Weird fringe cases aren't the majority of users and with weird fringe cases I mean people that run around with 20000 dynamic bone checks, 2million tris and 50000 tri mesh particles. Yes this objectively affects the performance massively. Some of the biggest problems aren't even affected by this change at all. Like people using fur shaders (tessellation) which increased the complexity of objects dynamically and causes massive lags.

A normal lobby with people with normal usual avatars will not make your game lag any more than it would be with all of them being greymen. VRChat will always run terrible and will continue to do so and there is nothing the users can do about it neither with optimization or anything else. It's entirely the fault of VRC being a piece of shit noodlecode on an ancient Unity version.

yes, that's what I use. It's a little janky and may be broken on the latest windows update (vjoy is unsigned or some shit), but it's far better than a controller or joystick IMO. Not as good as a physical wheel, but definitely improves the experience. On the rift touch controller, I have accel bound to right trigger, brake bound to left trigger, clutch bound to the right joystick Y axis (you pull the stick down to clutch in, feels surprisingly natural), and shift up/down bound to the left buttons X/Y.

Hi, I'll offer some advice on how to host stuff. I don't think I'm special or that people play because it's me, I think it's just a matter of technique.
1) Like that one anon said, persistence. Shill hard and don't give up if you occasionally host and it's dead. I ask repeatedly and shill however and wherever I can until the game is full.
2) It can be helpful to have a few buddies you can depend on to always show up to your lobbies. It doesn't have to be inner circle, just ask the regulars or let them know that I'm thinking about hosting a game.
3) Giving people lots of notice that it's going to happen. I try to let people know that I'm planning on doing a game.
4) Make sure everyone is having fun. This one is big. This is why I am always whining about team balance and being nice to people. Pavlov is a zero sum game and you need people who are going to show up and play even if they aren't the top of the team. Those are the people you need to fill the lobbies, the ones that are good and dominating will show up anyway.
5) Some of you don't like discord, but it's a great way to get people to play. Pinging and DMing are useful tools.

Pavlov has been a bit dead lately because the server is dead. I feel bad when people are left out. I really liked having no pop cap.
I also am still human despite my robotic autistic exterior and don't like it when things are negative or hostile and am less likely to host when people are being assholes to each other or to me. I also get discouraged when certain people give me a hard time for doing basic things like kicking randos or trying to make sure everyone is having fun.

So basically, anyone can do it, I'm not special. It's all about persistence and technique, and it really really helps to have a few people who you can go to when you need players.

It might, but honestly I found it quicker and less messy to simply chop off the old meshes feet, stitch the new feet on, and redo the weight painting since there's only like 2 spots that aren't just all red. You can just look at and replicate what your new feets weight painting looks like on their original model easily enough.
