Playing VR minecraft soon!
All you need is a normal minecraft account and follow the instructions here.

Is VR sickness a real thing or is it a meme?
I posted the same image in the last thread, but after doing a bit more research, I'm feeling pretty decent about a Rift S. Games I'm most currently interested in right now are Pavlov, H3VR, Boneworks and Alyx. Might get into Assetto corza and Elite Dangerous later.
Any reason I should save up for a Index over a Rift S? I'm a college student living in one of the most expensive cities in the US, so having an extra $650 is really nice. As much as I'd love finger tracking, the knuckle controllers just don't seem like a super smart pickup atm from a financial standpoint. I'm pretty sure the valve controllers are only suited for the vive and index, though I imagine it wont be long before we get something similar on the Rift.
So for a final, more obvious question, should I take the plunge? Does VR live up to all the shilling?

You can decide if you want to piss around in vrchat before buying VR. If you're not interested at all while desktopping, getting VR probably won't improve the vrchat experience enough for you to get hookedunless you realize right away you want to be a degenerate in which case getting VR will dramatically improve the quality of your experience
>>273726438
There's plenty to do beyond VRChat. Even so, the Rift S is probably the best entry PCVR headset you can ask for. The only thing beyond it is the Index.
Is Pavlov never going on a real sale or is it going to get more expensive
>>273726329

>>273731140
Theres nothing more redpilling then watching the media report on something you are an expert in. And then you realize that 90% of what they say is probably just bullshit garbage.
>>273724948
>Any reason I should save up for a Index over a Rift S?
It's a better setup, but not necessarily $600+ better. If you're already not sure about taking the plunge and money is a concern, I wouldn't go for an Index.
>Does VR live up to all the shilling?
It does if there are games you're interested enough in to sink lots of time into. I can't go back to sims without VR anymore.

Reminder that no matter how you feel about vroid avatars, it is probably the best tool available for creating hair for 3d anime characters. Make the hair in vroid, export to blender, frankenstein a new hair-do onto your avatar. Try it out and see for yourself, there's so many useful features in vroid to speed up your workflow like live re-weighting, strand-bone grouping and easy uv adjustments. Sure you could do it all in blender, but it would take weeks to get the same result.
This is 12 bones (I use a different face now but I kept the hair)

>>273731140
>>273731372
>It really makes me think about how much people get wrong about other shit too in other subjects.
More importantly, you should realize that you yourself still get exactly that much wrong in _all_ subjects other than the one you are now an expert in. And even in the thing you are an expert in, unless you really are a world-leading expert, which is usually about 5 to 20 people in the world for any given narrow subject in a field, you still don't really know all about it, and there's always a new angle.
The fisher chuckles at your naive notions of how to catch a bass.
The historian chuckles at you thinking the Roman Empire suddenly ended with Romulus Augustulus.
The lawyer chuckles at you thinking that "innocent until proven guilty" is a universal principle of law.
The call center operator chuckles at you thinking you've met the biggest prick there is.
>>273733823
Why yes, me being a relative expert in this field has in fact led to me being more considerate of differences in knowledge in both myself and others. I now question many basic assumptions of my own as well as those of others today than I did 7 years ago, and am much less stubborn about my own beliefs. However, it still impresses me that we can be so wrong on so many things, and that authority figures are only as authoritative as the sum of their experiences in a subject, and you can't take it for granted that they do have any.
>>273733823
I disagree.
Assuming the unreliability of news is representative of the unreliability of other agents including yourself is assuming the news is wrong by chance. Something deliberately trying to produce false/or misleading results will generate a higher probably than chance. News has a component of propaganda and however large or small that component is it will raise the likely of broadcasting bullshit above the background noise of everyday bullshit.
>>273725454
yo this is sick
>>273732225
While you are extracting an archive, you need space equal to the total size of the archive contents on your Windows drive. The "ghost" files are created there, while the process of extraction works.
>>273735114
What do you mean? If you just move the 80 GB archive to another drive, and then you open that, and you extract directly to the SSD, you only need the 130 GB free on that drive. I don't know what program you're using.
>>273735339
Windows extract archives by first creating a temporary file on the partition where Windows is, and then moving the complete file to where the target directory is.
If you have many small files, thats easier. If you have a few big files, then you basically need 2x the space to finish the extraction, and half of that on the Windows partition.
>>273735408
I use RAR and avoid that shit by using the extract to dialog. It's possible look it up. 7z probably also has that mode.
>>273726329
This would work better with the other half being people complaining about Steam when CS 1.6 and Half-Life 2 released.

