Unoptimized content, basically. Tons of avatars have literal dozens of materials and pointlessly complex shader setups because they "look cool" as well as things like excessive amounts of dynamic bones with collisions and so forth.

That said even then I find the biggest issue seems to be either the size or amount of textures and mesh data, apparently, because when monitoring my system stats I find my CPU usually only at about 30% ish and GPU at like 80-90 but my VRAM is pegged at 7.5+GB constantly (2070 Super, just for the record).

That's different. That's caused by the number of users across the entire platform, not in a specific room. The API apparently can't take the load so they are intentionally throttling/disabling it to keep other stuff functioning because they spent all the VRC+ money on hookers and blow again.

That said I have been happy with the Q2, you'd have to be insane to say there is no viable compression but if I had to pull a random number out of my ass I'd say it's not noticeable for me 90% of the time. Pub games can fill up on the weekend evenings but the rest of the time it's completely dead. Most of the time they leave the bots turned on so even if you only get 4 people in a server it doesn't feel completely barren. Playing with /vrg/ is an option too. Both are going to be an uphill battle because the skill gap in Vox can feel frustrating. Singleplayer with bots is a good way to practice or to just get an hour of blasting mechs in when you feel like it.

You'll need the base station as well if you want the controllers to work and it won't work with Oculus games, pretty much only SteamVR games. Also it's probably just more worth it to find someone selling their full kit for cheap considering that a single base station + controllers are about $430 and takes months to ship. If it's a static prop, attaching it how you've been doing it in unity is fine and probably the most performant.

If the prop is almost always toggled on (but still want to occasionally toggle it off), like a hat or something, you can use blender to attach it to the main armature. CATS blender plugin has a nice button to do it and assign the proper weights, but it's simple to do yourself too. Then once you have the prop attached, you can add a shapekey, in edit mode select your entire prop, and scale to 0, then use the shapekey in unity to implement your toggle off. Alternatively you can weight the whole prop to a new bone and shrink the bone in unity to 0.

VR sleepers/afkers I need help, since a recent steamVR update my headset display turns off when I'm lying down due to "turn off display after" setting (picture), and soon after my base stations/steamVR as well. I used to sleep all night just fine without headset/steamVR turning off and if I remember right there used to be an option to set it to never, but now the most is 5 minutes. Anyone else has this problem now? Any way to fix it? I want my index to be permanently on even if I don't move for 5+ minutes while I'm sleeping or even just watching something in VR.

Anybody try this? Somehow I hadn't heard of it until recently, but its been out (in EA) for a while, and apparently even syncs the looping playback in multiplayer. I like that the piano lets you swing through the the notes, so you can do fast notes as up and down streams like beat saber.

Players can expect to play a minimum of 2 games, with a max of half the total team count- we're aiming for at least 4 teams, ideally 6 or more.
Players are only allowed to sign up for one team (obviously) and teams need at least 4 out of 6 players on board before signup together.
Solo players, sign up in the same form, and you'll get shuffled onto an approximately equal-skill team to fill gaps, or get assembled into your own team.

That "Turn off Display" option is based off of the proximity sensor in the headset. It's a small IR sensor that's hanging down between the lenses and is how the headset tells if it is on someone's head or not. As long as that sensor senses something, the displays will never turn off. When it stops seeing something, that 5 minute "turn off displays" timer will start. It's likely that your sensor is faulty and not detecting that you're wearing the headset.

Without mods, VRChat only supports 3 trackers. Mods can add support for chest, knee, and elbow trackers, but I haven't seen anyone try it yet.
There isn't anything that supports 2 hip trackers though, regardless of the game. If coverage is a problem, you'd be better off with extra base stations.

3 point is head and hands which is the default of a vr headsets
which means the IK system estimates everything except the head and hand positions
6 point is head, hands, waist, feet

12 point adds knees, elbows, chest and shoulders so it has pretty much everything it needs and there's essentially no IK at that point, your full body is tracked in real time, there's no estimating

Both the jitter and the text rotation are done in the shader. I pulled apart the textures from https://gist.github.com/johan/1066590. I still don't actually understand how unity's clip space Z coordinate works, so if you have clipping issues, try adjusting the Z Offset.
