i want a mod that lets me to shoot furries
I could literally go outside right this instant, drive for 20 minutes, and grab a 4080 from the store. Literally. It will greatly improve my VR experience during my time off work the next couple of weeks. I'd be able to play at 90hz maxed everything with no issues instead of at 60hz with some frame drops and stutters here and there, while also utilizing every trick in the book and optimized setting. Except I don't think I will be doing that, because the 4080 is a bad value scam. I will resist. I will wait for a 80ti or for a miracle from AMD. I'm that guy. Disciplined. Calm. Collected. Unbothered. In my lane. I'm him. What do you guys think? Not that your advice and opinions will sway my decision in any other direction, because I'm an immovable alpha male force to be reckoned with, but still. You're free to speak.
>>411786490
on a vega 56, still waiting for the rest of the cards with hope on a fix for the AMD drivers
>>411787227
I'm just wondering how long we'll be waiting. Nvidia might pull some stupid shit if their cards don't sell well, and even then a 80ti, if it even comes out, might either be dogshit, or cost more than a 4090. Who even knows at this point. We can't have nice things after all. AMD are not guaranteed to fix anything either, fucking retards I hate AMD so much.
>>411786490
just buy the fucking card and enjoy yourself you goddamn autist, we are all gonna die soon anyway
>>411786490
The 4080 would be outside my acceptable price range but it rarely seems worth being a waitfag. The only recent instance I can think of where waiting proved better was in 2020 when the September Quest 2 release shit all over recent Quest 1 buyers. There were leaks and rumors early that year so you had plenty of warning and it wasn't too long of a wait.
For GPUs, people said skip the underwhelming 20xx series cards and wait for the 30 series. I waited and was stuck still using a 970. The wait was 2 years plus a few more months due to card/chip shortages with unlucky people waiting up to 6 months after launch to get a GPU. Maybe it's because I'm getting old but that's no small amount of time to enjoy smooth graphics instead of making do with stutters.
>>411788708
>>411789235
Some guy on youtube said not to buy the 4080 and that there will be price cuts and shit. Also pic related plus my personal 147 IQ calculations to adjust the results to match them to what would be an accurate Reverb G2 performance number, tell me that a 4080 will be just good enough, so not really a future proof card.
Do real VR games (not vrgaychat) use more than 16 gigs of VRAM?
>>411796065
no
Unless you turn supersampling all the way up (walkabout mini golf ate over 24GB of VRAM at 500%)
>>411797216
Any point to turn it past 100% at all? I mean I'm on a G2. If I turn it up past 100 I'd have to play at 30 fps reprojected. I'm wondering if the performance increase in VR from a 4080 to a 4090 would be largely due to the more VRAM, because the performance difference between the two really is massive.
>>411780898
One can only hope that they are going to release a broad sdk with level edit abilities
I finally grew out of the vr gimmick bros. Trying pcvr with the quest was a huge letdown. Any hope I had before thinking "pcvr is way better once I get my hands on it".

>>411801070
If it doesn't lock the pump when you've already got a shell loaded like in Pavlov then it's still going to be a little annoying. Playing with the trigger held down I'd still sometimes have some issues staying at the far end of the action or accidentally starting to eject a shell when moving the gun around.
The damage isn't good enough to make up for it.

my biggest annoyance in the game were the shields, it ruined the flow of the game completely
they should've went for armor pickups like in Quake instead
game also felt pretty slow when your teleport charges were on CD, so doubling the movement speed would've probably been beneficial to the pace of the game, too
Do I really have to buy minecraft again but java just for Questcraft? if it's open source I'd imagine the first fork would be crack friendly
>>411808112
You will regret a 7900XTX
>>411808997
I already use a Radeon VII, there's literally no way for it to be worse.
>>411808924
IIRC M$ combined the product line a few months ago
so if you ever bought bedrock you now own java and vice versa
>>411808439
I only played in the beta but I don't remember shields being that big of a deal. IIRC the charge function on the default gun had an AOE effect so you could kill shielded people by shooting their feet.
>>411808439
When I last played it had a mutations mode where there would be random changes to the ruleset. One of them was that everyone got infinite dash stamina and holy FUCK did it make the game 100x crazier. However in their infinite wisdom you couldn't choose which mutation was applied for the match so we only got it once and never again.
Nothing worse in that game than missing the cart by a hair and not having enough dash stamina to saddle up onto it, being stuck out in the open waiting to die and unable to move. Everything else about it was solid and as much as I want to say you die/kill fast enough that you're not really waiting for stamina to come back, it's just a cope. You have to get the stamina powerups around the map every time you get in or you're fucked.

