I can see why people get Dirt Rally 2.0 and do a club race or two before giving up. In the latest one I drove what I think is good, no big crashes, tuned the car, and i'm still like 2+ minutes behind the next guy. Have the regulars been doing this every 2 weeks since the game came out? It wouldn't be bad if there were at least ghosts to know what i'm doing wrong. In singleplayer I always get #1 or #2 so that's no real help either.

If I was more thin skinned i'd have dropped it by now, and it's fun to play, but it gets a tiny bit discouraging being nowhere near the next guy and always having a pure red line on the left the entire time.

Even if there were a wider variety of skill levels I don't think i'd consistently show up because competing to be on top of the scoreboard isn't motivating enough for me.
If I want to scratch that rally itch it's just easier to play when, where and how I like in singleplayer. Particularly because it's a hassle to set up my wheel.

Last time I looked (which has been awhile) some of my avatars do show up on ripping sites. I use them everywhere including public worlds and club events so it's not really a surprise. Despite that, I have never seen my avatars used by anyone else in public or on social media or anything like that. I just don't think there's a lot of demand for other people's avatars.

Spoofing avatar IDs and using them straight out of vrchat is a lot easier anyway, and people don't even have to see your avatar to do that because they're just loading it from vrc servers as if they were you. Ripping outputs avatars in a weird way sometimes and generally if you have the expertise to set up an avatar off ripperstore or something you can just make a decent avatar on your own (the unity work isn't done for you)

Just did the first mission in chink CoD. Completely unplayable on an Index at the moment with the grip angle meaning that I had to hold my gun sideways to even try to look down the sights, and I hate the reload system since you just put the new mag near the old mag and your character does it for you including dropping the bolt and even the old mag if you don't do it manually, but I actually like the system they're using for snipers where you can half pull the trigger to get a significantly reduced effect on moving the gun to allow precision shots ala ITtR's hold breath system. Right now the badguys are bullet sponges since you have to play through arcade to unlock "realism" mode, but honestly, if they fix the underlying systems, I think the game has some potential as a great single player shooter somewhere between lightgun on rails experience and CoD campaign. Perfect for turning your brain off and shooting some stuff, with co-op even.

The controller angle fix is simple and I'm sure they'll patch it soon enough. They might also change the reload system in "realism" mode, idk. I don't mind bullet sponge enemies too much since they get staggered on hit which means they aren't shooting you while you're hitting them, and your health regen syringe is free and comes back on a timer so you don't get overly punished for getting shot anyway. I do like the nade system where they're mounted to your wrist instead of your chest so they're easier to use, as well as having your primary weapon on a single point sling style rest against your chest. However, pistols being in the same "slot" as your secondary weapon means you draw them from over your back instead of off your leg and also preclude you using a second real weapon, though I'm assuming this is intentional since the riotshield + pistol combo feels like it'll be very good. There's also a current problem with it playing sound depending on whether it's in the foreground or not.

Having to sit there waiting while the animation plays is even less fun. Once you develop the muscle memory, you can top off your gun juice in Pavlov in under .1 seconds to keep shooting, especially if you don't have to rack the bolt. The reload animation is pretty slow here, and they did keep the 1 in the chamber system for reloading so if you empty your gun, it takes even longer as your character slowly engages the bolt release/charging handle.

There is no one you truly have to race against other than yourself. If you're better than you were yesterday, you should be happy, and that should be your primary goal. I know it's not nice to have no one to compete against, but believe me, when you drive some more, you'll find people within your bracket to compete against, and once that happens, you'll have a blast. Skill brackets in this league are very diverse, it shouldn't take a whole lot of time for you to get close to someone from the bottom, I'd say it's gonna be much easier than you probably imagine at the moment.

For example, I'm on the top most of the time, and I've been playing this game since first Dirt Rally over six years ago. Those people might just be recording the game window without realizing there are other options. A surprising number of games don't have right eye mirror options and some that do don't work for whatever reason. It was broken in Pavlov for years because of a UE4 bug.

Having played Crossfire:Sierra Squad for a while, I can see why it's getting such bad reviews but it's probably the most fun I've had in a badly reviewed VR game so far.
It feels like a mix between Call of Duty and an arcade light gun game with a soundtrack similar to Dynasty Warriors.

