Alright anons, this week Serious Sam is going to be dropped, at least for a while. To quote, the editor's navigation for those who do not have a PHD in their engine, is like swallowing sandpaper for hours. Until a better guide can be found it is no longer going to be the focus. Just going to spend the time working on regular models. Things are not going to have much of any direction this time, the wagecage has been really strong. This has made it so model work has not been done, got a lot of random things to do, so workshop will be freeform random junk. Hi vrg, I've set up a small vivecraft/minecraft server, vanilla 1.13.2 (the latest version vivecraft supports). I've been playing around with some server plugins and decorating the spawn region, and I think it's ready for prime time. It'll be up 24/7, but I'm trying to gauge interest for a "grand opening" of sorts. Just a coordinated time to get people in the server, since it's always more fun to explore in a group. The installation is pretty easy, you just download the .exe and it sets up a launcher profile for you. The controls kind of suck by default though, it's set up for teleport movement. There are a ton of settings to twiddle and fully rebindable keys, so I managed to set it up with VRchat-like stick movement and turning. I recommend playing around in singleplayer with the controls to find something you like

I started using ogg in worlds and avoiding anything but streaming player on real streams since this isn't something vrchat can control.

I can't be the only one to have no noticeable difference in frames between having all users blocked and completely turning off all safety settings. Like the game runs shit at any point. I didn't even have any performance increase from setting dynbones to 0.

Yes hi, I ran the session the other anons were talking about. I was making a world for it but I forgot key features and we ended up using a public world, which was really good, but I'm still working on my own world where the floor is a battlemap grid and people stand where their character is in combat, but that might actually be stupid and nobody knows because nobody's tried it yet. The best way to play tabletop ingame is still being determined because we're all a bit antsy on what, when, where, and how to run the games.

I tried it when I first played vrchat over a year ago. Some dude made a world to match his d&d campaign and we would run around with giant oversize dice acting everything out using the landmarks whilst he acted as dungeon master in desktop mode. When our friends would join during a game he would work them in and make them into enemies and npcs.
It was a heap of fun.
If it's taking too long to make a proper grid map my advice is to not be to autistic about it you don't need exact grid positions just make a world that matches your campaign in theme, props and locations. Or have some kind of yardstick prop to measure movement distances or just make people take "steps" and give a rough estimate of steps between landmarks.

It is 130 waves BUT the enemies actually have different attack patterns. And it gets progressively harder and they sprinkle in new enemy types once in a while to the pool.

There is also a multi-player mode but that is not the main content of the game.

I converted a vroid last night down to 6850 poly and it doesn't even look scuffed, though I'm sure I can do better and improve it further, so I'm gonna do it again and make some armature modifications for better ik with vrchat's unique setup.
I have many friends on quest now (I bought a few for friends too), so this is really important to me.
Keep in mind that Vroids are 22k+ poly and 15×4+ texture & material sets with sphere maps and normal maps. You can use all those on quest with "standard lite" and being smart about atlasing them into three separate files, and you can even have emissives. Just make sure to uncheck "compress" and use material combiner manually.
They're excellently set up for PC, even if you just use them as a body shape to attach hair and clothing to. If you modify the textures, they can look very unique. Use them as a stepping stone to do your own mesh work. I use them because I don't have much time for full scratch models, just a few hours now and then and they're a great base for that kind of thing.
Doing good/unique hair on a vroid IS a skill though.
Quest is less limiting than you may think. Honestly the most annoying part is no transparent z or double sided normal faces, so you need to duplicate meshes that you can see the interiors on and flip the normals.

Really there's not enough options or sliders but they built a really good hair drawing system.
You can do the same thing with metaseq and it'll even do bones for you but they tend to be higher poly and they're not vr optimized, and vroids are with expressions and a serious focus on full body ik.
They make good base meshes even without many modifications, and the head is a solid watertight mesh rather than a ice cream scoop shape, making attaching hair easier.

Secondarily, and almost more importantly for customization the UV maps are all done in a very smart cylinder map, so you can see both sides of the face and they are projected in a way that makes drawing new textures easy. V-Katsu allows you to export a VRM/GLB if you pay them http://www.i-vr.shop/index.php, and the models look good with decent customization, but they're a little slimy with the details. They also have a android app. A "ticket" is more expensive than a high end booth model, ¥ 5,000.
If someone worked out an easy to use ripper for it, I would be willing to streamline a workflow for them to get them under 10-20k for vrchat. I might even join you guys for tryhard wednesdays one of these days but I have a lot of obligations unfortunately.

Ready player One depicts basically best possible current generation endgame of vrchat.
There is clubs, full body tracking with finger tracking, sensor suits, schools, custom avatars and "makers" who work on models. There's an in game currency that has no real world value but people treat it that way anyway.
The only thing vrchat is missing is a crypto tied to the in game objects, but they need to deal with copyright first.
In ready player one, it seems people just gave up on copyright, or, they gave royalties to likeness and model creators. Who knows.
The point is that VRCHAT itself, or something similar (like sansar and high fidelity dreams to be, or sinespace, whatever) will, beyond a doubt, eventually reach a state where "virtual spaces" replace physical offices.
You can have infinite screens, unlimited space to create, and access to virtual tools to replace physical ones. Most manufacturing is done in 3d modelling and ALL high tech electrical engineering is done in 3d circuits now.
Working and going to school in VR just makes sense once the tech catches up. We have cloud streaming services that can replace the need for high end local servers.
VRChat is just an early alpha of what will eventually become commonplace.

It CAN be taught the basics in 1 year, however. It still requires the skills of a pen and paper artist to make it look good in your own style, usually you don't produce a "wow" for a good 24 months.

I think oculus might also want pcvr people to get a rift S instead of damaging the perception of pcvr.

If SteamVR wasn't hot dogshit, if Revive wasn't coded by children, and if Valve weren't cunts, I'd just shrink my trackpad virtually and add some edge buttons. I'd remap the system button to a shift toggle for less pressing commands. I'd utilise the analog state of the trigger, use grip as a modifier, even with how restrictive the Vive controllers are, you'd honestly be shocked at what you could map to them if they weren't so closed down.

Some games required specific ATI video cards, or Matroxx. some games required a certain speed cd-rom drive. some games required a mouse to play or a serial joystick/gamepad and when Win95 came out a bunch of shit required that for no reason. same thing with 98. you could even regedit fudge it and it would still work. You just don't know what you're talking about.
