It's comfy if you do have the upload bandwidth, since you can also play games and interactive stuff. Best you can do in vrchat is HLS with a ~5-30 sec latency. Fwiw I don't think bigscreen is purely p2p, but you do need the 2.5Mbps or so to upload to their distribution server, which then serves the rest of the people in the room.

Friday is back on the menu, only missed two or so though so that's not big news.
While rearranging that day I began thinking about the actual time. Friday will stay at 9pmEST, but I'm considering rolling back Saturday/Sunday to 7pmEST to stop interfering with /vrg/ things because of how long it takes to play a round of Mahjong. This might mean it ends earlier, or it might also mean I stay there even longer, who knows.
This kind of ruins chances of a EU hosting since it would mean 12pmEST, and I need my beauty sleep after a good night of VRjong. If EU is not too busy partying on Sundays to make it to a 2pmEST (Which I think is about 8pm?) session I will still consider trying it out. I've been lazy about it because of traveling and moving, but that should be over soon.

Things aren’t so bad for everyone. I met some great friends these last two years, both in VR and IRL from this thread. Friends I’ll have for a long time coming. I’ve been in a relationship with someone I met from here for a year, and I can honestly say I’ve never been more happy and content with my life. I always have something fun to do with friends after rough days at work. It’s pretty nice.

For hold em, it's a lot simpler than riichi mahjong in terms of stuff to memorize, and the number of actions you have to take per round of the game (4ish bets/calls instead of 12ish tile selections on average). I personally think the gameplay is a lot deeper in holdem poker over mahjong since bet sizing and bluffing are more subtle than "oh I guess I tsumo'd, cool), but I can't claim expertise or in either game.

tanki has the advantage that's it's in vrchat and is thus a little comfier with a video playing. I hope there's a good holdem poker map in udon when it comes out. There is a holdem map in current vrchat but it's nowhere near as streamlined as pokerstars.

I think a lot of that was because of expectations being way too high. It definitely has some issues, but I had a lot of fun with it. You can just refund if you don't like it or pirate it to try it out if you're really on the fence.

I haven't messed with it, but you should be able to remap controls in Revive through the SteamVR input mapper.

Climbing reliably relies on using the crouch button, trying to climb with just your body is much harder and feels either like you glitched your way up or got lucky with the physics.
You grab what you want to climb, lower your arms to lift yourself, press the crouch button to bring your legs in, crouch in real life for a little extra movement and then move your arms once more to pull yourself forward. Eventually it becomes fairly easy to do consistently, even with objects in your hands. Combine with crouch jumping and you can move around pretty fast.

Hadn't thought about it, but after some digging around, it makes a lot more sense. Your body is a physics object and they didn't do enough to handle what that does to the camera. Not sure how that never came up in testing, but maybe it's something they knew about and decided not to fix. The game is full of places where compromising a little on the physics system would help a lot with gameplay.