You want something that's even semi future proof, it's 4090 or bust. But even calling that future proof is stretching it, particularly for sims.
>>411835495
>particularly for sims
How come?
>>411835607
Sims, like MSFS, DCS, etc, in general are just some of the more demanding games you can play. 4090 is still damn amazing even in those because still the most powerful card on Earth, but on the highest res HMDs it can have some issues.
>>411836158
>but on the highest res HMDs
Which ones? Don't these games run good on the Varjo with a 4090?
>>411833989
Red or blue nametags are the teamID (0 or 1) you joined. I think it was Blue (0) who always start as defenders, which is confusing because now they're Russian skins but it makes sense if it's a holdover from when the defenders actually were blue >>411833049

Rogan sucks and is only a couple of hours long. Hitman 3 is great, just not in VR due to the lack of roomscale and the graphics downgrades.

Hitman VR is some of the jankiest shit out there, to the point where it becomes hilarious

How's Fallout in VR? Is it worth the $12? How much modding is required? It took me over a day to get Skyrim VR set up.
It's fun to play Hyper Dash again but that neighborhood really went. It's all screaming children.
>>411856903
Without mods, horrible, with mods 4/10 and if you like Fallout 4 probably a solide 7/10
>>411856903
It's gotten a lot better with FRIK and DLAA being modded in. The latter at least fixes on the of game's main issues. You still want a lot of mods, and sadly due to dependency issues compatibility with some FO4 mods isn't that great. The point lookout port for instance doesn't work in VR due to the plug-in that lets you have more dialogue choices not being compiled for VR. It's still better than 95% of VR games even without those mods despite that.
>>411858303

I'm the guy from the last thread who got goyed into buying a 7900xtx day one for vr. AMD gave me till late Jan to return the card, so I'll be enjoying my valve index at 120hz till then unless they magically fix it. If they don't maybe prices will have come down on the used GPUs from last gen making them a better value. As for benchmarks not gonna bother as I can't recommend this card for this reason alone.

>>411959416
Jet Island's good at least. Butt ugly but fun gameplay that's really unique to VR. Don't know about the rest.
>want to play skyrim vr but seated without having to move much
>everyone says its broken and stupid without mods
>play it
>it works well enough, aside from melee combat being a joke
>all the mods for it make it more immersive and would just make me get up and move around to play which i dont want to do
Should I even bother modding it? Aside from maybe the retarded melee combat.
>>411962284
You can't drag bodies around without HIGGS or some sort of telekinesis spell, so I'd at least get one of those mods if you ever want to do the Dark Brotherhood quests.
>>411962817
I'll check that out. Do you have any recommendations for melee combat though? The vanilla melee is way too stupid to take seriously, but I assume any mod I install will want me to swing my arms around to attack and I don't want that.
>>411963123
Planck is recommended for decent hitboxes and actual collision with melee weapons. What you mainly want is an overhaul. Blade & Blunt is popular as it isn't too fast paced if you are lazy but rewards resource management and finding openings to attack. I like it with Strike Obsfucarion System for cool timed blocking mechanics such as bouncing spells back at enemies with timed shield blocks. There is also Inpa Sekiro if you want something faster and deadlier. It copies Sekiro's mechanics fairly closely with the shinobi execution indicator and all that. I like it with Vigor's parrying module so you can attack into an attack to knock enemies off guard.
You can use ADXP beta without the plug-in to stop enemies from ice skating around which is nice. Retimed hit frames is good too if you want to have attacks telegraphed properly.
Some mods like Ultimate Combat 3 outright don't work in VR. I would read the Nexus comments as fellow VR fags are good at noting compatibility issues.
>>411963989
Thanks for all the suggestions, I appreciate it.

>Crisis Brigade 2
The focus on high difficulty spoils it in my opinion. The game throws so many enemies at you from multiple angles and there's no safe way to peek out into the constant hail of gunfire. With no indication that a shot is going to damage you it feels unfair. Your knees also need to be strong because the game will throw tiny pieces of cover at you that will have you crawling on the floor if you don't want to expose yourself. Game length is short like any light gun style game and replays give you coins to unlock stuff or upgrade your guns. The graphics are decent enough but enemies and locations are generic, bland and nothing like the soul in the old light gun games.
>Paradox of Hope VR
Very very early access. Has some potential but wait for it to get some more meaningful content first.
>Requisition VR
I liked the concept but it got old fast. Co-op zombie horde defense is hardly unique and the fun makeshift weapon crafting eventually loses it's novelty. The crafted weapons break a little too easily and have a problem where the damage dealt often doesn't feel like it matches what you've made. i.e a tincan attached to a heavy object deals big damage but a kitchen knife stuck to book sudden feels like a butter knife. Making elaborate traps is pretty cool but again the effort to reward is off because they'll soon break. Against later waves you'll be bypassing the makeshift mechanic and just crafting the OP recipe weapons. Story mode is really just the wave defense but with some movement around the map. Still pretty buggy too.
Fun for a couple of hours with friend showing off your dumb creations to each other but not much reason to replay.
>>411968958
alright. Thanks a ton anon. Ill just stick with replaying more Sweet Surrender and wait for more games and content. wish Compound would go on sale