It makes everything more immersive though. it being in VR means you have to do the actions yourself. Once you are familiar with controls, it's really neat just mining and building stuff.

well yea that's a drawback of most immersive do the action yourself games

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid

>>273747961
depends on the price don't it.
I finally bought a Rift S and already went through the setup and the small intro things that they have.
So far so good, but now I was wondering, do people with an Oculus generally buy games and stuff in the Oculus store or is it always Steam no matter what VR headset you use?
I know that some games are available in both stores, and it seems as if my headset automatically goes to the Oculus menu when I put it on, but I'm sure you could change that stuff around.
>>273750143
Buy everything on Steam except for Oculus exclusives. Some games don't have crossplay.
>>273750143
All steam really does is add another layer on top of oculus and could adversely affect performance. Both environments are pretty lightweight though. There could also be issues with crossplay playerbases in some titles but I'm not sure, a bit of research will tell you what you need to know
>>273750143
For me, if a game is on both Oculus store and Steam, and the two are the same price, I always buy the Oculus version. Why? Just to avoid having the SteamVR application layer running over the top of Oculus home for no reason.
If the Steam version is cheaper I will always buy that though.
The performance impact is very low but it IS there, it IS an impact, so if I can avoid that for free, why the fuck not? I've not encountered a single game with multiplayer bought on Oculus Store which can't be played with people who bought it on Steam, though I accept they may exist.

For the CV1 and Rift it's the same as piracy for any of the other VR platforms.

When they won't show any proper gameplay in their own trailer and have even said on their facebook page that it has 'over' (developer speak for barely) 10 hours of content, you can be sure it's going to disappoint. Now this wouldn't be so bad if it was reasonably priced but one look at the promotional material, which is of a higher quality than anything shown in the actual game, suggests that it will not come with a low price.

Well how do you think they do it? Of course they're checking the files on your device, your acceptance of the agreement gives them permission to do so.
You can't just go "NO, I AM A SOVEREIGN CITIZEN AND I CANNOT BE BANNED"
so i'm a bit new to VR and got a valve index recently.
a lot of games look like SHIT, like my computer is an old windows 95 piece of shit trying to render it. is it that some games naturally look like shit? or am i doing something wrong? an impression i'm getting is that gamed ported to VR suffer drastically in graphics, although i'm not sure if I understand why. it's not the index that is processing the graphics, it's my graphics card. a port shouldn't look any worse, right?
some games look fine. some had bad screen door effect. some have very watery distortions if i whip the camera around, how do I fix that?
overall VR was a bit of a letdown with so many games looking bad, i'm trying to play with the settings to fix it but it's not happening.
>>273762037
>>273762368
the forest was actually a VR game that i got and it has low-res everything on the valve index. did you play it in VR? How did you do that without it looking terrible?
>>273762368
What are your system specifications?
SDE absolutely doesn't have anything to do with performance, it's an issue of the hardware the panel is made from so it shouldn't be changing. It is simply possible you are confused. What games are you talking about? What games are ported to VR other than shit like Skyrim or Fallout 4?
>>273762120
Them having the right to do something doesn't mean they actually are doing it or enforcing anything, and even if they are "monitoring" all files, how do YOU think they scan through them? I'm not the one claiming they're already doing it.
>>273762623
They probably check hashes against a list of oculus library hashes, if an APK hash matches but isn't down as a purchase, that's a black mark on your account.
Are they doing anything about that right now? Not as far as we're aware. Is it going to stay that way? That isn't a safe bet.
>>273762482
I haven't actually played it in VR yet, but the reason that a lot of games might look like shit is because you have to actually render something twice for VR. You might also have your settings automatically set to the lowest if they look like total dogshit. Have you tried looking up videos to compare the graphics?
>>273760823
So wait for reviews
>>273762368
Download Aperture Hand Lab. If that looks fine, the problem is the ports which weren't made well for VR. VR is more performance demanding than flatgames due to rendering a stereoscopic image at higher frame rate, and tracking position.
Ensure you aren't downsampling and using motion smoothing in SteamVR, too.
>>273716952 (OP)
i have read the pastebins and put i feel a reasonable amount of time trying to learn about vr but i still have questions
are vr headsets standardized? as in, if someone makes a vr mod for specifically 1 thing does that mean you cant actually use it for others? would my crysis machine still struggle to run say, quake 2 vr? is it unreasonable to simplify to say ~2x as much resources? how big of a factor does the headset you buy matter in terms of performance? is monitor resolution only important for games with a lot of text?
>>273755427
You can look through the output_log.txt in the vrchat cache directory, it lists usernames of people who join and leave worlds.
>>273757584
Only if you are okay with Oculus store exclusives.
I think he's talking about flat games that were converted to VR like FO4. Partially it's because in VR you get to look at objects and textures from closer by so you notice lack of detail more easily.
Partially because a lot of these ports are just inexplicably shittily made. (Like FO4)
Partially because certain engines and rendering pipelines just don't work that well on low res VR screens (like the notorious shimmering in UE4 games)

