Just tried out using a kinect with my rift s for the first time with driver4vr. It worked about as well as I was expecting but I would have to recalibrate like every couple of minutes or if I move even 20 degrees to the side. I know it can do better because I've met kinect users that have far less trouble and can sit down on the ground reliably well without having a seizure.

Fuck. This is what happens when I don't mess with unity for months, having a simple issue and I don't remember how to fix it.

I added a dynamic bone to a chain and added it to my model, in unity when I move the model around (in play mode to test the dynamics) it shows the "bone" of the chain moving, but the chain itself is just standing still, as if the bone is not affecting the chain at all yet the bone is wiggling around. I know the bone is weighted to the chain because in blender it properly moves the chain. How do i fix this? blanking completely on why this is happening

What's the consensus on the higher end WMR headsets, like the odyssey+ and the reverb g2? There is no other model at all, it was a fresh made object in blender and I added an armature to it, weight painted it and it all works fine then just imported the FBX but the model just refuses to move with the dynamic bones

My result was pretty similar, although there were one or two small dips into 'High'. I'm not going to get an Oculus product because there doesn't seem to be a way to jailbreak them yet & I only want to use Steam VR anyways. quest lenses beat out index's but the lcd just *looks* clearer? hard to describe but I can have them both side-by-side to compare and any moment and that's what stands out to me

For its price sure it's fine, but there's no need to pretend the tracking is better. It's servicable, but not being able to have your hands leave the view of the headset is a major downside for a variety of games. Inside out tracking will pretty much always be worse than lighthouse based tracking since it's doing a lot more work and it's much easier to occlude your controllers.

I don't know of any VR racing games that have custom liveries without modding, but if you're decent with photoshop, it's not too hard to do. They don't work in multiplayer without the files being shared outside of the game though.

Keep in mind that what we're seeing now with the Quest vs Quest 2 in regards to feature development will happen identically with the Quest 2 vs Quest 3.

By which I mean the Quest 3 will come out and all new features will be for it, the Quest 2 will not get them, even if it is capable of them.

The Quest 1 is perfectly capable of wireless desktop VR but is specifically not supported by Airquest, nor are they allowing for its panel to be overclocked even though carmack specifically told us it could be, there's no hardware reason for it, just certification limitations. Of which it no longer applies.

Enjoy your 1-2 year product life cycles and "having" to buy the new quest when a new one comes out with must-have features yours artificially lacks.

Full fledged feature is questionable. The reason 120 and even 90 Hz wasn't enabled at launch is probably more because they just didn't have the software ready. Probably on the actual OS and firmware level, but also somewhat on the application level. Just telling the display to run at 120 Hz without blowing up is different from optimizing it to run at 120 Hz.