Aren't they working on the San Andreas port?
going to trade my xbox series one s for a quest 2 with (maybe?) broken controllers. that seem like a decent deal. I have a HP VR1000 that works fine right now but I do have issue with losing the controllers in view of the headset sometimes and its accuracy isnt good. is there a cheap way to setup really good cheap controllers that assist the cameras?
Tried the FUS modlist for Skyrim VR and it works pretty great. I had a few minor issues I need help with and google didn't get me any answers
I use Reverb G2 and tried to play with the VRIK controller bindings, but they didn't work and it just made me use the vanilla ones instead. Only thing google says is you have to have the controllers turned on before you boot up the game, but I did that.
>>412007197
No, the LA Noire VR devs are. Problem is with how that 'Definitive' version of San Andreas ran, they got a lot of fucking work ahead of them unfucking that port to make it usable on Quest 2 before any redoing of the blurry textures.
>>411967571
With 10-24 players per server that's 16-50 full servers, of which you can only join one at a time. There's good variety in game modes, ability to just open your own public 10man server whenever you want, automatic downloading of workshop content (maps and game modes) as you join the server. It's alive and best of all not quest compatible, a mistake Onward made. VR is just smaller because those gargantuan fat slobs that make up the typical gamer cannot play vr for extended periods of time nor competitively. You have to be somewhat fit or at least mobile to play vr at a level where you can actually compete. Flatshit you can be completely immobile except for your fingers and wrists and still top the scoreboards. Plus it requires a good computer as well as dedicated hardware to even begin. High price point, high(er) fitness requirement... It's niche and always will be. VR is fantastic for sure, but there's a reason why phone games make up the majority of the games market and it has nothing to do with the strengths of vr.

I keep my G2 connected at all times, even though I obviously rarely play it, because it's a G2. I've noticed recently it's been randomly turning itself on on it's own. I have the new cable with the little power button and the LED light that shows if it's on or not. I randomly take a look some times and the light is on. No there's nothing to touch the power button on accident.
>>412131359
Yeah they went a little pants on head retarded with the amount of grinding you need to get literally anything. The stripetail is rare, hard to catch, and you need 150 of them to summon one of your own. The boss is the only "quick" way to get anything, and it's not even soloable. So you have to keep world hopping to hopefully find a place where the boss is about to spawn and there are people to take it down. Then do that for hours.

That was a meme, but what did you mean by your question? The quest pro tracks its position the same way any other headset does, it keeps track of points of reference from its cameras and calculates its position with them. In a headset with base stations, those points are infrared lights, while other headsets like the quest pro use an AI to find points to track in the room you're in.

The valve headset is pretty outdated at this point with only the FOV as the biggest advantage. Clarity, resolution, is much better on the Quest. The index has a pretty horrible glare issue that you’d have to live with and there’s no wireless feature.

i can give you a question instead
LED HMDs provide deeper blacks than LCD HMDs
think about if you want a pretty good black (LED) or if you think you can adjust to a slightly greyish black (LCD)
iirc, ive spoken to at least one person with both LED and LCD HMDs, and he said the LED was more black
i think he said he could read text better with the LCD one
>>412177268
To be fair, i once came from the CV1 Oculus and at first LED felt much better but once i got used to LCD it isn't really that bad and eventually you don't see much of a difference as long as you run it at like 80% brightness since the Index as an Example is pretty bright on Standart settings.
>>412177051
No problem with mine :P
>>412177578
wait a second
does the greyness go down on your LCD HMD when you turn down the brightness?
do you still keep the clarity that is the huge benefit of the LCD one, even with brightness turned down? i think i used to play with my LED HMD with 33% or 25% brightness, can't really remember right now
What do you think about Marubody?

>>412179358

On average, I've been getting 8 hours and never close to 4 hours.
>>no finger tracking
Oh no... I can't be fully immersed as a tranny on VRchat? Seriously though, if you're truly a valve shill then you should realize how little finger tracking is supported and the controller has been out for how long now? Half life Alyx is the only good game that have full finger tracking support.

