Some advice on events:

If you want an event to be successful, it's important to get behind it and push it as hard as you can. Tell people in game about it, post progress shots of model creation here, stuff like that. If you just float the idea in the thread it's probably not going to be successful.
Another thing I found when organizing events is that it's hard to get turnout for events that people can't make their anime girls cute for. No anime day had an extremely high non-participation rate. I think the goosebumps event will struggle for that reason - but it's not impossible if you get out there and shill your event.

Avatar events are in general harder to do nowadays since everyone has blender burnout. It takes a lot of effort to get people to dress up.

I'm quite impressed by 2.82 blender once you get to know how to use it.
Seems to have improved their weight transfer system.
Still took me 3 hrs to do it properly though. Lots of meshes and group vertices. Extremely pleased with the results.

The weight transfer has a more intuitive picking process on which mesh gets transferred onto another mesh. There's also more options including my current favorites, projection from normal and nearest face transfers.

The graphics are unclear and there's almost constant MAJOR chromatic aberration (like triple vision) from the suppression effect. The sounds are bad and combined with the weapon mechanics and vest, it has an artificial atmosphere, like a dream. There's a lot of minor frustrations, like the grip angles being wrong, the scopes only working if your eye is almost touching them, ironsights are impossible to see on many weapons, etc. The data point mode just devolves into spawn camping and the VIP escort mode is as bad as that mode always is. I haven't tried the bomb mode yet.

How do I shrinkwrap in blender? I want to make new outfits for my VRChat avatar but I can't get it to wrap properly to the skin. At best it wraps a couple or SOME of the vertices to the skin, but no amount of fucking with the settings gets it to work.

Shrinkwrapping produces generally undesirable results for characters, it's better to use sculpting tools and proportional editing, after scaling the bones of your outfit's original armature to best match the scale of your base.
2.8's Elastic Deform sculpting brush (using the "scale" and "tri-scale grab" options) specifically are incredibly useful for fitting things to your mesh.
But yeah, for this one, better to either retexture the body and have a masked matcap on the clothes part or cut along the body mesh and assign a new material.

the TFG manifold geometry could be done in udon. There was one booth in vket4 in one of the default cube worlds that had a few 3d scans all mashed together in the same space, was pretty nice.
