The audio and the screen on the actual index headset are quite nice. 144hz is smooth, and SDE is just on the edge of no longer existing. It's not "next gen" better though; you're still looking through binoculars essentially, and the index headset is quite heavy, like 3x the weight of the CV1. The index controllers are okay, but like everyone else I'm on my second set after RMA'd controllers.

I personally went from the CV1 to the index, so I can't speak to the Rift S exactly. I'd say that the $600 is very likely better spent elsewhere, e.g. on a better gpu or cpu, unless you already have a 2080 ti and i9.

I play Boneworks on a heavily overclocked FX-8350 and it's... okay, most of the time. If you're using a Rift S i'd imagine it'd be playable, I'm using a Quest so not only is the computer having to run the game, it's having to do video encoding on the fly on top of that, slowing it down even further.

It's mostly shaders but the textures on the hair/hair accessory parts also plays a role. The hair on one of my exports is made up of both a default short hair as well as a bunch of hair extras in the accessory section; The latter have more detailed textures with darker lines/shading while the regular hair is mostly a single color because it uses the outlines in the game to make the strands of hair appear seperate from each other. I was looking at the guides for importing models to VRchat but I tend to get lost really easily, though I understand the images with short and quick stuff is for helping where people get caught on. I also get frustrated by video tutorials which everyone fucking relies on for subscriber money because it's not something I can easily sit on a step for, I need to keep repeating it. Is there a decent image guide that isn't just HOW TO CATS because in particular I run into an issue where anything I import is 300 metres tall and I don't know how to fix that.
