Beat saber is one of those games that really show how crazy it is how our body adapts to certain things.

Just got done with 40~ish minutes with Sword of Gargantua beta, only solo up to mission 10 when the game makes it clear you'll need others to help out.
So far it feels great, very much like a VR Monster Hunter. Though to be fair I'm a Monster Hunter nut so a lot of what I felt is pretty biased in that manner, and thus I'll try and curtail some of my bias.

The first few stages have been arena-based with weapons scattered about, with waves of enemies spawning that are both triggered by enemies dying and time. Each one has a different AI which is pretty nice to see, with variants having different moves. Most basic attacks you can block with a shield or parry, but weapons have durability so it's not a forever thing. Some big attacks are unblockable so you have to actually get out of the way of those. After that you get a chance to counter attack with a little weak point to hit for added damage. Pretty simple stuff, but very intuitive and fun to do when in the thick of things.

My biggest qualm so far with it has to be the dash system. You hold down a button (Left trigger in Rift's case) and then move your body in the direction you want to dash. However it's not always the greatest at getting that since it's the headset's position off of the center, so sometimes you're going all over the place. That and it's very disconcerting to suddenly lurch forward in some direction.

Also, make sure to turn off the vignetting in the main options menu. I hate that shit.

I think it's a user problem moreso than a technical one.
I went back and tried it again and had a much more reliable time using it the 2nd time around.
More of just getting used to going into dodge mode then moving my body instead of the other way around.

Yea the dodging is definetly hard. I have poking with swords and swinging the mace down and can max the distance and get solid hits. I can also block most attacks consistently but holy shit do I need to get used to dodging. I also need to be constantly aware of my play space so I don't lunge my skull into my cement wall which i already did with my thumb the first few minutes of swinging the sword.

3d graphics triangle thingys are facing one way only. if you want some inside, you need to add another triangle thingy inside. when you'll build something correctly (so it's a closed object meant to be viewed from the outside), blender should let you automatically align all facings to face the right way with some kind of a button.

you can use that to practice dodging, it's not that bad once you get used to it and figure out optimal movements for yourself to activate it

Yeah its pretty fun, lots of weapons to play with too(Theyre unlocked through a mission star system similar to robo recall if you ever played it). The online is also better than I thought it'd be minus the occasional random that falls over and died 30 seconds into the game but that just makes it more hectic than anything else.

Only complaint I have is that you're moving around alot which caused me to bump into walls more often than I'm used to but thats more of a problem with me and where I'm playing/how my sensors are setup than a issue with the game.
