I'm trying to set up a thing with ffmpeg to batch convert TV series into a vrchat compatible format using my two video cards in my system. Problem is that before I work on setting up the fun part of parallelizing the workload I have to figure out what's the best quality I can have in vrchat with what they actually support. I know they can't have subtitles as a separate file and it must be embedded, but so far all of my results have not worked when they were uploaded to my vps. Anyone know where I can find this info or what the supported formats are?

it'll work for embedded .mkv subtitles. the filter syntax is slightly different for external sub files. note that crf 28 is actually pretty low quality, but I've found it still looks fine through a headset, so I prefer smaller files. You can crank it up to 18 "visually transparent" if you want though.

For batch converting I just have this wrapper script https://pastebin.com/LTEPNtQg to pull out the episode numbers. That way I have simple filenames like anime01.mp4. Even on a old celeron processor, a 23 minute episode will encode in about 10 minutes, so I just set it an forget it. Not worth messing around with gpu encoding.

yeah I can always set and forget but I wanted to set it up to work with hardware encoding for the sake of learning anyway. My guess is that format=nv12 is incompatible with what vrchat can play and nv12 is the only way h264 can be encoded so I guess gpu encoding is out of the question anyway.

As leatherman says, It's so fucking deep. You cannot get the screens close enough to your eyes without possibly cranking the headset incredibly tight. Taking the faceplate off gives a much higher FOV and removes the huge pressure from the front of your face (from the super tight face-plate).

The foam also gets incredibly itchy very quickly and the design is such that you have to loosen and move the headset off your face in order to actually scratch, which I need to do constantly because without the faceplate, all the weight is handled in the halo headstrap.

Vive gets shat on a lot for the controllers but as far as it goes it's still better than quest and wmr for the tracking and compatibility alone. Screens good, controllers are meh, tracking is good, can upgrade in parts to index and full body without going through the nightmare of hybrid setups, revive works for most rift exclusive games. I haven't had the chance to compare it to the s but I cannot see why anyone would recommend a quest especially since the thing the shills say is its best feature isn't even out yet. Now that the cv1 rift isn't being produced I don't really know what to recommend. It was the cheap way to get into vr but now it's gone and there's either inside out tracking or megabux to choose from. Vive is probably the best still available middleground for getting into vr without being too cheap or too expensive. Still costs a hundred bucks more than it should but eh.

It's that easy. My vive started second hand, I've had it for over a year, slept in vr plenty, played beat saber and blade and sorcery tonnes, and have never had a single issue with any part of it. Hell the only person I know of that has been through 3+ sets of controllers uses a rift.

I never hit my controller once seeing as I have a 5m by 4m play area, the thumbstick simply fucked up, the same way you would see a thumbstick on a console gamepad fuck up after years of use, this one only took a month and it died on me

there's literally zero way I could be the one at fault, thumbsticks are shit by default but the index controller's thumbsticks are the worst quality imaginable to die after so little use

and seeing how it's not just bad luck and seeing so many people complaining about them (especially about the thumbsticks) I am already ready to send the other one for an RMA the second it starts acting up as well

I don't care how good they are on paper, valve obviously tried to go the jew way and asked for some low grade chink factory to make these things and now they're having to RMA left and right because of it
it's rather insulting seeing as the index is seen (and is, to some extent) the 'premium' option for VR

I have played lot's of Pavlov and see H3VR recommended alot.
How is the ai? The game modes? Etc?

As a noguns with an interest in firearms I was expecting to enjoy it but the complete lack of any gameplay direction lets it down. Most of the minigames/gamemodes are trash or undercooked. Take and Hold is a decent concept but the only variety is entirely in the guns, the bland environment and enemies will feel the same each time and that really grated me.

it's the first game in my life i have ever refunded. terrible controls, guns don't have any more "feel" than pavlov ones do, gorillion cool licensed weapons won't matter much when you have nothing to do with them. i'd rather shoot bots in pavlov even though bots in pavlov are tremendous turds and they seem to be hardcoded to not attack you for the first five seconds after spotting you somewhere

Probably not for you then. That's the main appeal for me is Take and Hold, which is alternating between holding control points, moving to supply points, and collecting random guns and items (there's over 400). It has the same replayability as games like Faster than Light. There is a story mode RPG, but it's really bad currently, and I doubt it will really be improved with the update this week.