>>273763430
Tiltbrush makes very particular kind of model, yeah you can export them but there are no traditional modelling tools in TB so you've left with this weird polygon salad that's barely usable for any practical purpose.
Google Blocks can be used to make very basic models but you'd have to finalize them in some other (non-VR) software,

>lavender release delayed by another month again

>>273762734
Yeah, the hash method. That's pretty unreliable, since pirates should be able change the APK so that it generates a different hash. And anyway, even if they don't take those safety measures, it's not a great risk or anything. Almost no one gives a shit about piracy including your ISPs when they detect something and send you a letter, and you'll likely get a warning first if it's detected on Oculus. Then you can just stop pirating, but that doesn't erase all the fun you had when you were pirating.
>>273763901
If you already have NMS it's definitely worth checking it out in VR, the cockpit view from your ship is actually cool. They're actually still actively working on the VR implementation too, I think just recently they added the last of a few features to VR that desktoppers had and VR users couldn't access, such as animal riding.
It's not worth buying for VR though.
Any VR games where you can motorboat some titties?
>>273764047
It is also slightly immoral but I doubt that's an issue for you.
Can you play Oculus exclusives on the Rift S?
>>273762968
The headsets are all standardized on steamvr at least, and there's revive which let's steamvr headsets play Oculus api games. The controllers are mostly standardized except for the old Vive wands. You'll occasionally run into control issues with old stuff, but you can rebind controls yourself nowdays.
As far as your GPU is concerned, most VR games are running at 1440x3200 at 80+fps. So more than 1080p at 60fps. Some rendering engines don't support efficient stereo rendering so you do get double the drawcalls. 2x is a decent simplification.
Headsets effect performance primarily by resolution and refresh rate, just like a monitor. The old rift CV1 also usedna fair amount of cpu for tracking, but you can't get that anymore. Index has the highest resolution and refresh rate, so it'll require more gpu than rift S or quest link.
Resolution isn't that different between the modern headsets, so no games will be unreadable on lower res headsets, they'll just look a bit less sharp. None of the existing headsets will render text as well as a 1080p monitor 30cm from your face anyway though. We need about 2x the angular pixel density for that.
>>273764270
>Can you play Oculus exclusives on the Oculus exclusive machine?

Intel(r) core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @3.40 GHz, 16GB ram, my graphics card is a 1070 atx i believe, with 8 GB ram if i'm not mistaken
i got this computer ~2 years ago and it was top-of-the-line then, so i feel like a setting somewhere is making lots of games look bad. it can't be the hardware.
as I said in another post, the forest was ported over to VR and it looks bad on my vr. some games don't look bad in general, like doom vfr, but the screen door effect is strong on doom, and some things are very blurry when far away. i also remember that a game called Epic Roller Coasters (it was free) looked like PS2 graphics at best.
on another note, while people are being helpful, i got hellblade senua's sacrifice because it was highly rated, i literally can't get past the intro screen of the game. the vr controllers, a plugged-in ps4 controller, and the keyboard won't do anything.
on another note again, i've tryed 180/360 degree videos, and they look genuinely terrible. like they are all 240p videos filmed with webcams 15 years ago. the quality is low and the colors are washed out. surely there are good-quality vr videos, right? i tried random shit from youtube and porn videos from VRSmash.com, but everything looks really, really bad. again, i feel like it's not supposed to be this bad and i'm doing something wrong, but i haven't messed with the settings a whole lot.

Yeah, when stretched across the index resolution, you essentially get 240p. They're not going to look that good unless they're like 8k resolution flat.

