Okay, new event announcement!

We're going to do an EU vs. NA pavlov world war event! I'm still in the planning phase, but the details I have are as follows:

It will take place on a weekend during late EU / early NA hours, as this is the best overlap between the two timezones.
There will be an avatar event that accompanies it, tactical/operator avatars.

The game itself will follow this format:
Either best 2/3 or 3/5, leaning towards 3/5.
We will alternate between using the NA and EU community servers. Coin toss will decide where we start.
We won't be too strict on who plays for each side, if you're an American regular that plays mostly on sparkly, feel free to help them.

a couple of issues I still need to figure out:
How people get on the proper team in the first place
How to balance the teams numerically

But some level of presence is better than no presence at all. If a method of control doesn't satisfy a personal minimum level of desired presence, it doesn't make sense to me to forego that level of presence altogether, despite how unsatisfying you might find it. I find aiming weapons with hand tracked controllers to be more satisfying and immersive than any other method of control. I don't think it's something that can be replaced or ought to be replaced by a lesser form of control.

I don't think anyone disagrees that there is value in total immersion, but I think there's something wrong with seeing immersion as a binary thing. I don't think you either have total immersion or you have no immersion. There are experiences that are more immersive than others. We've described many video games before the advent of VR as "immersive" and compared levels of immersion between different titles. It seems to me like you're saying that unless you're going for total immersion, there is no reason to use things like hand-tracked controllers unless they fully utilize their capabilities.

I don't disagree with that statement as an ideal, but to refuse to use hand-tracked controllers on the basis that they don't achieve 100% presence on the basis that somehow anything less in abhorrently detrimental to immersion is a strong stance. At the very least you could admit that it's a strong stance, but if you can't see that then I don't know what else to say. Immersion is dynamic, and yes, more immersion is superior to less immersion, but less immersion isn't totally unacceptable to the point where you should default to completely non-immersive controls.

That being said, something like Quake VR is fun. When I play it I feel immersed in the game. The dark areas are oppressive, the enemies are unrelenting, and the powerful weapons are cathartic. I don't disagree that being able to, say, drop the weapons, throw them, and use my hands to directly interact with the environment wouldn't be better, but I don't see how that makes the way the hand-tracked controllers are used right now absolutely pointless.

I never realized how great ACOG sights are before I started using them due to AUG full auto. Just aim with both eyes and ACOG works just as great as red dot. If you focus you can look either see the magnified or normal view. You can kind of see the sights overlaid on your normal magnification view and just point the ^ at the enemy and pull the trigger just like with RDS.

Dust2 Terrorist B Tunnel Guide

After buying equipment, immediately run towards tunnels, jumping over the ledge and prepare to enter Upper B. At this point in time, CTs can make it to the stairs on the right leading to Lower B.
The lead man should throw a flash bang into Upper B, or directly above the stairs (not at, since they could still escape).
Be warned that this WILL warn the Cats that you are at B, and they will begin to rotate accordingly.

The lead man should run forward, keeping his eyes on the Upper B tunnels exit to B site. Immediately, two things should happen. The man behind the leader should strafe with his gun pointed to the stairs to immediately right to engage any CTs that appear after the leader's flash bang. At the same time the flash is thrown, the third terrorist should prepare a frag grenade and toss it towards the stairs. If not fragmentation is available, simply aim in the direction of stairs.

All 2 remaining terrorists must be ready at the side of the entrance to B
At this time, another flash should be thrown by the leader into the entrance to B to discourage anyone trying to rush, quickly to retain numerical advantage. One of the remaining terrorists should also throw a smoke grenade as hard as they can at the wall of the tunnel, bouncing off to land in front of B platform.

After the flash, the remaining terrorists should clear the entrance tunnels. Tthe leader must carefully bounce a flash off the outer wall (Left from T side) into B site, making sure to clear the car boxes to flash anyone at car. I finally "learned" Waifu Sex Simulator. The janky as holy hell UI was the only thing standing in my way of enjoying it. I get people shitting on it for the bad models, but the VR and physics means my brain just sees titties. It reminds me of when I was a kid downloading female models for Gmod then putting them all in lewd poses or setting up POV shots.

Just being able to hot swap all these pre-fab models and animations is great. I said before I wish someone would set up an equivalent to a game/program like this in Source. Source Film Maker already has endless animations. I would probably destroy my balls being able to see them in real time and in VR.
