It is a better experience than my old CV1 was, when connected to a barely good enough PC.

Upgrading my PC would have cost more, especially when offset the cost of the Quest against selling the CV1 it cost me very little.
Now I have a standalone device which works fine and soon will have the option of using it as a PCVR device and open the route to upgrading again. There is no real downside to this in my opinion.

However, I do hope that you find peace with the purchase of your Rift S.

I played NMS in 2D a long long time ago and one thing I particularly enjoyed doing was flying around a planet, just at kind of casual speed, pinging for locations and then visiting them.
I've now reinstalled NMS and am playing it in VR but that doesn't work anymore, I can fly for 25-30 minutes pinging and never see anything and if I do find something I was basically right on top of it. What gives? How are you meant to explore a planet now? It's like the ping only has 200m range or something while the visual extends much much further than that.

The game has had a lot of expansions and patches. But I'm new so I don't know what it was like before. Only thing you're ship ping can find is trade outposts if you install a trade scanner. The ground vehicles have the ability to scan for sites of various kinds. Fast way to find things is to trade Nav data at a station for star charts. You use those and it will highlight a waypoint.

You've got several people with large egos who think they are the "face of /vrg/" and have liberty to "set rules" for everyone who wants to be involved. Yet the community as a whole is larger than they realize. There's a segment of population that consider themselves part of /vrg/, and another segment that considers themselves at least loosely affiliated with people (i.e. they post on the thread but aren't part of the discord). However, the attitudes of those "in command," including the collapse of the first discord because of the usual discord drama, have pretty much driven both of these segments of population away from the threads and thus away from the so-called "meetups."

After all, it isn't fun to just get booted when trying to join your friends just because some big-headed moron who things they are head honcho over the community doesn't remember or recognize you.

The need for an alternative to all of your shit here is obvious, but the reason there's "attendance problems" is because most of the people who would normally buy into an alternative or split have already left and found other alternatives, and those forming such alternatives either aren't patient enough to let it grow or take it underground and away from the site to avoid you fuckers from ruining it.

Not saying anything dramatic needs to be done or anything, it's best just to chill with stuff. Just hopped on Gun Club VR for the first time a while. Didn't realise they'd applied a Halloween event update to the game and was shocked to come face to face with some pumpkins in the foyer.