>>273764168
Oh right since you're an entirely upstanding moral individual yourself, got it.

You might check on youtube to make sure you're downloading the absolute highest quality . I haven't really sought out 180/360 video though, mostly for that reason that it'll never really look good. Even if it was high-resolution enough the fact that your head is fixed in position really kills the immersion for me. Also unless the stereo separation of the recording matches your IPD the scale will look off.

Actually only gonna cost like $42 after rebate to get a couple of new 8GB sticks so I think I might as well just do it now. The disturbing thing is, this is completely and utterly true. If it weren't japanese but everything else was still the same, all the same rules and everything, just different names, they wouldn't be interested in the slightest.
And that just seems so shallow and fake to me.

>>273771532
dude imagine if we had a shogi world oh kami-sama no game compares to that
For people with a glasses prescription of around -1, do you play with them on or off?
Do I need a lot of space to VR enjoyably? Or is just enough space to stand/move my hands gonna be fine? Don't think I'm really gonna be doing room scale stuff any time soon but idk how ubiquitous that kind of experience is anyway
>>273773025
A larger playspace is generally preferable for comfort, but it's not necessary.
As long as you make sure you're not going to be smashing into walls and furniture you'll be fine.
>>273772106
what did you expect from weebs?
you can slap anime skins on soccer and apehoop and they will play it like it's the best thing since anime
>>273773025
That's a very sensible question but the answer is going to change from person to person and depends on the title really.
Personally I only have about 1.5x1.5 area (And it isn't even square) to play in but I still manage just fine but I know for a fact there are people who absolutely wouldn't even put their HMD on if they couldn't guarantee 2.5x2.5 at least.
>>273772106
>If it weren't japanese but everything else was still the same, all the same rules and everything, just different names, they wouldn't be interested in the slightest.
Does that mean I'm not allowed to like Go either? That sucks.
>>273772106
If it were all exactly the same I would still play it. I play a japanese game because the American version is just matching pictures and doesn't support more than one player.
>>273773156
If we got a Initial D remake with CGDCT Assetto Corsa fags would be drowning in players. If chinks didn't make Girls Frotnline Pavlov would barely hit 10 players at most.
>>273773283
You're allowed to like Go, by all means. Like anything you want.
But liking something "Because it is japanese" and not for any actual aspect of that thing, is fucking stupid and it makes you stupid. That's just how it is, feel free to do whatever.
>>273773217
Yeah I can probably manage at least that much... Do I need to walk around much for most VR games or is it mostly controlled with the stick as far as movement goes?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XP5lz2CYNR4
>>273773283
Only if you spell it GO like CS:GO.
>>273773406
>"Because it is japanese" and not for any actual aspect of that thing
But that's not why people like mahjong, it might be how they get into/learn about it, but it's way too intimidating for people to pick it up and learn for that reason alone
>>273773431
Any game is going to have smooth stick locomotion and teleportation on top of room scale. When you can't physically walk, you'll always be able to virtually walk. That's not something you need to worry about.
>>273773025
Depends on what you want to play. racing/flight sims work fine seated obviously, puzzle games usually let you teleport/move in game enough to play with a limited area, plus you're not moving frantically.
Stuff like pavlov or beat saber or blade and sorcery though, it'll be tough if you have to worry about smacking your hands into something irl. I took my bed apart and just put the mattress on the floor, so I can prop it up against the wall for more space.
>>273773431
Walking around IRL is almost never necessary, games will let you move by teleporting or stick movement generally. If a game doesn't have that you can drag yourself around with the playspace mover (use hand movements to drag the world around essentially)
>>273773431
Nah, all of them have lateral motion on the sticks.
Rotation sometimes might only be positional but that just means you gotta spin in place.
>>273773551
That's the sole reason most weebs like anything and you fucking know it. YOU may be different, I can't be sure, but don't even try lying to yourself that most weebs aren't shallow as a fucking puddle in their actual interest in japanese things.
anyone else have issues with sweat? i have an index and my face gets sweaty within the helmet, and it's hard to reach in and wipe. it's also annoying because i wear glasses, and either my glasses or the lenses in the helmet get smudged and it's really fucking annoying to take everything off, clean, wipe sweat off, put back on. am i missing something, or does everyone have to deal with this?
>>273773724
Try VR again once you're below 400lbs
>>273773724
Only for the most intense games like Pistol Whip. It is a bitch, but it's nowhere as bad as Vive was.
Wear contact lenses.
>>273773724
Yes. You pretty much just have to deal with it. You can buy extra faceplates from valve to swap out https://store.steampowered.com/app/1072820/Face_Gasket_for_Valve_Index_Headset__2_Pack/ , or pay a lot for VRCover's thing.
You could also try making a fan for your headset https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3821762 . I don't think it'd help too much though. Get an AC for your room.
>>273773710
Weebs show up by the handful to the vr mahjong world, one, maybe two stay long enough to even try to understand what I'm playing.
I invite as many as I can to try learning and most every single one turns it down because of the giant list of rules sitting on the wall.
hmmmmm my gaymen laptop says vr ready I should buy a rift <---clueless
>now have a 400 dollar paperweight
>>273773406
Oh good, I wouldn't want to have to play weiqi because that's Chinese and not Japanese.
I'm just stirring the pot though, since Mahjong is also a Chinese game as well, and the fact that it's quite similar to poker while still deviating strongly from it is exactly what makes it enjoyable. The Japanese rules set it apart from the original game by adding actual depth and strategy where there was none before, turning a game of random draws into one where you actually have to keep track of your opponents.
tl;dr go fuck yourself faggot