>>412196979
>Bonelabs
Oh yeah, you're TOTALLY missing out by not getting that...
>>412192337
Individual finger tracking is a cool gimmick that is very under utilized. Most people who do take advantage of it use it for VRchat and that’s it. I’d argue that hand tracking on the Q2 has more use than finger tracking because you could watch media without your controllers or play games while your controllers are charging. Vrchat for example can be played without controllers. The strap is the only great thing but the fact that it’s not optional gives me mixed feelings.
As someone who has both controllers. The Pro controllers has far better build quality, better QC, better ergonomics, it requires zero base station while offering similar tracking, has way better haptics, has better weight to them, the buttons/joystick are far better, and charging the controllers is far more convenient because it comes with a magnetic dock. Also, Battery life is arguably better since it can last up to 10 hours. You can possibly tell me the Index controllers btfo the pro controllers just because of finger tracking and a strap.
>>412204197
Also, forgot to mention that it has a much smaller form factor with zero tracking rings to get in the way. The triggers feel a lot better too and the price difference is minimal.
>>412194464

Yo, I was trying to throw together a budget VR pc, and I'm having a tough time deciding between the 2080ti and 3070. I hear VRAM gets eaten up quick so I'm thinking about the 2080ti, but from a quick google search, people seem to prefer the 3070? which one do I pick, or is there a better option around 400$~?
>>412206831
I was talking to a friend about this today, they have a 2080 and i have a 3070ti and we were both experiencing the same issue
we came to the conclusion however that both our cards had 8GB so ideally you'd want 16, but i don't think you'll find that in that price range
i have just lost all confidence in spending my money on steam since i cant even fucking search for games properly apparently
explanation: how come when i filter VR only games with online co-op on the steam store it doesnt show windlands 2 anywhere in the list whatsoever??
how many other good games am i missing out on because of this broken search engine crap?
it literally shows it is those two things exactly and i filtered by NOTHING else. what the actual fuck steam
>>412209251
yeah so it seems VRAM is definitely going to be a bottleneck. guess I'll go with the 11gb and hope it's enough.
Did anyone play Deracine on PSVR? I hope the fact it was on the Nvidia leak means it's coming to PC along with PSVR2. I don't think it was the ideal VR game, the frequent loading screens near the end kill any sense of immersion, but I loved the story and tone of it. Although I can't imagine FromSoft will touch VR again, it makes me wish they would

I wouldn't call it convenient, but emuVR can play video with spatialized sound. though only stereo afaik, dunno if it can do multispeaker setups. vrchat/neos/chilloutvr can do surround sound but it's also inconvenient to transcode to h264/bake subs and run a local http server just to get videos to play in vr.

Kinda late to the party but I'm going through HL2VR atm; what's the reasoning behind removing the auto reload from the pulse rifle? Just seems dumb changing it from base game to me.
Also I swear I could see the laser on the rocket launcher clearer in the flat game.
Obligatory Ravenholm is fantastic being able to rotate my hand with the gravity gun.
>>412370501
The base HL2 pulse rifle reload animation didn't really make any sense. You don't pick up the little circle things, the ammo pickup model was the entire round clip thing on the end of the gun. Problem is the gun only lets you carry three pellet things total for balance reasons so you can't have it work like it did in Alyx.
Really the entire pulse rifle was practically unfinished even in the base game so I think they just had to do their best imagining how it was supposed to work in VR. In HL2 it's not even a full 3D model.

>>412484197
The only one I've seen make it a moral thing is in H3VR. In general they're getting deprioritized because so many VR games are made by solo or small dev teams. Why spend all that time making human enemies, with a range of reactions and interactions, when you can simplify everything to the functionality and complexity of a zombie? I hate it.
>>412485623

The mech controls are good, but the gameplay is really bad. The damage model is essentially incomprehensible and feels like total RNG in practice. The pace is incredibly slow and the slightest mistake gets you killed but it takes 5 minutes for that to happen. Some players clearly understood how to reliably get kills, but the majority just rammed each other and things because it was more reliable.

>>412503490
skill issue. it is certainly a high TTK game though, which throws a lot of new players off, coming from low TTK pavlov or contractors or almost any other multiplayer VR game. It's best played like a moba, where most of the time positioning your team and harassing from afar until you can commit to a big fight and blow all your cooldowns. Once you get good you can recognize when an enemy is out of position and out of cooldowns and go for a gank, or bait an enemy back to your team, but until then you're best sticking with the pack and focusing your fire. Otherwise you will suffer deaths that feel 'unfair' and 'total RNG'. There's additional tactical depth on using your shielding effectively like in webm related, but it's secondary to team strategy. like a moba.
That being said, vox still has gameplay holes that you can really only work around with gentleman's agreements not to cheese. The small mechs (drill and hopper) can easily run away forever from the big mechs once you're winning in team deathmatch, and the objective-based gamemodes that would otherwise balance big mechs are all unplayably flawed in other ways. I wish they'd add a proper attack/defense mode, or static control points. or at least a way to enforce no duplicate mechs on each team.
>>412501774
Possible? Maybe. Good? I doubt it.
PSVR on PC was not good, basically just converted it to a 3DOF headset. Trinus did have a very limited 6DOF webcam tracking mode and you could use SteamVR for janky roomscale with multiple move controllers and PS3 cameras just like people do for full body tracking.
For PSVR2 you need to look to where progress has been made for other inside-out headsets: This year Monado, an OpenXR runtime for Linux, implemented SLAM tracking that can potentially work with every HMD that has a camera. Currently WMR headsets and recently the Rift S have 6DOF for the HMDs and even hand tracking without running their respective propietary software. The controllers aren't 6DOF and there are issues with drift but it's not as unlikely as I first thought.

