For anyone who sweats a lot and have to RMA their Index. I assume you're getting grey screen and that is because the Index is no longer tracking. That happens when sweat gets in the headset and dries into a crystalized salt compound of some sorts. It smudges the tracking components. One option is to open up the front panel of the index and use cotton swabs with rubbing alcohol to clean off the smudge on the tracking components. (the things that looks like green squares) I wouldn't recommend this since you can just RMA the headset. Future proof your Index by stuffing paper towels around the lenses so sweat doesn't get leaked into the headset.

There is some issue with PCIe Gen 4, at least on my motherboard, that caused issues when using XSOverlay in VR. The screen would turn gray and I'd lose tracking.

I had to force the gfx card slot down to Gen 3 for this to stop.

You download the latest vrchat sdk, either 2.0/3.0 depending on the booth model. If it’s any good it’s 3.0. You also download the dynamic bones package (20$ on unity store) or beg an anon for it. Make a new unity project with the correct unity version 2018 4.20f or whatever i forget the exact version name import the sdk and dynamic bones the import your booth package. Usually there’s a unity scene file which can be open and you can just upload it from the sdk window. If not then you may have to drag the prefab into the scene yourself and alter a few things depending on the avatar you buy.

Be warned though there are older or less popular booth models that come a bit scuffed so if you don’t know anything best to learn the basics. Might be worth learning some basics anyway as you’ll likely want to edit the textures and adjust the shaders to your liking as a minimum.

Dunno bout WW2, but have a look at Boneworks and The Forest.
Boneworks is ground-up VR with probably the best physics from any VR game... nothing like glassing some zombie to death, very fun.
The Forest VR is a pretty nice port of the Forest, just in VR. Its exactly what you would expect from the flatgame, except in VR. If you want to stab savage natives, then its pretty good.

Honestly, I think part of the appeal of the community to me is the fact that so few give a shit about treading on eggshells about trans shit. Overwhelming, pretty much anything with a screen is for overwhelming for me on phsychedelics. In-game every little detail is distractingly noticable, the smallest movements of a dynamic bone, the flickering shadow several feet away or tiny details on a texture that I would have never given a second glance when sober. It's all so much brighter, in my face and difficult to filter out. Often the limits of the FOV would become unpleasant, I could sit there are feel like it was closing in on me, getting smaller and more restricting until it's like looking through a toilet roll tube. It's also either way harder to maintain awareness of the outside world or difficult to get even slightly immersed.

Not really worth it in my opinion. I prefer to do it outdoors surrounded by nature.