running memory in a dual channel system with 3/4 sticks can cause problems, you might just want to get a smaller heatsink or one that doesn't go over the memory slots, or switch to 2 larger sticks and only put 1 stick in each channel
>>273774225
Yeah my plan is to toss the 3 4GB sticks and use 2 8GB.
So you think the fact that I'm using 3 4GB now could be causing my freezing issues?
>>273774114
If you feel attacked then you misunderstood what I said, cunt.
>>273773025
Aim for a 2x2m space. Bigger if you're bigger. Basically it's to stop you from hitting shit in your room when you're moving around. Give yourself an extra 10-20cm on top of your arm length in every direction about the center of your playspace. That'll give you enough room to move around as well but for the most part you don't need to move around your playspace anyway.
>>273774360
You misunderstand why people take the time to learn and play mahjong
haha look at them go
Anybody want to play some pokerstars VR? It's been a while since I've seen lobbies posted here.
>>273774360
I'm siding with the other guy. Anyone who actually learns to play mahjong, even poorly, has interest in the game beyond being wapanese. The learning curve is simply too steep for someone with such a superficial interest.
>>273774672
>not playing muh jong, the superior poker
>>273774506

>>273774672
yeah. but posting about playing games here makes people angry for some reason.
>>273774351
very likely using more dimms in one channel than the other works via a hack, and you only get dual channel for the first 8GB and the other 4GB stick runs in single channel. It puts a lot of stress on the memory controller.
>>273774672
No but all this talk of mahjong makes me want to play some good ol janky vr mahjong

I don't think I have any VR-specific advice. A hip would probably be nice since it has enough mass to hold itself in place, but I had to get rid of my hip before I got VR, so I wouldn't know. You can just strap in a regular onahole to a pillow or something anyway.

Only playfighting, although some people have created advanced avatars to enhance the experience (swords/shields, guns, laser beams, adding crashers to those things for added thrill and effect). Custom shader support is on their roadmap so I think it's that mostly no one has bugged him enough to make it a priority over other features he's focused on. He's currently overhauling the UI engine which is usually the biggest complaint new users have.
If you need a specific shader in the meantime you could request it and he'd probably implement it.

there's some other stuff I've been on the fence about like in death, star trek bridge crew. Depends a lot on what type of game you're in to. Todd's game is pretty cheap too if you can't be arsed to pirate it.
>>273784105
I put slashes there for a reason, but both were cheap for quite some time, I wouldn't recommend getting Pavlov at this price either. Beat Saber can be pirated and there's more initiative to get games if your tranny friends are playing them already.

Imagine a Quest Pro:
>Index-tier headset and controllers (except without the dumb QC issues and other things)
>standalone capable but also can be wired with true DP to computer
>might even have ability to be used with a wireless dongle
>relocated battery to the back of the strap for optimal weight balance and comfort
>learned from past mistakes - the wire connection between the headset and the strap won't break over time
I would NUT so hard for this headset. And I would actually be happy instead of slightly reluctant to pay $1000 for it.