Its fits so incredible well. Got it to add to the seasonal spirit, but likely going to keep it. Black and white puts less train on the eye than brownish grey, though phantoms become nearly invisible

I'm talking about when I find an enemy facing the opposite way, fire every weapon I have into a gap in their armor 20 times to zero effect then die in 3 seconds when they turn around.
Why are VR game devs allergic to writing good AI?
You find anything in the sale worth buying yet, Anon?
>>412517456
You're probably blowing half your weapons/heat at medium range (reduced damage), then wasting your movement fuel jumping in closer to try to get the kill, then you're a sitting duck for their fully close-range counterattack. Stay at a safe range/high fuel, blow your load, juke their counterattack while you cool down, then go for the kill in the second volley. or better, lead them back to somebody else on your team. There are very few loadouts that can kill a 100% enemy, especially at medium range.
>>412519786
idk I didn't really play any of the games I bought last year
>>412520002
I spent 50+ hours trying to understand it. I tried everything I could think of. It was genuinely like my damage simply didn't register. The breaking point was when I found a heavily damaged hopper with missing armor and limbs, fired everything for very close range, saw it all hit non armored parts, nothing happened, then it killed me from an undamaged state instantly.
>>412519786

>>412524410
I wonder if Vermillion feels better with back of Quest Pro controllers pressing on top of real canvas
My problem with Vermillion was difficulty curve to get right muscle memory, considering brush is in the air, and canvas can't be physically touched
For oil painting, correct angle is important, and it just hard to get it right
But yeah, overall it's very relaxing, needs correct mood though too, was hard to find myself in state of painting this year

Ai is hard?
>>412526284
It isn't that hard, I'm a robotics engineer.
It doesn't take that much to make some cover entities that NPCs can stick to.
Most flatscreen FPS games are capable of making decent AI, why are VR devs having such a hard time?
>>412527810
most dev teams are 3 tranny garage companies. they cant pay rent for an office, so they cant pay the wage of some specialist that isnt doing it for free
>>412524389
welp, your destiny may just be worm food then. Hoppers do have a gay feature where the crab claw instakills if it rubs you the wrong way, but overall it sounds like you're just bad at CQB situations. stand back, let the pros handle it, shoot your missiles and cannons. Vox's netcode can also deceive as damage effects show locally even if the hit doesn't register remotely; mostly affects long range. The hit indicator on the crosshair should be accurate though, so you can lead your shots based on your latency, like quake.
>>412531630
There was a big physics and collision overhaul, so it might be completely different now.
>>412531630
NTA but I never liked the balance of the Hopper. It's got huge mobility advantage which is too valuable in Vox, smaller size with big plates that make it harder to hit the hull, instakill arms that hit backwards too, can stomp kill even a Dredge without much damage, doesn't feel nearly as fragile as Drill and the 3x small slots isn't even bad in terms of heat:damage ratio.
I got pretty good at countering them but it was mostly baiting or punishing their mistakes, not straight outplays. Skyjacker rarely felt like a proper counter unless multiple teammates had them. Closest thing to a worthwhile counter was the railgun but I hated how it eventually turned the game into kite and snipe.
Hopefully that's all changed with the new physics and weapons.
>>412534467
skyjacker was upped a long time ago, and it became pretty painfull.
Killing dredge by falling on it usually leaves you with red legs or one leg (but they are just dead weight anyway, leul).
Tripple mini rockets are good damage, but you need to keep pinging quite long to kill.
I wanna try new physics, and expect hopper to be quite less effective.
>>412534467
indeed, hoppers are/were S tier. the 3x missiles on them are ridiculously accurate too and skyjackers never seemed to do much. I honestly haven't played since the new balance and weapon patch, so hopefully it is better now.

