals.

Cybershoes only got $231,076 on kickstarter so they aren't even real multimillion dollar company tech like that other faggot needs. However, they're made for sliding over carpets, so it would be an interesting experiment.

Pressure plates can be diy'd and the computer interface could be made by chopping up a stock controller, like how rhythm game players customize theirs. However, it would need a way to prevent stuttering as you lift your feet and making them sensitive, durable, and reliable will take some investment and knowledge.

I can see them doing a Rift Pro that's basically the Quest but not standalone. I mean the Go already has better lenses than the Vive Pro and the Quest will have high res screens just like Vive Pro, for $399. If it releases in 2020 which would make sense given their current 1 product per year history, then I can see some of those components having gotten cheaper/better so it could release for $399 or less. Especially when they don't have to cram a mobile phone into it. I think it would be a good strategy for them because they will still want to be a leader in the PC VR space, in some segment, even if it's not the PC VR ultra enthusiast crowd. By then there will certainly be more competition so they will need to if they want to maintain market share. WMR is already slowly getting better. Now that's also assuming they don't perform a miracle with making exclusives that work on other headsets. When OpenXR comes out and their store supports other headsets, it will be interesting to see if they can get attractive enough software to reel in the majority of other headset owners.

Abrash already implied essentially that eye tracking and therefore most of the other advancements wouldn't be ready until 2022, so we likely won't be getting anything better than even a 1.5 in 2020. However, like I said, it could win out simply based on quality and bang for buck. It might not be the headset you want, but it will be a headset that does well with the majority. Imagine the Rift but with very little or no screen door effect, sharper visuals on titles you can push it on, little to no optical artifacts like god rays, larger sweet spot, perhaps lighter and more comfy, and doesn't require external sensors to be set up (though that could probably work given it's theoretically still the same tracking tech on the controllers). That'd be better than even the newer WMR headsets currently announced.

VGL11 is right around the corner and it's time to start getting the gears in motion again. The google doc that helped form the original /vrg/ soccer team is now back up and running and taking suggestions. We're retiring 5 players so there's 5 open spots for new suggestions. We're also allowed to have up to 6 referees host the VGL11 tournament in every game. I admittedly haven't tried it but I've heard various reports and impressions and it doesn't seem like the lenses are a lot better than the Rift's, if at all in some aspects, while the Go's lenses are widely accepted as just better in every aspect. The weight on it isn't better, and the long-term comfort is as much hit or miss from person to person as I seem to see for the Rift. The Odyssey also is still more expensive and not even being sold officially in Europe.

I think what you've seen lately isn't people splintering off into inner circles, it's just timezones.
In January and February everything was new and shiny and we were all on all the time, so we saw greater portions of the community each night. Everyone logged on as soon as they got home because they couldn't wait to play and people from countries that weren't the US fucked up their sleep schedules so they could be online with everyone else.
Now that time has passed, people are logging on in more reasonable play sessions and at times that are reasonable for them and the result is that we really do see the same people group of 10-15 people every night because those are the people who are on.
Not sure what the solution to this is, especially on a community-wide scale. I'm personally going to try to hop worlds a little more during the weekends to see all those people I don't see during the week.

These work pretty well for me. Lots of fiddling about to get the settings just right but it's still a bit of a shitshow if it takes for every model. The biggest thing I've noticed is that it must not have the head as the root or it does strange things. Making the gravity set to what it is means it will look a bit floaty but if you bring it to 0 it looks too much like jelly for my tastes.
Squird5 is pretty good with tits though I don't know anything about that myself. I'm pretty sure skirts are better being weighted to the leg bones than having dynamics in them.

You just drop the wad you want to use into the folder and add -iwad doom.wad (or whatever you're using) to the line in OpenVRDoom.bat file and launch it from that with SteamVR running.

Maybe the skill of talking to people in real life doesn't translate as well into VR as the two are somewhat different from each other. I mean the actions are almost identical, talking to a person, but VR is different for example in the sense that you are something different, you're wearing something else than your own skin. Trying to fix an MMD model for FBT.
I'm having a couple issues.

First, scaling the legs to be proportional to the human body (as much as my unskilled blenderfu allows) creates a distortion effect when I lift the legs.
This looks like the foot and knee portion increase and decrease in size as the leg lifts.
Is there a way to fix this?

Second, how do I control where the pucks start position is (not using OpenVR advanced settings)?
Some models have the pucks perfect while others have the pucks at the knees.
Lowering the view position moves it but also messes up FBT.
Is there something else the changes where the pucks start position is?
