Some anons were talking about XS Overlay last thread. Had a question, my PC is pretty decent but I want to be able to play some games with the overlay while inside VRChat. What are some settings/options in either VRC/XS/steamVR that I need to tweak to make this work correctly? obviously this is much more taxing on my system since it's running a full desktop game while in VR which is running a very gpu hungry game (vrc) to begin with. I want to give this a try!

Enable input blocking so that you don't end up sending your inputs to VRC.
Your best bet would be holding a gamepad while your overlay is open, as the only game you'd otherwise be able to play is a mouse-only game like Slay The Spire.
Just anchor a window in your playspace (head-attached or hand-attached sucks for this) and play a game on it. As long as the game has focus and not VRC, you should be able to use your gamepad to play the game and not have it interfere with VRC.

There really isn't much you can do on that front. Disable MSAA in VRChat so that you save on VRAM, turn down the graphics settings in the other game you're playing, enable avatar hider in VRC and set a low max download size so your VRAM won't all be taken up by avatars. Can also block Very Poor/Poor avatars and un-show people (not hide, just not "show"). VRAM usage will be your biggest problem here because VRC tends to take up almost all of it by itself.
You may have to limit yourself to simpler/2D games like Isaac or Pizza Tower or Deep Rock Galactic, don't expect to play Elden Ring while in VRC.

Redirected Walking physics.
The technique of Redirected walking relies on doing circles or loops with relatively small radius. The physics behind curved forces are defined by f=(mv^2)/r. f is the force, m is mass, v is velocity, and r is the radius of curvature. The max force and mass are fixed constants and deriving the velocity nets a relationship of v=sqrt(r). The velocity is proportional to the squareroot of the radius. This means that if I want to double my velocity, I need to quadruple my radius, for the same force being applied to my legs. This is issue 1. The second issue is that, in small radii, the difference between the outter leg radius is significantly greater than the inner leg radius. This drives extra forces on only 1 leg, something very undesirable for running long distance. This is issue 2. To go along with small radii, turning at this speed is awkward for the inner foot twisting it. The shape or pattern of running is that of a slot or a really small track. 2 turns and 2 straights. To make turning negligible, the ratio of circumference of the turns to the total distance in the loop must be very low, making a very long room, not possible, If we go with increasing the radius until its comfortable to run then the room becomes a big square, which can be fine but most rooms are never going to get to that size. Just a roundabout way of saying that rooms are too small.

with my mass of 66kg, speed of 1.6 m/s, and a radius of 2 meters the centripetal force is 84.48 N or close to 19 lbs. and acceleration is 1.28 m/s^2 (0.13g). Imagine hanging a 20lb weight sideways on your ankle. Under nominal running conditions this is suppose to be 0. This radius is still to small so i get the awkward twisting in my inner leg.
If we assume that 84.48 N is the maximum force and increase the radius by completely clearing my basement(r is now 2.5m) then the velocity can increase to 1.78 m/s. under these conditions (1.78m/s =3.98 mph) a marathon will take 6.58 hours.

I doubt that the small increase in playspace size will be enough to do a full marathon. Its been a few days since just 5 miles and my ankle is hurting and my leg is a bit sore.

Lets see what radius would be comfortable.
With 84.48N, a velocity of 3.129m/s(7mph a good pace), and the same 66kg mass nets a radius of 7.64 meters. This is starting to become the size of indoor tracks(something i want to do). I got a feeling that starting around 6-4 meter radius would be good enough to pace to attempt long distance running.

Maybe it was changed in the last 15 years but I distinctly remember there being a huge difference in shots to kill between difficulty levels, which is why it's one of the few games I've played on easy and have used it countless times as an example of bad difficulty settings. For some reason i can't get slimeVR's lower legs trackers to calibrate properly. no matter how many times i try to move the leg forward it also moves to the center. (left leg goes to right and right leg goes to left) Any tips on that?
Also are foot trackers supposed to 'merge' with lower leg trackers? they seem to show as a single ankle puck in steamVR

The actual physical location of the trackers matter a lot as well. Try positioning the trackers on your thighs more toward the inside of your legs, that seemed to work for me.
Also, the foot and ankle trackers do indeed merge together into one.

Hell im still missing the batteries (which will hopefully arrive this week) - For now im coping by having 5 powerbank strapped all around my body.
Also, i suck at calibration and there's probably not much reason to try calibrating them right until get the bateries in housings.
As far as i tried it was pretty decent, however theres also the drift compensation feature that i haven't tried yet. Im running BMI160 which i was told were the way to go instead of crappy MPU and expensive BNOs