>>412601226

>Buying an entire VR headset just for one game seems a bit extreme

>>412590180
The player of an instrument has agency and is able to be creative, he can decide to follow predefined sequences or adapt and modify them, even go so far to modify the instrument he is playing on to adapt the sequences being able to be played. A rhythm game in and on itself doesn't really offer agency, or if, just the illusion of it, always limited by the games logic; there is a way to play the game "perfect", where in playing an instrument there isnt any objective solution, because there are only subjective problems.
This might be a general "problem" for gaming in and on itself, but of all the skinner boxes that have been build in the gaming industry, rhythm games offer the least ways for the player to exert agency and be creative.
So this answer might be the right >>412398335

So if you stepped into water with low stamina you would instantly start drowning. Most of the pools of water have steep edges that you can't climb back out of too so you'd just slip into the water and not be able to get back out. Either that or you'd sprint through what looks like a shallow stream, dip your head under the water for 1 second and the combination of water reducing stamina and sprinting reducing stamina would make you instantly start drowning. All of this made worse when you're heavily loaded which slows your movement speed. That and them making heavier loads slower will probably be pure pain and suffering.

It's okay, worth a try for $10. Unlike on Quest you actually get the same game as the flat version although it's missing the DLC and the VR interactions are weirdly buggy. That would be good by VR standards but the poor optimization is holding it back. The game can look really good when you're not turning the settings down to potato or forcing reprojection.

This shit is crazy with increased spawnrates turned on.
First mission put me up against a spawn, fragment and seeker before I even stepped foot in this little compound. Then once inside there was a PM mimic. Climbing up here somehow attracted 3 more seekers, an SMG mimic and an armored fragment from out in the anomaly field.
Glad I reduced their health so headshots were easy kills except for the armored guy.

>>412780751
I don't want to use their discord either. I think at one point they said they were taking a heads-down approach and taking feedback from the first few weeks to improve the game, but I think that was mostly in reference to making tower climb easier. Good chance they're just going to "let the community fix it", honestly.
>>412781287
What is there for the community to fix? Their campaign is okayish. The pace is shit, and nothing can change it, its what they released and they have to live with it. What the community could change, if the right tools would be released would be to give the game replayability, after all, I thought it was supposed to be G-Mod for VR.

Don't move fast in their field of view, shoot first, serpentine if you get caught in the open and bring enough ammo to kill them all. Headshots on mimics and core shots on fragments deal increased damage, I can't remember what it is in vanilla but for the STALKER mod it's 4x. The guns in ITR are also very accurate so you can even snipe with a PM against unarmored mimics.
My preference for increased spawnrate combined with this mod allowing enemies and loot to spawn anywhere makes the game feel far less predictable. Pic related scared the shit out of me when on only the 2nd mission a Harvester came out of seemingly nowhere to block me into the hangar after I rushed in to kill the rift. Somehow I managed to kill it with a PM but it is on the reduced enemy health setting.

It is suspected to be for headset processing tasks to reduce demand on the PC, not for standalone use.
>>412901876
Then based?
>>412901928
Possibly. It may not actually happen. I think it would significantly improve the usability of the headset if it allows it to maintain a genuine standby mode so it can boot as fast as a smartphone unlocks. Maybe give it a basic OS that allows you to change settings, and do some simple tasks like viewing media, webbrowsing, and whatever lightweight apps developers can think of to put on it. That would give it some useful standalone ability without being an expensive add-on.

I doubt you mean the official version since that's an antiquity from the Rift/PSVR era.

You don't need to much. Get UNP or CBB3B for naked women, Schlongs of Skyrim for naked dudes, Sexlab and its VR patch, and then whatever Sexlab add-ons you want depending in what you are into. The only VR specific thing is the VR patch for Sexlab. You can look at the guides on /teslg/ or the Loverslab forum itself.
>>413054265
So you can use those to get them naked and also have sex with you, but what about actually making them hot? A lot of skyrim sex mods seem to be focused on making your player hot, but for VR you'd specifically need stuff to customize NPCs. Which I know exists, but how do you go about it?

