I have no idea how big /vrg/ is but the screenshots and events posted in the thread are easily identifiable as people who are also active in the discord. Thread lurkers are impossible to count but everyone who joins meetups and games that I've seen is in the discord. There is only one exception to this who joins some pavlov games, doesn't go to meetups (at least in my timezone), and isn't in the discord to my knowledge but was in the previous discord as a goodboy.

Just finished reading Ready Player One, it was a pretty cool book and is way more cyberpunk, realistic and fun then the cut down movie aimed for kids.
The true future and the book won't be exact copies of one another but our world and VR is headed on a parallel path. It touches on how society will change as people isolate themselves to their homes to escape into games and fantasy a lot which is already happening, and it talks about some tech which is VR related which it looks like we will get. Like from the book we already have VRbrap sniffing devices being made, the full body haptic Tesla suit is meant to be out this year and I know for sure we are gonna be getting sex dolls that integrate with our VR and games within a decade.
10/10, definitely recommend to /vrg/ and VR enthusiasts, there's audio books too so you can listen to Will Wheaton read it to you as you sit in VR.

And jittery tracking is least of my problems, biggest is lack of touchpad which means i have to tilt/move right hand controller to walk around, and that makes shooting and running almost impossible. Also, when i want to rotate (and i have to rotate because tracking doesn't work all that well unless i'm more or less aiming in front of my desk), buy menu pops out, so i can't rotate and shoot if i'm in the buy zone because buy menu covers my sights.

I dunno, i guess i enjoy cars a lot. Cutting my times, improving, learning new things, racing against people online, it's just fun to me. Assetto offers especially wide variety of fun, you can have normal track racing, you can have meme touges, nurburgring, you can drift in tandem on a russian drift track, this game has lots of content available around. It's also cool how my vidya experience and irl experience somehow complements each other, i've got faster after learning something on the real life track, i've got faster in irl gokarts after driving ingame gokarts. Makes you feel like it's somehow important skill.

I don't do it when i don't feel like it though, i actually haven't been playing racing sims for a while recently. It's a long-term hobby, i don't feel like doing it every day, but i become faster and faster every month. It's okay not to do it daily and religously.

I use it with Assetto Corsa, it works well. Not as good as an actual wheel, but you get the fine control plus the ability to quickly countersteer, which is a huge improvement over a thumbstick. I bind the pedals to the triggers and joystick axes on the touch controllers, shifting to the buttons.

as someone with strong phantom sense, I think it's possible to a point. suspension of disbelief is a big factor in it! if your brain doesn't think that something is there, you'll at most feel a slight amount of pressure or tingling.
speaking of, getting touched or rubbed doesn't feel "real" necessarily, the three big ones I've encountered are tingles, pressure, and heat, the latter being the least intense.
the only advice I can give you is live in the moment and focus! let your instinct take over and focus on the shape, size, and (possibly) texture of whatever is touching you and where. how it would feel, if it's living or inanimate, etc. if there's any way to "train" it, I think that would be the way to go.

Your avatars can be quite different it seems, as long as you use the same armature/scaling for the two versions. The PC version of the maid avatar is my normal maid, while the Quest version is a very low poly box based robot I attached to the armature that my main model uses.

Yes, duplicating the project was a pain in the ass and it took a long time. It was also kind of pointless since none of the contents of my existing project are quest compatible. I really should have just made a new project and put the vrchat SDK into it.
It would be better if there was just a button we could check for a quest avatar.

I also would like a button that I could check that was something like "use this avatar as the quest version for all future uploads". The way it is now, I'll need to upload a new version of my quest bot and attach that ID to any new PC version avatar I upload. I'll end up with dozens of copies of the same Quest upload unless they change the system.

I just got an idea... you know how it's hard to make a proper walking controller without having you walking around your room bumping into things? well, what if instead of vertical tracking or finger controls, you were to use a bed-like thing, maybe with a net-like structure similar to hammock chairs, where you can lie on so it can track your leg movement with almost much detail as normal trackers? of course, you could also complement it with leg sensors as usual.

Pic related, a reference. This is obviously not very safe, but it shouldn't be too hard to make a safe alternative with the same base concept.

Wold be highly interested in a breakdown of the pros and cons of each weapon type.
With my brief play through of this:
1) Swords are basic easily comboable 35 ish damage
2) Mace need faster harder swings to actually deal damage 48 ish damage
3) Rapier needs a thrusting manuever from a good distance to register its max damage 50 ish damage BUT has a multiplier on critical exposed areas and weakpoints and can easily deal 100+ damage on them
4) Daggers are only about 25ish damage but need only to be waggled to reach this damage cap so you can slice super fast and hit and run.

2-hander does paltry damage (20 on a full swing) when used in one hand, but then big dick damage (100 on a full swing) when used with both hands.
So it's quite nice in that you can let go with your off-hand, enchant the sword/pick up a shield for a block/so on, then grab it again without having to scramble to pick up what you dropped.
