Some updates on my Advanced Full-Body Movement system. I have a lot to learn before I have a reliable system. I wanted a generic system to do a few things. Able to jump across a gap, and to walk up and down stairs. Right now there kinda conflicting with each other. If I have the gap system going then going down stairs suffers. But without the gap system stairs work slightly better. Some of my issues, not surprisingly, come from vrchat. When avatars are being moved, like im doing with this system, freak out sometimes causing the player to be launched. The other half is the trackers. They like to drift really badly at the edges. and tend to explode when jumping like this. So between those and my lack of unity knowledge I feel a little stuck. So I'll probably spend the next couple of days throwing shit at the fan and seeing what sticks.

Content Manager makes it way easier to get in and out of the game in VR just because the menus are quicker to get through.
You can also bind hotkeys for a few extra things like return to pits with Content Manager that the base game doesn't let you map, but having a mouse close by is still pretty much required to get around the in game menus.

Quest standalone games are very basic because it doesn't have the power to run real games, it's a glorified mobile phone in terms of experience, you're probably better off getting one of those $15 face goggles that you slide your phone into if you want to judge your VR experience off something standalone, with the added bonus that you don't have to put up with the awful oculus controlers. What kind of pc specs are you running? VR is pretty demanding in general compared to flatshit. And what country are you from? Quest is not comparable.

Carboard is shitty stereoscopy viewer with barely functioning 3DoF tracking, which might drift randomly, depending on the phone. And also screen completely not suited for VR with ghosting and shit.

Quest on other hand is properly (as much as inside out can be) 6DoF tracked headset with controllers, which can have standalone games (with 2007 mobile game graphics) or properly streamed oculus and steam vr games (but with h264 compression of the video stream, changing dark scenes, scenes with a lot of detail into mush and adding delay)

Just get the Quest 2. It's real VR and really showcases some of the basic VR experiences at a low price point. They really made a lot of cost reducing stuff to it but it doesn't matter in 90% of cases and it is the market leading unit meaning all the developers focus on it first and everything else second.

Index is enthusiast model really that has advantages in trannychat and PC use cases. Since it doesn't ship to your country you can get the HTC Vive Pro 2 instead which actually has a wireless upgrade over Index but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're really into the PC stuff.

Cardboard vr 3dof stuff is only good for watching 3d porn videos but the novelty of those wears off real fast.