I've been enjoying the fuck out of Ancient dungeon.
>>413054893
There is an entire guide on the /tesg/ site about that, and it isn't VR specific. An easy way to go about it is to use bodyslide and a bodyslide preset you like from Nexusmods to make everyone appropriately curvey.
>>413056407
I'm confused, is bodyslide stuff just for the player or for NPCs too? I'm retarded so I'm probably missing something but I thought the stuff about NPCs for that website was just NPC replacers and all the customization stuff was for the player.
>>413060652
It applies to NPCs of the body type you choose. However you can use a preset for your own character in Racemenu.
>>413060739
So what I'm gathering is bodyslide covers absolutely everything for a characters appearance, both player and NPC, except for hair, skin texture, and clothes?
>>413061231
Bodyslide when you run it will cover the NPCs bodies and the default Racemenu bodies. It doesn't cover their faces. You can load bespoke Racemenu presets too that cover everything when you are creating your character.
>>413061463
So you can't customize NPC faces like with a preset? You can only use replacement mods?
>>413065227
You have to get an NPC face replacer to replace their faces. Bodyslide won't do that. I like the bijin NPC mods as they make the characters look attractive without getting too anime. Everyone has different tastes of course.
>>413051909
Is it worth it?
I've modded oldrim and SE plenty of times before but that means I also know how ungodly janky it can be. Will being a nord dicking down khajiits and argonians actually be enjoyable in VR?
is there anywhere where vrchat devs upload the maps the make for free? finding free unity maps seems oddly difficult. The official package website just has sdkv2 stuff. I just want to make a nice beach cabin to chill in and play billiards alone while I'm drunk, preferrably that looks like the coast of oregon. >>413123563
>I dont think its the games, but dont know if its an issue of marketing or gamers being conservative in their choice of medium
I don't feel the same because there is no issue filling lobbies entirely with vrg(g) players if the game is new/good
the issue is keeping them because they all get bored of them after x time because they're lacking in some way of another and fail to keep you playing for a long time

While the locust mindset is true there are still games being played here regularly for months/years. Pavlov, Assetto Corsa, VTOL etc. Outside of the autistic core for these games players quit for various reasons; Content burnout, skill imbalance, novelty wearing off and other games vying for their attention.
That last one is important. Not only are VR games competing for time with VRChat's social validation but you have flat games with decades of refined player retention mechanics offering a lower effort option. https://store.steampowered.com/app/892970/Valheim/
mod install/update instructions are at https://www.notion.so/beastsaber/VHVR-Valheim-VR-Mod-Guide-d71c3bb046004a049ab5786aaba10bb0, though the current version on github/nexus is broken with mistlands, so you'll either have to join that flatscreen to VR modding d*scord to find the beta build from the dev, or I've mirrored it at http://file.vrg.party/VHVR_M_StaggerSystem_attackfix_cursorfix.zip (dude trust me) . There are several settings you need to tweak to make the game bearable too but I can't remember them off the top of my head. if it's you're first time playing, give the settings a look through. The performance will never be good unfortunately, so get used to a cinematic 24 fps.
You can add and join the dedicated server at
host: valheim.vrg.party
pass: 19841
I'll keep it running throughout today, whenever you want to pop in. The server is established with a big base at the center of the map, but there's plenty of room to explore still. Hopefully the mistlands generation kicks in properly.
If you want voice chat, we use mumble. point your client at voice.vrg.party.

current explored map for reference. Also since you're necessarily running mods I recommend installing https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/40?tab=files&file_id=10536 so you can craft from nearby containers. Inventory management is bad in the game and worse in VR, so save yourself some annoyance. also mirrored at https://file.vrg.party/Craft%20From%20Containers-40-3-0-1-1672167007.zip if you don't want to log into the nexus jew for 16kb download.

>Hopefully the mistlands generation kicks in properly.
pretty sure they mentioned in the patch notes that you have to start a new world, no?

I use it while chillin mining space rocks. Unfortunately the performance is so shit in VR(you're forced to render to the headset as well as a desktop mirror) I can't do much more with it yet. I will get a beefier gpu in the next year.
with just, it's not very fun. You need the whole rig to actually enjoy it. Headset, hotas, voice attack, and recently I added OVR toolkit. If you don't already have a pretty solid hotas setup, don't even bother getting a headset since using a keyboard with the headset on is just not enjoyable.
Now, I enjoy several VR games so all the peripherals aren't exclusive to elite dangerous. That said, I have like 300 hours in elite and will likely clock more but I have to adjust key binds a little at a time to make it comfy. I'm still making minor adjustments but doing a dog fight in VR with hotas and voice commands is primo as fuck. The initial setup phase is the most tedious part and if I hadn't had a week off with no distractions, I'd probably not have gotten it done. Eventually buying a yaw chair and a vest one day.
>tl;dr: Don't buy for only one game. Just borrow a friend's headset for a weekend and try it. If you like it, you may find there are other games you like
Since I started with beat saber and the roomVR and then got the flight sim itch. I also have phasmophobia but I'm too much of a bitch to play it and I love horror games in general. Horror in vr is a different beast all on its own.

it should work in the unexplored areas of the map.

