We tried out the new Pavlov beta patch and it's actually a lot better than expected. It's suppsoe to go on the live branch on Monday or so. Attachment system is good and you can iron sight some guns like g3 now. The new ammo system will be a game changer for sure for people who just magdump after 4 shots, which is just about everyone.

To the person in the last thread asking about FBT and NoloVR, you can only connect one extra tracked object with the original Rift so only one extra controller with Rift would work. On top of that, Nolo FBT is pretty much just as expensive as getting Vive Trackers + Base Stations, but drifts a whole lot more. Honestly just save up for the real deal instead of trying to save a couple of bucks.

I love dancing in vr, its the main reason I use fbt. Its just about feeling the music. Do it with people youre comfy with if youre a little insecure. If you want, theres a world called pypy that plays Just Dance videos. I found the world recently and its a great way to dance with instruction.
I have to be careful tho because I have a tiny space to dance in and I tend to hit my walls if im not keeping track of my position. Be mindful of your walls and cups of water! Sometimes when im free dancing, I have the cord wrapped loosely on one of my arms which works really well for me.

I'm not good at it, but it's a lot of fun. You get used to the wires pretty quickly and the headset sliding around isn't a problem if you have it adjusted properly.
My trackers do slide around sometimes, but I'm using bootleg trackstraps that don't get as tight as I'd like, so that's probably why. You can attach them to a pair of shoes if you really want to make sure they stay in place though.

Are there any key tips for optimizing my avatar for FBT dancing?

The movements don't seem to translate well in-game. I mean the trackers themselves are perfect and movement is 1:1, but I feel my avatar itself doesn't move with the motions I'm doing. Primarily my arms it seems. Should I just try making the arms less long? they're kind of long in-game but it matches the height of the avatar well, they just don't match my own irl length.

Just remember that your spine-chest joint will stay rigid. It can twist a little bit but won't really bend significantly. You have to keep your back straight to line up hips to head properly. Your hips will override everything else so if you throw your hip tracker across the room it'll move the whole body. Funny though other anon says keep avatar proportional with your real life body but I've been doing that for so long it didn't even occur to me to mention. It's absolutely necessary for full body in general.

I started playing boneworks and I cant figure out if I like the game or hate the game. Theres a bunch of stuff thats just great but the way the player legs behave just pisses me off. You cant bend over any object because the game interperets it as you just bending your knees which pushes you away from the thing you're trying to peer over. It's really janky and just takes me out of it. I wish the devs would implement FBT support, but I know they never will. I have a long cat-like tail that has a ton of stripes on it, I wanted to make all of the actual stripes use a specific shader that's different from the main shader the tail itself uses. How exactly would I go about doing that? I mean I have the shader itself ready to go but right now the tail is just one mesh and one whole texture is applied to it. I assume for this to work I'd have to make the stripes their own mesh and texture so I can apply a different shader to them? Feels like it. The first game had a non-VR mode added later, but I never bothered with it since it looks far more awkward and boring. Although I can understand allowing a wider audience to play for better sales, I can't imagine this'll be a huge boost. I think it's best to just delete the faces that are covered by clothes as much as possible. Good for optimization anyway since it reduces overdraw. If you don't want to do that for whatever reason, you may have better luck using the data transfer modifier to transfer weights from the body mesh to the clothes, which should match the weighting by nearest neighbor. Applying a subdivision modifier temporarily to the body mesh might help too, not sure what the state of the art for clothes fitting is these days.

I actually think this is the way to go, too, but I run into an issue with that. Say I delete all the faces in my torso under the shirt top (since it covers it anyway) what happens is when I twist to my left or right, you can see small peeks of the missing invisible faces from the sides. It's not a full shirt it's like a half shirt so only some of the body is covered by it. Meaning some faces are left alone while others are deleted and when you move you can see the deleted areas (in some angles)

I think the combine voice effect is fairly simple; bandpass of something like 300hz to 3khz (telephone range, maybe walkie talkies are smaller but couldn't find details), amplify for hard-clip distortion, add in some white noise in addition. Maybe also pitch-shift downwards before the bandpass. Voicemeeter potato can do the actual routing from your real mic through reaper and plugins and back into VRC.

I just fucking vomited in my mouth a little bit thinking about it. Played HL2 (for the first time) not that long ago as basically the first flat shooter I've played in ages. Trying to shoot someone with the combine rifle that was about 20 meters away and having the thing just spray in a 15 degree arc around the target pissed me off to no end. Even tapping for single fire or burst fire did nothing to stop it just spreading everywhere. You should try separating your model up in blender to find out where all the polys are. Some models have some really stupidly high-poly parts like a little hair ornament which you can easily decimate without loss of detail. It's not likely it has high detail across the entire model.

I played Alyx and it was a good thing too since playing it finally made my brain adjust to VR and I no longer get motion sickness with free movement. My next project is a sequencer/loop machine that syncs at a 4 bar interval, so in theory you can do jam sessions despite internet lag, a la ninjam or jammr. I'd start off with trying to import something from vrcmods first, to get a feel for unity and uploading flow. then try importing an mmd model through blender, then try to add some props or clothesswap to get a feel for the interaction between the two.

Something interesting about vr that you can't get with regular games is the sense of scale. Took me a while to figure it out but your mind automatically does trigonometry using known values to estimate distance. Your brain knows the distance between your eyes and your height and the angle your eyes are facing. From the angle of your eyes and the distance between them it can calculate how far away the interception point (ie where your eyes are focused) is. Then comparing this to how tall you are, it gives you a sense of scale: your own height being the general unit of bigness your mind uses to compare whatever value it gets from the above calculation. It doesn't give you a numerical value but you can feel just by looking at something if it's big or small relative to you. In vr you have a screen for each eye showing a different perspective, just like how your real life eyes work, so you can go cross eyed and focus your eyes on distant and close things the same way you do in real life. Your brain will still do these calculations however the relative size of your avatar to the world will be different. What it all surmounts to is if you are in a small avatar it feels like you're your normal height but everything else is fucking MASSIVE and if you're in a massive avatar then it feels like everything is a miniature toy.

what modelling software is the easiest to rip from?

I tried ripped Koikatsu but while I got a good model after a lot of tweaking, Dal's guide wasn't enough to save my blenderlet ass from 100+ materials and upside-down textures.

VRoid has like 10 sliders total for the body so there's not much range for big milkies or even cute pettanko, despite it being a better program for designing models, especially the hair. Is there a way to import more sliders like VaM?
