I'm pissed off at June for releasing lavender into early acces in the absolute state that it's in right now. The game is barely even playable. Some poor fuck is going to spend $20 on this and be thrown into a world surrounded by grass, with a shitty little tablet that has maybe the ugliest UI I've seen in a game. The server browser doesn't work, he's going to need to figure out the website to make an account, find the place to link their account, find the discord and scroll through all the channels to find a server IP to join another world. The only thing they're going to get out of this is many negative reviews and their game refunded straight away. I really wanted this game to go somewhere but it seems like they're sabotaging themselves already. Hire me as your community manager if you need someone to tell you that what you're doing is fucking retarded.

My Oculus headset turn off after 20 minutes of playing. It get really hot and then just shuts down. The game is still running as I can see it in the extra screen window.

I think especially the UI still being placeholder developer art is a really bad choice for the general public opinion. You can even hide a lot of unfinished features behind sleek, clean UI art, but if it looks like developer art, the whole game will feel rough and unfinished like that, regardless of how great the feature set really is.

The game being released to early access in this state is also a huge missed opportunity. These days a lot of big titles release with the "early access" label, and that first release is a huge push with lots of sales that can build momentum to create a big community, or break it forever if the reviews merely end up mixed. Some of those games are unfinished alphas, but because some are what were betas in the past and some are straight up practically finished games as even the name implies, the expectations are really high.
And people won't forget these first impressions. Search for any game on google images in private mode and you'll see that most of the top images are from early images when the game first released, though that might be less of a problem for an untraditional title like this. But still, I suspect that people won't even drop that cancelled concert and delayed release to early access, no matter how petty - or not - that seems.

I'm also still wondering whether they'll be able to sustain that critical mass required for an online community to function, especially in an online community where your content generation depends on the players. After all, why should I log in, if no one else logs in? Why should I make worlds, if no one else is going to play them?

Generals are like this. For better or for worse, I am here as well because of VR and know that the other VR friends I've come to know are here. We have played countless games together and made some pretty nice stuff and discussions on this thread that is archived for our viewing later down the line for remembering memories as well.
The thread name and numbers are a collection of everyone's thoughts, joy and effort.

There is also the angle of the place being built up as the place to go to for virtual reality discussion in /vg/. It might seem weird but big numbers on thread catalog (real actual discussion length) is quite inviting to newfags that would like to discuss things as well. The place has been built over the years and not by any single anons but by a multitude.

This is why some of the reasons why /vrg/ is /vrg/ and if you want another general for specifically /vrfps/ for example go ahead and create a new one. You will make new friends and build a new place. I know that VR can become big enough to sustain single game genre in it's own thread. But that time might not be now. We shall see, but create a new one without booting off the old one.

When I start the game, it spawns a green box with a meadow behind me. I can see a model T-posing there, and I think it spawns a dialogue box. But its far away, and I am moving away from it. I can't read or click it. And after a minute, all there is around me is stars and blackness.
The game just shoots me into space like a rocket and I can't do anything.

I was playing boneworks, and after going into very small comfy areas where the FPS goes up real high and experiencing immense euphoria, it really makes me want to buy a new PC. Right now, I'm running a 970 and an I7 2600. I can play most VR games but they just sort of jitter or stutter or.. aren't perfect. I would like to get a better PC.

And so, I was planning to upgrade, Mostly just the CPU, because I think the fact it's so old is holding it back, despite it's relatively good speed. Would a Ryzen 5 1600 be enough to stop all the stuttering in my games? Or would it maybe be the 970? I don't usually see it getting too upset when I play stuff.

Honestly the best way I found is by using fpsVR, it's a software sold on steam for $4 and it's worth it. It shows controller battery status, charts your CPU/GPU performance, SS value, all kinds of useful stuff to find the perfect settings for you game. Use that and stand in those problematic areas and you'll see in the chart what the issue is. I can tell you right now though upgrading your GPU is going to be better for VR overall no matter what.

I think the truth is somewhere in between. There's no way they're actually still struggling with adding smooth locomotion, and Rubikon has been in the works for years, so they didn't JUST add physicality because they were jealous of boneworks. That said, the level design is probably more well suited to teleporting because they kept the attitude of "never move the player" all the way until recently.

I got a valve index, and I'm noticing a lot of games have watery distortions when I whip the camera around. What setting fixes that? I googled 'valve index watery distortion' and nothing really came up.

Isn't there a setting where you just tell steam to figure out the optimal configurations for the graphics?Or is it individual for each game? Some games look great, other look like PS1 garbage, screen door, watery distortion. And for the games that look bad, none of the reviews on steam mention bad graphics so I assume I need to fix the settings.
