This doesn't sound like it actually addresses any issues. You'd still need a menu system of some sort, unless you want to strip away anything that gives turn-based RPGs variety (items, abilities, alternative attacks, etc.), and making one that isn't tedious would be difficult.
You'd still need some reason for this game to be in VR, too. If there's no interactivity, there's no point to it being a VR game. I can't think of any interesting VR integration to a turn-based system that wouldn't just become a more annoying version of pressing A and B on a controller. Action combat is better suited to VR because it's inherently interactive. You have to respond to enemy attacks and stances, change your distance based off what weapons you and the enemy are using, and do so all in real time.