Some additional instructions for the extreme autism shader pack in vivecraft:
https://sildurs-shaders.github.io/
download the Lite or Medium pack. Put the whole zip file (don't extract) under `%appdata%/minecraft/shaderpacks`.
Download this texture pack https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/texture-packs/vanilla-pbr/files/2812476 and put it in (don't extract) `%appdata%/minecraft/resourcepacks`.
Run vivecraft, open Settings -> Video -> Shaders, select the sildur's lite/medium one.
Open shader options -> sky and lighting -> turn Rain Drops off (adds bad distortion effect in VR).
Shader options -> Normal map -> RP support -> change to "Parallax".
Then it should look like pic related. It's pretty but it does run at like 20fps (on 1070ti). Steamvr's interpolation works well enough for me to be worth it, but it's up to your personal preference of course.

Trannie
Short version of the word Transgender, Transvestite and Transsexual. Often mistaken as a slur against mentally ill people. Used mainly online to not keep typing unnecessarily long words over and over again.

Trannie: "Racist bigot! Go die fascist pig!"
Guy 2, a cuck: "Dude that's not gender-friendly of you! Take that shit back!

Custom PCBs can be cheap as fuck, it all depends on how much you order.
The margin is probably fairer if you include the R&D budget.
>>273795023
Your feed is so full of loot box purchases you don't see anything
>>273794878
Most of the parts are standard, there are very few custom components on the Index. But even then, some of those parts are pretty pricey and I'm guessing that the HMD alone being sold at 500USD is being sold at a very narrow profit.
>>273794960
A super majority is super and majorly gay, though
>>273795197
>is being sold at a very narrow profit.
Yeah remember the oculus being sold BELOW profit margins
HAHHAHA It was still making 2x money back in the end BAHAHAHAHA
Anyone into wanting to get blacked in VR?
>>273794757
The LCD panels in the Index are cheap as shit. Both of them probably cost $40 all together. The lens themselves cost $5, but judging from Pimax's fuckups developing the lens cost a few million.
>>273795346
Oculus is going for the short-term play, grabbing exclusives as fast as they can
Valve is thinking long-term, not even caring what headset you have, just trying to further VR as best as possible.
It's kind of like mahjong...
Whats up with the index grips? I never heard any news about it
>>273795346
>>273795197
You retards. The cost of the product has nothing "directly" to do with BoM. It's all about business strategy, supply, and demand. Selling at cost and at a loss has a meaning, but in this case, it is lost. The costs of their investments already outstrip the potential money that could be made back in hardware sales. But that does not mean they will throw money at more than than they feel necessary.
>>273795676
They are sensitive, a little too much because of finger tracking, they train you to let go of them very well
>>273795706
Most of these components are inelastic so supply and demand have no effect on their price.
>>273795598
As far as we can tell, Facebook has invested the most out of any other company, in short AND long term projects, so it's not really that they're just doing a lot of short term plays, they're doing both.
>>273795598
>just trying to further VR as best as possible.
Say that again when they start selling index kits to devs and customers outside the US and EU.
Why are base stations so expensive
What the fuck is in them
>>273795346
Luckey was full of shit. They were making a profit off Oculus
>>273796005
Expensive motors and bearings.
>>273795902
Exclusives are harmful no matter the console, they always fuck over consumers and cause people to hate them
>>273795946
But again, you don't ever need to buy index, or the controllers, or the base stations.
Buy whatever you want and play VR games under steam, they don't care, they only want to advertise their own products for obvious reasons
>>273795598
Facebook is a public company it answers to shareholders and analysts. If the VR arm of the company looks like a gigantic money sink that isn't even the least bit profitable it will make facebook look either incompetent or indulging in moonshots to investors which could make the investors pressure management to drop oculus.
>>273796205
>they always fuck over consumers and cause people to hate them
People hate exclusives? Nah, people hate the fact that they're exclusive, but they're going to buy that shit anyway because they're games they want. Exclusives work. But only if they're good, have the right IP, and people see it (marketing).