Still the game has some glaring faults where it commits VR sins that suggest it wasn't tested properly.
>Controllers don't align when using grip to two hand weapons (there's 2 modes, one where you hoverhand and another with regular grip)
>Reload is semi-manual and too generous with it's assistance (a little is fine, technically Pavlov has snapping and animations too but far better tuned)

They've also made the mistake of putting their worst foot forwards. The default settings are like a PSVR game and the first few campaign levels give a poor first impression. Jumping into the co-op levels and being able to buy/customize your guns is when the game got better.

Alright, first hotfix is out for Sierra Squad so it's now playable on an Index, and I've put some more time into it. I still don't like the reload system, but as things have gotten more and more hectic with waves of dudes coming in at me, I don't notice the animations as much since I'm too busy doing shit though them being slow as fuck has gotten me killed. The lack of a sprint button to get to cover is a glaringly noticeable absence unless I just can't find it, but I am liking the enemy variety. Them having weapons scattered over the map makes it seem like I'm supposed to be picking them up and using them as a 3rd gun to have more bullets when a big wave comes instead of needing to reload, but force gripping stuff is janky at the moment and doesn't work well. However, they did give me the riotshield + pistol combo on the map to play with and it felt really fucking good so I'm looking forward to using it more. Overall it really reminds me of those light gun games that I used to play the shit out of at arcades with how tanky the badguys are and the various types as well as flashing indicators before something dangerous like an RPG is fired.

Those guns laying around are a good way to try out other weapons, I think they might even be upgraded versions so they have better stats than your gun might. There's a 'stealthy' co-op level in a blizzard where they have thermal sights and picking one up essential if you don't want to be firing blindly at enemy icons.

There's a lot of focus on the controls but I hope they fix some of the other jank. Crouching is all fucked up and picking things up is awkward.

Yea, I'd like to see the crouching system fixed as well, but the big emphasis on the controls is because are the first things you interact with and also they should be the easiest things to fix. The black screen effect with the scope is also an interesting idea but really poorly implemented since if you're using something like the VSS that has autofire, you can be holding it far enough away that you're in the normal view but then recoil will have it bouncing back and forth over the line where the black screen effect engages. Overall, if they polish things, I think the game is going to be exactly what I was looking for in the form of a casual pick up and shoot things experience that has a lot of replayabililty.

Alright, so I figured it out because of a random loading screen tooltip. If you hold the "drop mag" button, it'll show a little trashcan icon that then has you dropping the gun when you let go which then means you can equip a new gun in that slot by placing it there and letting go. The two weapon limit is still dumb since pistols are competing against actual guns and drawing them from over your shoulder is annoying, but now you can swap if you find something better on a mission.

Then you have the cost of the high data throughput cable which will be at least another $100. So you're at ~450 now, $250 for the rest of the components including the optics isn't unexpected. I can never understand this. In vr you can watch on any kind of screen, in any kind of position, in any kind of theater, and with friends living thousands of miles away. How is it shit? Unless you have an old headset with an obvious screendoor effect

Finished the campaign, messed around with a couple of realism mode missions but realized the various unlocks are gated behind doing the squad missions and trying to reach out and touch people with iron sights is pain since you get to bring the guns you want on realistic mode. Overall, the reload system still bothers me a tad since racking the bolt is fun, but only actively annoys me on the P90 where pressing the drop mag button means your offhand manually takes it out which means if you've got the muscle memory to drop the mag before inserting the new one, you have to grab the new mag after doing so instead of on the way since it despawns the one in your hand. Balance between the guns seems pretty terrible, burst weapons do an insane amount of damage compared to a comparable automatic or even a single bullet from a DMR which takes about the same amount of time to get out, but after learning the forbidden technique of using my main gun in the secondary slot with a CQB gun on my chest to pull out if I'm getting overrun, I'm having a blast. The scoring system is completely nonsensical, with me getting As on missions where I go down and Bs on missions where I don't sometimes, but only matters for determining how much money for upgrades you get at the end of a mission and upgrades are largely cheap anyway. Gun pointing feels like it's entirely driven by your main hand instead of being able to slew it with your offhand, but that might just be the effect of the virtual stock. While the game isn't everything I want, it's close enough for being a game that I can turn on some music and go blast some AIs instead of having puzzles and atmospheric horror. I still need to try the horde mode, but that will be tomorrow perhaps.
