Seems to mostly be controller alignment and gunstock issues, stuff that could be easily patched. The actual meat and potatoes looks decent enough and is getting praise in Youtube reviews.

I just bought it and tried the first few missions. No webms because I'm a retard and forgot to shadowplay.

Overall impressions are mixed. My main complaint are the controls and weapons handling - On Index the controllers are offset by like 10cm in game from their real life positions. This makes reloading and weapon handling a pain in general, but weapon handling is also funky in general.

Your current ammo count in the weapon is given just above the breech and is always visible. Reloading is sometimes funky because of the skeleton positions. Unlike convention grip is used for all weapon controls, so sometimes its hard to grab a magazine or the bolt/ charging handle. This is made even more awkward by the offset controllers.

Stealth also felt like a meme on hard difficulty - Enemies instantly detect where you are and the Welrod doesn't 1HKO normal enemies, even with headshots, past 25 meters. The "arenas" are generally linear and can be > 25 meters so I was generally going loud in every encounter. Maybe this is a balancing thing though I'm not sure.

That said, overall I enjoyed the game and am looking forward to continue playing it after some patches. At the end of the day, getting a nice headshot in VR feels good. The weapon selection seemed interesting, graphics were good (but still doesn't hold a candle to Alyx), and the mission variety was okay for the first 3 missions.

TLDR: Wait for patches and or a sale. The game will be a decent single player vrfps after patches.

Controllers are horribly mis-aligned, not sure if it's not on purpose, but anyway it sucks. On Index at least controls feel a bit wonky because everything is grip operated (reloading, interacting), but it feels like a surprisingly good game so far, I'm not gonna refund it unless I beat it under 2 hours.

Originally, it wasn't accepting very high damage (way over 999 in points), but it felt unfair because kicking was reaching higher impact naturally, and then game wouldn't count a perfectly legit kick. Maybe i'll bring it back in update will be less annoying now because i changed leg power, and also script switches collider mode to more reliable one so points aren't as all over the place as they initially were, though considering how it uses unity physics, restricting cheat-ability might be pretty futile.

I have a question because it's similar to that guy's thing.

Currently I have an elf girl with big ol ears, the ears have dynamic bones so it moves around as I shake her head. I want to add two earrings to it but I run into two specific issues.

1. If I try weight painting the earrings directly onto the ear bones as is, it "sort of" works. It works as in the earrings are now on the ear and will move with it, however the earrings are static. Meaning they just follow the ear's movement correctly but they themselves do not jingle around like earrings would and are just static non moving objects on my ears.
2. If I add 2 new bones to my ears and weight paint these two new bones to the two earrings the earrings move correctly and work in blender, however when my ear moves using it's dynamic bones the earrings properly jingle around...but they float off away from my ears and do not follow the dynamic bones on my ears as they move...which makes sense because the new ear bones are weight painted only to the earrings and have their own weights..

Honestly I've tried rattling my brain and can't really figure out how to fix this. I basically want a dynamic bone earring to properly follow ears that also have dynamic bones.

You've gotta do both. The ear rings will have a single loop that attaches directly to the ear and then a chain afterwards, right? The part that attaches to the ear should be weighted directly to the ear and the parts afterwards can have their own bones and jingle. That way the attachment point will be solidly attached to the ear and the rest will move. The problem is that unity will draw a line between bones and use that as a pivot arm for the dynamics. It's easier to have a second set of dynamic bone scripts for them but it is possible to get it working right.

When my ear moves (and wiggles around) the earrings move but they do not stay attached to the ear, they are floating in the air because they don't "keep up" with my ear's dynamic bone movement.

Just make sure that Basis is always the selected shapekey while you're doing the edits. If things do fuck up, you can select the shapekey in edit mode where the legs look normal, select the legs, and use the "propagate shape" function to make sure the selection stays the same in all shapekeys.

It should only mess with your shapekeys if it's something those specific faces/verts are influenced by. Some models have shapekeys that adjust thickness of thighs etc and then yes that would cause issues, but if you're just worried about facial expressions/visemes then it should not effect it at all. There is also an easy fix of shape propagate if for some reason it has interfered

2.0 is a big task, they're rebuilding large parts of the game so it's going to take a while before it returns to the polish of the previous version. It's just really buggy right now, like Into the Radius was on release.

Thankfully they've kept all the good features and expanded on them. New gun attachments and upgrades are great, now I can make a tactical TT-30 with supressor and laser or maybe reduce the fire rate of an MP5 to make it easier to control in full auto.
Cheaper ammo and tankier enemies makes full auto or burst fire an actual option outside of the endgame now. Mimics are plentiful even in the beginner areas so gunfights with them will play a much larger role than before, the ones with SMGs are scary when they rush you.
Loot spawn locations are already showing a wider variety than before and new higher value loot items provide an extra reward for exploring.
The 'Tide' has a lot of potential for making the radius feel more like a force of nature; It gets tense hearing you warning buzzer go off, knowing you can't make it back to base in time and wondering where it will spit you out. Hopefully they put a lot of effort into making that feel as cool as blowouts do in STALKER.