>People hate exclusives? Nah, people hate exclusives
Did you read a single word you wrote?
>>273790083
VRchat definitely. Lots of worlds to explore.
>>273795598
Yeah except rift cost 200 to make and sold for 350+
>>273796647
Yeah dude, an exclusive is a game that has the property of being exclusive. I was implying that people hate the property of being exclusive rather than the exclusive game as a whole.
>>273796141
Except the motors arent in the base station 2.0
>>273796869
Again, are you reading what you are typing? People hating an exclusive means they don't give a fuck about what the game offers, because it's fucking exclusive.
Yeah they could pirate it, but the game is already saying "FUCK YOU" to them before they even have a chance to.
Fuck exclusives
>>273797121
You are suffering from a basic misunderstanding of what she is saying.
>>273797247
Yeah, people hate exclusives, and to think people should side with Oculus on this matter is bullshit.
I understand exactly what he is saying, if he agrees then I agree, but for those who side with Oculus I disagree so strongly I type essays on an imageboard.
>>273797121
as long as exclusives sell well, companies will still make exclusives. doesnt matter what amount of tard rage will get thrown at them as long as they get some profit.
>>273797247
I am a man and identify as a man thank you very much. But otherwise yes.
>>273797121
Look dude, I'm saying most people actually don't hate games that are exclusive, because otherwise, not so many people would be buying consoles in droves. People are dumb fucks with their money and waste it like that, sure, that's just the way it is. The only thing most people might hate, like I was saying is that they might have to spend a bit extra to play that exclusive, meaning that they might hate the idea that the games they want happen to be exclusive, but they don't hate the games themselves.
>>273797475
No, you don't understand.
>>273796723
Actually the best use of time on VRChat. World hopping exploration >>>>> mirror stupidity
>>273797603
>people actually don't hate games that are exclusive
Not only do you not read what you type, you don't read at all
Steam lets you play anything that Oculus stole away to be a jew about, and STILL invites them to the table to enjoy all ov VR.
Oculus is the only motherfucker doing this shit. Name one other bastard limiting the fucking market with exclusives. Name one fucking idiot who thinks VR doesn't need players playing games besides Oculus.
>>273797632
A shame, he seemed an honest man
>>273796926
There's still a motor, just down to 1 motor instead of 2. It spins on a diagonal.
I remember when you couldn't play certain games without a fucking Cyrix processor or a voodoo card.
Your argument about oculus "stealing" is fucking retarded.
>>273797973
On PC? Sure, but Sony has a lot of exclusives on PSVR, and PSVR has sold very well compared to PC VR headsets. And that was my point, most people outside of nerds like us don't give a fuck, they will buy consoles for their exclusives because they think they are good. I never claimed anything about exclusives being good or bad for industries, or anything about Oculus being good or bad. Just that as a business strategy, they make money, and people fall for it.
Realize all dps fags and tank fags that your leader are the healers. You brave the task directly risking life and limb to protect your glorious and rightful master.
>>273798745
>Sony has a lot of exclusives on PSVR
And people are hardcore xbox/nintendofags for a reason
Not to mention how shit PSVR is, most sonyfags don't have any interest in it
>>273797639
A really good map creator people should check all their map is Silent.

They have a lot of extremely well made beautiful maps. There's not much in terms of gameplay to them but just staring and chilling in their worlds is amazing.
Pic related is a recent one of theirs, factory kino.
>>273798472
Huh? Dud someone say something about stealing games? That's dumb. Unlike Epic Games, Oculus never outright purchased and made an existing game exclusive to their their platform. Their exclusives were being paid to be developed instead of to be moved to their platform. If they never paid then there would have been 0 games to steal, they just wouldn't exist.
>>273799397
He specializes in converting game rips and making sure lighting/materials are good for Unity. For example, that's from HL2: Deathmatch I believe. He does really good work with the assets though.
>>273798472
Upgrading is not the same thing as buying an Xbox instead of a Playstation you god damn fucking idiot
>>273799714
Having to upgrade to a voodoo 2 instead of an S3 IS though.
Welcome to the feeling all the non-VR owners have about VR games.
>>273800036
One of these situations is telling you the future can't be experienced without this hardware.
The other is telling you that even if you had the hardware your headset is no good, buy another fucking headset if you want to play our games.
I wish non-VR owners could look at VR and choose what they want but Oculus has decided to be a fucking jew.

I have a trash PC and my RiftS runs perfectly, there is no excuse.
>>273795365
Me. I made a blacked avatar for the event and it never even happened.
>>273807078
Awww, that's a shame
Too bad there doesn't seem to be anyone with a lewd dark skinned avatar, other than just some tanned ones
Is virtual desktop better than rift s home? I might buy it
Been trying to get my Koikatu model into blender but I'm an absolute brainlet. Any tips for an autist?
