I have just released one of my biggest projects so far to community labs. A docking simulator! Those who have played kerbal space program know that docking is an important part of that game. I want to get into vr, you guys reccomend the rift s or index and as the index costs over twice as much I'll get the rift s probably. Whats the actual differences between them other than price so I don't make a bad choice.

index uses two sensors you either put on tripods or mount to walls where as the rift S uses cameras on the headset which makes it not track your controllers as well as the index. Oculus recently decided that a facebook account will soon be required to connect to their services so I lot of rift users on here want to make the switch. Index has a lit better display, sound, the microphone is studio microphone levels and the only real complaint I ever see is people breaking their controllers which valve is always willing to repair even outside the one year warranty. The edge I would say the rift has is that it requires less setup, it takes batteries for the controllers instead of just needed recharged and it's cheaper.

Booth models in general can be incredibly unoptimised, regardless of price. You'll want to delete or merge all meshes you don't plan to use to minimise draw calls and tris.

Dynamic bones are arguably the worst for performance so check those and make sure you're optimised - Aim to have no more than 32 transforms. To get it that low you might want to merge bones in Blender, add exceptions to the dynbones, or just outright delete some dynbone scripts.

iRacing is really only worth it for serious competitive multiplayer racing. I'd go with Assetto in pretty much any other case, and considering you can get the full bundle on sale for $9 every few weeks, there's no reason not to have it if you're interested in racing sims.

Does scaling bones in the rig config not work anymore for vrchat? Trying to fix an avatar from tip-toeing since a recent update. Removing toe bone from the rig config just makes the feet go through the ground before it settles. Going into the bone hierarchy in the scene itself to scale individual parts sorta works as a band-aid though, but isn't elegant.

A fishnet painted on the leg is inferior to an actual fishnet that is a 3d model. As you can see the fish net being elevated on the legs themselves. Since this is VR people can get very close.

The detail on the fish net "netting" is also very low quality on a painted on texture unless you go for 8k texture. Compared to a separate mesh on top of the legs that can use a tile-able 256x256 fish net texture material separately.

How do I apply "realistic" gravity to a dynamic bone object? I have a wrist band that has a small charm that hangs off it and it's connected via small chain, the thing is that chain (it has dynamic bones) doesn't really obey gravity when i twist my arm/wrist in directions, like it moves but it mostly remains static pointing southward rather than bending naturally with gravity. Use the Force setting in Y-axis iirc. Then place -0.001 value. Change as needed.
Reduce stiffness of your chain to near 0 or I think it actually works best with 0 stiffness so it will always align with the gravity like a real chain

Is Revive designed not to play pirated games? I installed Revive and the Oculus store, and as far as I can tell, I installed everything correctly, because I was able to do both the Touch Basics demo, and the Oculus demo with the little flying robot, as well as run some crappy free game I found on the Oculus store. But the pirated games I downloaded just won't run. This along with udon and udonsharp is the right approach for vrchat to take, IMO. Just make the official API as low-level as possible and the community build nice tools on top of it, instead of trying and failing to make a good tool in-house.
