That said you can still play solo if you update through mod assistant pretty much everything already works again. It's just MP that relies on harmony as it still hasn't updated to use the new libraries.

There's no head to head racing. The multiplayer is just a community leaderboard that you compete for points on across a season of races.

I'm kind of torn. I'm aiming to spend roughly £2000(/$2,400) on a new rig and a VR headset, but I'm not sure how to distribute the funds. Half to the computer and half to the headset? Or go for a £500 headset and get a better graphics card?

My only experience of VR is my PSVR on a standard PS4. I'm just worried that I'll buy the cheaper/mid-range headset and see very little visual difference and like I wasted my money. Fuck, I'm worried about that spending even more.

I'm leaning towards the latter option, as I can always upgrade headsets a year or two down the line as new ones come out and the prices drop, but that extra money could future proof the PC itself for a long time.

It is definitely a better headset, but the controllers are a little worse than rift, especially considering how many reports there are of broken thumbsticks. When/if valve sorts out their shitty hardware and drops the price, then you can consider upgrading.

The $300 WMR headset OP is talking about is the samsung odyssey+, which has a really good screen for the price resolution-wise and FOV-wise, especially compared to PSVR, and of course PCVR generally can support better graphics. I wouldn't really call PSVR gen 0.2 since it at least has 6dof tracking, but that's just semantics. the "generation 2" headsets we're all waiting for won't be out until 2020 at the earliest, probably more like 2022 according to oculus' chief scientist. There the expectation is an actual feature gap like eye tracking and varifocal, rather than the incrementally better screens we've seen with valve index.

Was going to suggest just upgrading the graphics card for now, but that processor might be a problem if you're only running it at 4.1.

Depending on part prices, you could probably swing a kinda future proof rig and an Index within your budget, but you're probably better off just dumping more money into the computer for now. The Index is better, but not really $600 better, so it's hard to recommend to someone that's new to VR.

Yes, roomscale 6DOF tracking on headset and controllers is basically what "generation 1" VR means. generation 0.5 was stuff like the rift DK1/2, and phone VR (which is only 3dof)

Been playing a bit of Take and Hold in H3VR lately. It's shockingly good fun, and genuinely actually leans on your H3VR-based gunnery skill and weapon knowledge. Looking forward to when Anton adds the new grenade launchers, bayonets, and muzzle breaks to the item spawner and by extension T&H - could really use them sometimes. Tried out an M16A1/M203 in the Proving Grounds and it's pretty damn useful. Bayonets are also somewhat useful too.

This. PSVR, Quest, and to a lesser extent the Rift S, are growing the community, but we are still in the tens to hundreds of thousands and a long time from any 'title' being able to sell over a million units.

Even the bigger YouTube promoters and influencers who deal in VR tend to be in the tens to hundreds of thousands of views. UpIsNotJump is the biggest I've found, and half comedy, and his video views push nicely into the millions with the caveat that many are likely normies who find him funny and don't actually have VR and rewatches.

So how bad does VRChat work with Proton

So I am rigging something here in Blender for VRChat and I am following a guide. It mentions I need to make IK Bones which, from what I can tell, are used for animation and posing.

Since this is for VRChat and the movement is all done by people and not me, do I need this?
