I feel Zero Caliber has matured to the point where it is finally playable. I have to say, not many VR Shooters have a campaign at all, and the fact that this one has loads of guns you can pick up, climbing, collision between gun and environment, gun emplacements, AND FOUR PLAYER CO OP lets me forgive the fact that it's still got that indie jank.

The angle on holding guns feels off though. Would definitely want to play this with /vrg/.

Here's a good point to talk about the weapon attachment system the game has, where with very few exceptions, if its fits on the gun then you can put it on the gun. You can rip off attachments from other guns on the fly and put them on your own gun, and vice versa. There was a point where my co-op partner took a shittier optic and slapped the optic off my own gun to replace it with that one. AI teammates are generally useless and good to just loot free attachments from between fights.

In this pic you can see a small issue that crops up where it will highlight attachments on other peoples guns, or their grenades. VRchat absolutely can't be beaten for getting the VR theater experience online even if they break the player every other patch.

The game also has plenty of goodies and fancy weapons lying hidden for the explorers out there that like looking in every nook and cranny. I get serious christchurch vibes from this gun but there's no saying for sure. All in all the game is an absolute blast with friends, would definitely recommend if you have some to play it with. It's been getting updates which surprised me because I expected it to be an abandoned game after launch, so that's a big plus as well. After taking a long break from playing it during its initial launch, it has improved significantly in things like TTK and the feel of the guns.

it seems to work well in SteamVR loading screens where it's shows input as a white dot. To the point I'd even say it could work for locomotion.

Until You Fall is fun. I definitely recommend it. The different weapon skill combos are fun to mess around with. It's the closest I've found to my desired VR roguelite, I just wish the postlevel upgrades were more varied.

Gargantua is basically just an inferior swordfighting game. It plays like a proof of concept like Boneworks.

VR Dungeon Knight is fun and the devs keep adding stuff, but it's not my top choice. Climbing vines over traps is fun tho.

so i just got an SSD and wow, what a fucking game changer it is, im mad as fuck cuz i know i lost a fuckton of game time because i didn't have one for my VR games till now.

it wont magicaly make your games run at 144 frames with everything maxed on every VR game in existence, but it fixes one of the problems most people have with VR: THE FUCKING LOADING TIMES

i swear to god 50% of my VR playtime was standing still while waiting for the game to load, for example, Pavlov took almost 5 minutes (which feels like hours) just to load up into the main menu but installing it in the SSD makes load time go down to less than 30 seconds.
and this is with a shitty, used 120gb Kingston SSD with 250mb/s read/write speed that i got for 14 bucks, this is more of a PSA if you feel like you are mostly standing still in a void rather than playing with your headset.

VR Dungeon Knight is the only VR game i have ever refunded, i feel like it will become a great game in the future but holy ass is the melee combat terrible in every sense of the word, it's vanilla Skyrimg VR levels of bad, Climbing vines is pretty fun though and wish more games would do it.

That pause in the killhouse is something recent, I don't remember pre-zombies Pavlov freezing up straight away like that. Generally the game went to shit fast after the attachement update.
Gore freezes the game, models look awful, content he provides is shit or fucks with the balance. That siberia map is some real honky shit with its culling and bulletproof fences. I'm fairly sure he fucked with the draw distances too for the Quest, because I often see people running AUGs with no attachements which just isn't possible.

The "normals" are what tells the rendering engine which way light is supposed to reflect off of a face/edge. There is an option in blender that will let you see which direction the normals are pointing, so you need to make sure they aren't pointing inside of the head, and if they are, you need to flip them

but it feels like my brain is learning to accept the virtual body as real and the physical body as only an intermediary interface. I suppose a full adaption would have physical sensations entirely handled by the subconscious and only forwarded to the conscious in the event of major pain. At some point, moving physical arm and VR arm lags because holding something heavy, will just translate to feeling of heavy instead of lag. In place of feeling of lag, feeling of actual weight.

But it feels like one or other. I feel less adjusted to physical already. I feel less scared of height, and not in a good way. In boneworks you can fall from very high height. So now when I look down from high height it feels like "oh no if I leave something here it would be inconvenient to fall and go back up here" instead of "oh no if I fall I will get hurt" since you don't take fall damage in boneworks.

Basically what I'm saying is that we seriously need carefully thought out VR mechanics that take into consieration how your brain adapts to thje mechanics over time and if this would at all hurt evertyday brain operation (right now I think it does, for the amount of time I want to spend in VR)

I might need some help with my right Index controller. The right controller isn't tracking. The buttons work, but I can't have the controller model actually show up anywhere in the home app. It started happening 2 days ago.

In the blue VR status bar (on the desktop monitor), the right controller icon is blinking. I've tried absolutely everything, pairing again, restarting shit, switching to/from steam beta. I contacted steam about help yesterday, they haven't gotten back to me.

I even considering just taking the plunge and buying new index controllers, but steam doesn't even have them in stock right now. Am I just fucked for a while? There's nothing that I want to play with just one hand. I was having a lot of fun with the combat games, and they're good workouts.

Any tips? I would really prefer to be able to get it working again. Even if steam sends me new ones for free, they're out of stock so it may take a while. Is there ANYWHERE I can buy new controllers if I don't want to wait?

Models look/feel like toys, they're scaled incorrectly, and the gunfire sounds and looks like shit. but everything else about the game is excellent. it's got fucking vehicles like humvees and helis, attachments (2 years before pavlov got around to adding them), fucking climbing physics, all great and innovative still in 2019/20. Even the battle royale is competent. just put one in front and one behind you. They don't even have to be placed very well, they'd probably still work 90% the same even with very shitty placement
The base stations configure themselves, neuaral network or something, automatically adjust to figure out where it is in relation to player
then as the configuration starts to come up and have confidence of where it is, it starts informing the system of additional tracking information. It is transfered over wifi or bluetooth maybe, so there is a bit of lag, but thats completely fucking fine actually because this is not a primary tracking method
