Does anyone here have a WMR set? I keep running into an issue where if I close the Windows Mixed Reality Portal app, I can't get the headset to turn back on at all. It's detected by both Steam VR and the WMRP app, but the HMD stays off and won't turn on. Unplugging it and plugging it back in doesn't fix it, so I have to reset the computer, which is a pain in the ass. But I also don't want to just leave the Portal app running all the time, because it hogs resources even if I'm not using it.

What do.

Could be, though I suppose it will depends on custom content. I think it might be easier to create custom beatmaps for it, because you don't have put so much effort as for Beat Saber. I really like the idea that you only use one controller. Using handguns with one hand was awful. Index made it slightly more bearable, but this might be the first game where you can go completely ape if you like handguns more than anything. I tried, quite a while ago, but they're quite high-poly, weirdly rigged, and don't look good without the specific shaders used in the DOA games.
You might do better ripping the DOA2-DOA4 models that are flatter and more anime-style than the DOA5 rips that are easily available as XPS files.

Any kind of BCI, whether invasive or non-invasive, that truly reads your thoughts, must be either open source and/or subject to government regulation, in the US. However, I do not believe that people actually will trust their government enough to just trust them on their word that a certain BCI poses no risks. I think that open source may be the only way, and from how I've seen companies talk about it, I think they also see that as their only option, at least for now. For those of you that think Blade and Sorcery NPCs are too easy and dumb, I suggest downloading the SharpAI mod. It makes the NPCs more aggressive, counter when they block your hits, immediately react and attack back when they are hit, dodge and attack, surround the player faster, can not be disarmed, and more resistant to being knocked down.

Those kinds of body tracking BCI are on the horizon, although it's not really the BCI most people think about when we talk about BCI and BCI for VR, and it doesn't pose any privacy concerns that something like a non-invasive system put on your head would. Instead, people will have privacy concerns about eye tracking technology, and that's going to need to be addressed too, my guess in a way like how you explicitly allow apps to access your webcam. And environment reconstruction too, Oculus and others are going to need to let devs access that data and they'll need to let the user have explicit control over who they give it to. But even then, developers can still use the data in a privacy concerning way and you'll never know. Public virtual spaces are also, in reality, of quite some concern, especially when you know that a server is being hosted centrally and that certain people can have the power to invisibly stalk you. We're not concerned currently as the market is still small, but with a larger user base, I believe this kind lax control will be more scrutinized.

fuck it I went for the 8KX anyway, index is taking forever and a half to be available in kangaroo land, I am only interested in the knuckles controllers for that anyway.

I mostly play flight sims so the HP reverb through the lens comparison of the cockpit guages and 170 deg horizontal FoV was enough to sell me on the 8KX.
I doubt I will hit anywhere near 75Hz 4K native for il2 BoS.
My main qualm would be the black levels for night missions since they are using LCD instead of OLED panels.
120Hz would have been nice even if the frames are artificial.

Already have a Vive 1 and can live without knuckles for a while. I can't fucking stand playing flight sims on the first Vive because the ppd is so bad it is very hard to identify aircraft in the distance for IFF.
And in gun sims like H3VR it is very hard to aim with fine iron sights.

I have a 1080Ti it should be able to run it albeit without the fixed foveated rendering for whatever benign reason not worth upgrading to RTX now.
Don't know whether an i7 4790 would be a bottleneck now. I think it will be fine since IPC doesn't seem to have improved dramatically and most VR titles I have been playing don't scale to multiple cores/threads well.
Worst case I will have to upgrade perhaps to an AMD 8 core depending on the performance.

To be honest I feel the same. Valve made sure to make CS:GO ESL friendly. It would be impossible them to translate it for VR with the same principles because of all the funky shit you can like akimbo AK-47s. It seems to me that they don't like to experiment with games, if they come across a roadblock they give up.

You're gonna have to start. Get blender v2.79 and cats plugin then check the "full body fix" button under fix model. You shouldn't have to do anything else if everything else works fine but if your arms or legs twist up and bend backwards just bend the knee and elbow joints a little bit in edit mode on the armature.

Onward is less popular because the maps and objectives are terrible. They took search and destroy, removed the critical defuse potential, and put no thought into map design. The only reason it was ever playable with /vrg/, aside from Pavlov being even worse at the time, was because most of the players ignored the objective and played it like TDM. The Onward Volk meta is just camp near the objective waiting to shoot anyone who goes near it and hope they don't glitch the code through a wall. Marsoc meta is hoping the enemy team doesn't do that.

It's realistic - especially on stock maps it can be really really fucking frustrating because you die to things you don't see and campers.
Gamemode is kinda broken too because you just input a code in a designated place, it can be over before you know it. Workshop support might fix it, but it might just highlight its other issues.

liveliness is not adhd though. adhd is about being unable to filter input you get. if you're trying to study and you're distracted by street noises, jet sound outside the window, something in your room that changed its place and you can't remember doing that, that's adhd. i think.
