Karnage chronicles has up to 4 player coop, but the fight mechanics are pretty boring, and it's a fixed ~3 hour campaign, no random generation. The recroom dungeons quite fun though and 3-4 player coop, if you want to run those sometime.

The walking cracks me up, and I agree, I wish there was more to the combat, especially with the enemies. I'd like to have fought less skeletons, or at least them have a bit more health, but for a multiplayer experience it isn't bad. Oculus has their Quest just over the horizon but its a standalone unit and wont actually utilize your computer. Valve also seems to be working on their own headset prototype but we probably wont see that for a long time.
The differences between the Vive and Oculus are negligible. Oculus Touch controllers are much better than the Vive dildos but on par with Knuckles if you can get your hands on them.
Vive also has tracking pucks if you wish to get FBT in the future but they require the lighthouses to function. Some people even have frankenstein rigs of Oculus HMD/Controllers + Vive Lighthouses/FBT. Add in power banks and you can imagine how much gear (and money) these people are wearing.

oculus plays all steamVR games just fine, and there are a few exclusives on the oculus store (though vive will play those through revive as well). The touch controllers have actual thumbsticks instead of fragile touchpads, take AA batteries so you can hotswap them in the middle of a game if they run out, and are pretty indestructible. Oculus also has a really nice desktop overlay system that lets you interact and pin regular desktop windows in VR.

The best way for r/virtualreality, r/vive r/oculus is to use an RSS reader on the top weekly posts, that's how I do it. You should see if you can demo an oculus rift anywhere too.

FBT is a vrchat-only feature where you can buy $300 worth of vive trackers and put them on your hip and feet so you can move your avatar's legs around, dance, sit and lay down. Without it your feet are just planted to the ground. It looks fine if you're standing, otherwise you go into a weird squat. If you see yourself spending long hours in vrchat (like most of us), it's a good upgrade, but I wouldn't base your initial headset decision on it. You can also use FBT with rift, but costs an extra $270 for basestations. So it's $570 vrchat dlc to lay down, basically.

That's a smoothed mesh I'll be using for normals, the base right now is 12.4k but that'll go up a bit once I start giving her some robot limbs. I don't really have plans for a specific outfit yet so I want to give myself the wiggle room for something interesting if I want to, and I haven't done the hair yet either. It should be well under the limit when it's done, but I'm an autist about optimization, edge flow, accuracy, and shit like that which can slow me down. I'm disappointed with how poorly vrc handles dynamic bones so I need to be conservative with those too. I use C4D mostly for the (IMO) superior GUI/UX compared to Maya or Blender. The tools are basically the same as any package.
I don't really sculpt, except for tiny details sometimes, but mostly b/c I hate Zbrush and generally just prefer poly modeling.

My workflow nearly always is just starting with primitives and going from there. I'll block out a model, then toggle smoothing to start working on the high poly model from there until I'm happy. I don't have any secret sauce for polys to aim for, I just work with what looks right. Once it's done I'll copy my mesh and flatten the smoothing on that, make a normal map from it, and apply that to the lower poly model.

I can retopo, but I'm not a huge fan. I just model things with anatomical edge flow right from the get-go, makes more sense to me that way.

Mix in some podcasts and lowkey ADD as desired.

You've been promoting MarvelousDesigner really hard lately. And it worked for me.

maquette is pretty cool. I sketched out this little vrchat map concept in the last hour. an open glass/metal framework house, starting off with an FBT calibration mirror right by spawn, opening up into a piano room, a kitchen-ish area with props, an open deck with a mirror, a cute hanging bed thing, and a sphere with a movie screen in it at an ideal angle for watching while lying down.

It feels like dragging around primitives in unity, but a lot more intuitive because you use your hands instead of a mouse, and you're actually in the environment as you're constructing it. There are some basic included prefabs too like the chair sectionals and kitchen stuff. You can easily clone stamp a bunch of the same thing, like the rods for the metal framework or the ivy on the walls.

Downsides: texturing is really limited, you only get an albedo color. no transparency, no emissive, nothing like oculus medium or tilt brush. And of course it's not very precise, i.e. I don't expect to try to export this out of maquette and into unity. There's no grid, only limited angular snapping. But really nice for prototyping.

We populate over the shown pop cap on the world there are so many of us.
You can join a world up to 2x the pop cap if you're joining off friends, but at the actual pop cap it's considered "full" and won't show for pubbies.
The end effect is that it's basically a friends+ world.
NA does public worlds sometimes in the early afternoon on weekdays, but it's only 2-8 of us at that point.

The issue with that is there are still no VR games with lasting gameplay. You can only play Pavlov for so long, or something like Contractors for a few hours. VRchat has acted like a nice hub to allow anons to go back to, hang out, and talk, then go play other games.If you have played before you know how to jive well with them too. There are just not enough anons with VR to support something else. Until we get a super funded AAA MMO VR game or something VRChat is the dominate game with lasting gameplay. Considering how many have learned about Unity, Blender, and ect because of it you might see that game made in /vrg/, Hell Lavender is coming out because an anon hung out and liked how the environment worked.

I found the entire concept terrifying, but it was actually really comfy. If you're intimidated by it, I suggest you give it a try. The cards can be dumb, but even laughing at a dumb card is something to talk about.

It was definitely buggy though, and I ended up solo a few times. Also UndeadOrb and Reisen were flying around, but at least Reisen was stopping in rooms with 1 person and chatting and UndeadOrb only called me a loser a few times.

Also, mutes are cutes. No surprise there.

Sorry it's not a bug... it's just VRchat limiting us with triggers.
There was no scripting for this map.
It's all pre-prepared triggers for the platforms.
So the more platforms are empty (or people living midway) the more you will be paired with air so to speak.
It's basically round robin where you get paired with all the platforms one by one.

Point of note though is there can be more than one person on a single platform and it will work.
