In terms of VRChat, public worlds are nothing like they used to be. When VRChat was new, there was a brief period where you could go to a public world and have interesting interactions almost every time. Partially because VR was a novel thing, but also because the game wasn't as popular. Quality has gradually declined and now you can't even go to a public world without finding loud children/teenagers.

It depends on your definition of normalfag. These people are good at using memes to blend into 4chan culture, but their internal worldview doesn't truly deviate from the norm. Besides that, /vrg/ nowadays seems filled with loud people who just love to talk about themselves and never listen, while drowning out all the people who might have had something more insightful to contribute. Just seems like /vrg/ meetups have devolved into a pointless contest of dominance and social hierarchy, and that the meetups have attracted people who are after that sort of thing. My experience is that interactions with people on /vrg/ used to seem more meaningful, because both people implicitly understood the value of interactions through VR.

I'm a bit out of practice with unit stuff. I bought a used samsung WMR and it worked great for years even after my cat tried to eat the cable at one point. Ended up giving it to a friend and he still uses it today. I'm using a Vive and FBT right now and it's pretty good. People will say it's outdated and they're not wrong it's a bit low in resolution but otherwise it's a good headset provided you supply your own microphone and headphones. The onboard mic and earbuds it came with kind of suck. I got my full vive kit in good condition for 280$ so a bit less than a quest 2. This was a few months ago on Ebay. The vive trackers were a seperate purchase of course.

How the hell do people play this game? It's terrifying. It's a 5 hour anxiety attack.

First there's the Big Discord currently run by mommy Y. It's been purged and recreated several times for various reasons. It claims to be the "main vrg discord" only because nobody else wants the title.

Next there's several major "cloud" discord servers that orbit specific big names. These servers are mostly filled with players who were originally from and/or are still considered members of vrg, but they're not exclusively vrchat communities. Any active group that's majority vrg and more than 20 people I consider a vrg cloud discord.

There's also a half dozen or so minor "content" groups that are much less active and mostly a way for certain people who were originally vrg to share their shaders, models etc.

Lastly there's the "hidden" servers for controversial things like asset sharing and orgies. I know at least one of them is alt accounts-only and requires you to be vouched for by an existing member because of drama leaking out.

Anons, I'm really not enjoying Half-Life Alyx. I think I've been spoilt with the Combat of H3VR and having better Russells than the in-game Russells, not to mention odd performance issues (game going from 90 to 0 fps whenever I open my weapon wheel and some combat sequences dropping my fps to 20 with a 3070), controls randomly stop working (i.e. Controls revert back to blink only with no turn) Shotgun being worth fucking worthless due to the 2 shells given per level.
The story itself is alright so far, just got to Chapter 7 but I'm just there going, like, fuck me this game was so hyped up and here I am going

Thanks! I made a world to record all of it as it gave me much better control with the lighting, background and environment. Green screening with the VRC camera, which is what I have been doing in previous videos isn't perfect as a lot of individuals have green or shades of green on them, which causes a lot of quality reduction when editing. There were fixed camera positions controlled by switches and I just place the recording camera inside a sphere that projects what the world's camera sees. I will definitely use the same technique for future videos when necessary.

I feel you on the map design, they need to be at least 25% smaller and a lot of the vertical inclines need to be less "all-or-nothing" and more staged like stepping stones so the bigger mechs can actually get into positions without burning an entire tank of fuel just to ascend. Something like a massive refinery or cityscape would be a great addition. The game is for sure a lot less fun with smaller lobbies because the maps and mech balance problems become apparent very quick.

I don't think skill level is a major issue here, there's only one player that I see consistently topfragging and that's because they also play the hard-meta grinders and know them well but that's something else up for debate. The devs have said there's big stuff coming this year but haven't remotely hinted at what so I guess it's a wait and see thing now

/vg/ is the problem, you cannot have a slow general here without being pushed off the board so we're forced to coexist even if it results in the supression of some VR game discussion. There isn't enough demand for a new /vrg/ for it to survive on /vg/, especially if it's trying to branch off of the existing one. Many good generals died because they couldn't sustain the number of bumps per hour and many others should have died but devolved into namefagging, dramaposting and other assorted shitposting.

A new board doesn't have those problems. We can have slow threads for specific games alongside VRC tranny photo dumps without either impeding each other's discussions.
