Time to drive mean machines: GT2. We are going to Zandvoort.
This time during practice we'll train our racing lines, situational awareness and dealing with pressure from behind and in front, so try to not split up from the group during practice.

After that we are continuing to ride hidden gems of Europe, this time we are going to explore Slovenian countryside.

When you're in first person it shrinks down the head bone to 0 so it doesn't clip in your view. All your stuff parented to the head bone get fucked by it because the clone that you can see in the mirror and cameras is still somehow affected by this scaling or something. It's local only though because players don't have a mirror clone of anyone but themselves.
Another thing that can fuck it is having multiple things affecting the same movement. Example if you have a rotation constraint and a rotation on a movement it'll be all fucked too but only in mirrors. Pic related had a rotation on an animation and an aim constraint. Works fine looking down but it's fucked in the mirror.

I didn't really like PCars 2 at all, and I really like Assetto Corsa. I'd definitely recommend picking it up, especially since it's on sale pretty much all the time. Just wait for a better sale on ultimate edition if you don't want to pirate the DLC.

I need to give this a try

I tried out a bunch of booth models that were advertised as ready to be uploaded to vrchat but when I import it like the uploader instructed (vrchat sdk, dynamic bones, shaders first) the model's dynamic bone script is missing and the animations are also not working. I'm guessing because I'm trying to upload them with the current unity version and they probably used the old 2018 version? If that's the case, how would I find out what exact version they were using? It's not listed in the readme.

G29/G920 with the Logitech shifter is what I've got, and it works pretty well. It's pretty much the cheapest setup if you want a shifter.
I've heard good things about the T150/TMX if you want something cheaper and don't care about the shifter.
Look for a used DFGT or G27 if you want to go even cheaper than that.

I'm using Thrustmaster T300 with G27 shifter+pedals and i can definitely recommend that. G27 shifter does the job, has extra buttons, and costs quater of a price of TH8A, and T300 is a major upgrade in terms of overall feel compared to G27 base. That being said, if that's too expensive for you, G27 base is definitely doing a good job, even today.

It's kind of incorrect information.

Yes, spinning up causes more wear and tear on the base stations than just regular spinning, but total hours spinning is a larger determining factor for failure.

I had a 1.0 base station fail after 4000 hours of use, with power management on. The other base station that came with that headset has been going for well over 15k hours with power management on and daily use.

Any way you use your base stations is fine as long as you're not powering them on and off 14 times a day.

Hey all, I won't be hosting pypy tonight so long as the video players all have that stupid issue. We end up doing more resyncing than actual dancing and it's kind of infuriating.

From my understanding it seems like a recent vrchat update broke something with youtube-dl. The VRDancing world dev is working on a workaround for it, until that's live, I don't really want to spend my evening resyncing every few minutes.

If someone else wants to host they can, I recommend going to the original pypy world as that seems to work better

any general tips to get better looking result with shaders? specifically using poiyomi pro and it looks okay as is but I feel I can tweak settings to get better results. All I really have is a base texture in "main" and added a matcap filter to bring out a bit of color. Idk

Are A Fisherman's Tale, Wands, or Zero Caliber any good? I'm skeptical of all of them. Doesn't look like you can fish in the first but I do like surrealism, second doesn't look like you can move and shoot at the same time but I like spellcraft bullshit, and any FPS that doesn't immediately look amazing makes me suspicious that it's a shit so idk about Zero Caliber. I just finished Fisherman's Tale. It's so short that I wouldn't pay normal price for it, but it was pretty neat.
Zero Caliber is worth a shot if you can convince some people to play co-op with you.
Until You Fall is pretty fun too if you don't already have it.
Also I've heard really good things about Paper Beast, but I haven't tried it yet.

how important is it to cover windows and other reflective surfaces for the basestations to track properly?
just moved one basestation directly opposite to a window and now i have this really small zone in the middle of my play area that randomly fucks up the tracking of my controller.

Have fun with it. I like Saints & Sinners quite a bit. While it may not have the absolute best melee combat or the absolute best gunplay, it's one of few real games in VR with a campaign of 10+ hours rather than yet another tech demo or something half baked like Medal of Honor. It has actual flavor and polish too. I can't care about The Walking Dead as a franchise, but the game itself handles survival horror very well. The last update hints at another update too that will finally add the French Quarter to the game.

What's the simplest way to edit the texture on my avatar while actively seeing the changes? on the actual model? logically it would make sense to do it in blender I guess? I tried the texture paint mode but it seemed a bit finnicky. I'm trying to essentially copy a color on one part of my avatar and then draw that same color on another part to make a sort of squiggly shape. She's like a demon lady so she has these little runes on her. The problem is just editing the texture in photoshop or whatever isn't good because I want to actively see the changes on the model as I do them

blender texture paint mode is the simplest, but yes it's finicky. I Once you get the hang of it from some tutorials, it's tolerable enough though, and you can always rough in the basics then finish the job in a 2d editor later.

There are some paid unity plugins which let you do the same sort of painting from unity's viewport, but I've never tried any of them. The heavyweight way of doing it is substance painter, or you could try armorpaint (open source, have to compile it yourself if you want it for free though).

On a serious note, it's a very good approach, i was in DR1 league years ago when i only got my first wheel and just going slow and steady was enough to end up midway through scoreboards in leagues/in online events. Shame we don't have enough players to give you a good insight on how powerful not-falling-out-too-much is, but it's really, really good, you make 15s for each time you're not fucking up, and usually that's the 15s someone technically faster than you spends in a ditch. Plus, as future improvements go, it's far easier to go slow and become faster later than to push hard and stop falling out later.

to be fair you just learn how to recognize these pretty early. some of the man tiles kind of look like the numbers (obviously 123 are straight up just the numbers), the 5 you usually see in clients looks a lot like a 5 to me. then i just have retarded memory patterns for the rest. like 8 being a mustache.