>primitier has constraints and physics but no multiplayer
>valheim has multiplayer and more mechanics but no engineering
Being a primitive engineerchad is suffering.

rip piggies. that new bat event got to them. have to close up that barn.
thinking of getting the pico 4 but the 90 hz limit seems really dodgy. doesnt that give you motion sickness? nowadays i dont like looking at sub 90 fps in most games unless they're specifically games where the viewpoint doesn't move quickly (ie. fighting games and souls games)
the other headset i'd like to get is an index for the 144hz but it'd be much more of a hassle to get it

desu kinda disagree desu, 40 series seems like a basic repeat of the 20 series where the main carrier was gimmicky bullshit to make up for middling performance gains in order to justify scalper prices. Waiting for the 50 series seems like a better idea so you don't get hit with a $450-600 card being equal to or faster than your $1600 one 1 or 2 years down the line.
>>413159920
>desu kinda disagree desu*
Should've made the box wider.
>>413159920
If price isn't an object, no you're stupid and the 4090 is that silly. It murders the 3090 by anywhere from nearly 50-80% in VR, sometimes being actually double in edge cases. Everything else is shit but that card is legitimately crazy and so far from middling performance.
Nvidia jumped from Samsung's incredibly shitting 8nm, which is just a refined 10nm from them, to TSMC's refined 5nm node, they pretty much jumped 2 entire node tiers, depending on how you wanna look at things. A jump like that isn't going to happen for the 5000 series and pricing is clearly fucked. Especially for VR, next gen will probably be a more typical gen on gen gain. DLSS 3.0 isn't even in VR yet.

Rest in peace piggers
>>413160480
Like the 20s series. Asking consumers to play beta testers for experimental hardware. Waiting for the 50 seies is the smart move
>>413164339
Not the case, cope.
>>413164859
You are right. The move is to wait for the release of the 60s series to get a 50 series at a discount.

It is an OS issue I ran vrchat on my 7900xtx on windows 10 just to have it crash in 10 minutes on new years, so I rebooted to my install of opensuse tumbleweed and it all just worked without a single hitch until my controllers died and I didn't feel like getting my packs. So we've gone full meta where now you HAVE to use Linux on AMD for VR. The only issue that is not OS specific is that neither system will run the Valve Index at 144hz as the display code is the only component shared and its fucked on both, I've even ran their latest commit to their Linux kernel AMD-DRM-NEXT brach so there's no fix in the works yet though the behavior of the failure did change so their are at least flipping bits! You're going to want to use a distro with the latest stable kernel, and mesa which limits you to Opensuse Tumbleweed and Arch Linux, or Gentoo. In order from least difficult to use for someone who doesn't care to peek under the hood to most.

Forgot to mention while YES steamvr works in Linux, its an unstable piece of shit to get started and in general has quite a few quirks, but once in game things work as normal.
>>413009761
if you want something SteamOS-like or gaben-sanctioned go for arch or an arch-based distro like Endeavor if you can't into reading a wiki or using a TUI
SteamOS is just arch + gamescope + gamemode + mangohud + steam gamepadui + a kde session and a switcher between it and the "game mode" ui
SteamOS as it is is not good for desktop use because it would wipe all of your shit when you update if you add any extra packages by default, and would require workarounds to bypass this behavior
KDE is alright
x3d only slightly bottlenecks for 4090, its still really good
>>413160190
>>413167152
No it's not an OS issue and nobody asked about your garbage game.
>>413174979
It is I can play no mans sky maxed out on Linux, are you happy now that I didn't mention the taboo game anon?
when you try to tell someone something in vr and all you get is that grey robot stare
how do you guys keep ending up in the wrong general?

they're mentally ill and have room temperature IQ, that's how
At least they prevent this thread from falling off the board

Post ACC results.
any local coop games for fools who bought two quests?
>>413167152
That is making me feel good about the Deckard if VR on Linux has gotten so good. All I hope to do in the future is play some Beatsaber on the go with my pirated set up rather than the limited Quest version.
>>413198383
look up/try panoptic, though that only requires one headset
>just finished up using the last of my time off for 2022 by being off for 2 weeks at the end of the year (2.5 if you count from the friday my vacation began)
>have to wake up for work in 6 hours
im not ready for it...
the 2 weeks were great, but they went by so fast. i was able to catch up on anime completely, and i knocked out some of my games backlog. thanks for recommending the index, its great. my only problem is that its blurry sometimes when i look at stuff. for example, ill be in a flight sim looking at something in the distance (microsoft flight sim for example), and the airport will be very blurry until i get within about 2-3 miles of it. is there a way to fix the blurriness like this that occurs in some games?
>>413198372
Acc? Sorry just started playing still haven't repaired the ship, it was a rough on boarding figuring out the controls while dying of heat.
>>413198902
Yeah I'm glad Linux has come so far I used to test patches for games over irc a long time ago now most stuff just works, the best part is that if valve ever becomes completely cringe they enabled a platform with no restrictions

you're gonna bake a new bread, right?
