It's not the best in everything all at once any more but it's probably the best all rounder. The pico 4 pro would be a winner but it has "ordering from chinks" issues where if you get a dud you're just FUCKED so it's a big risk.

Two more weeks.
Stop with your retarded forced meme, shills. Fresnels are fine.
Especially when you can get Q2 for basically free (<$150).

a 150$ used q2 will get you a cum stained yellow headset with cheeto dust and cum in every seam
>>447809752
>a 150$ used q2 will get you a cum stained yellow headset with cheeto dust and cum in every seam
No, those go for $120.
Comfort is the deal breaker for qpro.
It also doesn't help that it gets worse and worse with every "update".
>>447809752
setting up a proper wifi net for the qpro is more of a hassle than just using a wire to connect to ur pc and having a lift so the wire is never in the way. in my current home i would have to drill through several walls to have a good wireless setup
>>447809752
ok zuckerberg
>>447810023
No, wire is cuckshit.
Everyone who shills for has a battered wife syndrome.
>>447810023
most people do have internet hookups in the same room as their gaming pcs, so i think that might be a you problem my friend. are you playing wired PCVR on a pc on wifi or something?
wire is horrible unless you literally only play without turning
>>447810023
>in my current home i would have to drill through several walls to have a good wireless setup
If you can use your headset wired, you well can use it wireless even better, you absolute retard.
The cord from your PC just goes to the router, instead of the headset.
>>447810350
heres a rough drawing. is placing a second router in my pc room really enough?
>>447810746
Yeah, that's literally how it works. You want a dedicated router anyway.
>>447809752
I like how none of your complaints actually addresses what makes the index good
>>447810828
well i would still have to drill that hole to lay the cable and thats through a wall + ceiling. i think thats too difficult for me

UNBELIEVERS BEWARE
THE TIME FORETOLD IS AT HAND
>>447810946
Imagine gaming on a wireless connection.
>>447810746
Yeah; you don't need a wireless access point to access the internet, you just need one to access your PC.
>>447810946
Not at all; you don't need to turn ethernet into wifi; you can have a repeater AP that just forwards traffic from itself to your internet wifi hotspot. You only need a good signal between your PC and your headset; and you use a wifi access point to bridge that link.
>>447810845
not sure what you mean, a corded headset with bad lenses and bad display that looks like a brick on your face is like 90% of its features covered
>>447810168
>wire is cuckshit
and using a facebook product isn't?
>>447811040
i use a powerline if that makes you think higher of me
>>447811068
> You only need a good signal between your PC and your headset; and you use a wifi access point to bridge that link.
OOOOOH NOW I GET IT thank you anon you explained it better than everyone else
>>447811169
As for the specifics of setting one up; you need to create a repeater hotspot on your PC using either a wifi adapter or create a mini network with your PC and another router.
I'd have to google the specifics but it's doable.
>>447811159
>facebook is cuck shit
>people paying full MSRP to valve for 5 year old hardware that theyve abandoned and released 1 out of 3 of the games they promised
>not cuck shit
atleast facebook spends the money i give them on VR....valve just takes your money and spends it on CSGO gun skin artists
You guys are really mean to voice changer users.
>>447811456
Good.
>>447811159
>i use a powerline if that makes you think higher of me
Why would you need to drill shit then, retard?
You buy a second router. You pull the internet cable from your PC's motherboard and put it into the second router's WAN socket. You get a second cable, plug it in LAN port on the second router, the other end goes to your PC.
That's it. Simple, easy and no repeaters and other garbage which can potentially interfere, that the other retard recommended.
Literal skill issue.
I just bought the facebook usb wifi dongle because I'm dumb

>>447812061
It's Meta Connect week
>>447812204
Oh yeah if you're american, the newegg pico4pro is a great headset.
>>447811531
i feel like the way youre describing this is not very good and very misleading. the powerline im using is a repeat so what from the other anon told me.
my powerline functions as a repeat, so i just plug the second router into the cable from the powerline and then plug THAT cable into my pc and also use the router number 2 for my vr headset??
>>447812448
america is healing
>>447812485
repeater* i mean whoopsie
>>447812485
you are correct
or buy the facebook wifi dongle
it's a little pricy but at least you can just plug it in instead of messing with routers
>>447812485
I've got my powerline into my router and router set up as AP mode so it forwards all DHCP request from my main router, then cable from router to my pc and that's it. 5ghz network just for my headset for about 70$ and you can create a 2.4ghz one for other stuff and eventually slimetrackers or w/e.
Wifi6 minimum and Wifi6e if you plan on getting quest 3 but I'm not too sure if it's gonna improve streaming quality. Even with a mediocre wifi 6 router you can push 200mbps which is more than enough for most games, haven't seen any that have stable signals for 350-400mbps bitrate when moving your head around.
>>447812485
>i feel like the way youre describing this is not very good and very misleading.
Sorry, you are just braindead. I've literally told you what has to be done in the simplest terms possible.
I don't know what is misleading.
And based on the picture, looks like you understood it.

>can do this over and over and run it forever
>>447813316
>>use eyetracking and volume rocker to open virtual desktop
>>dont have any oculus SW installed on my PC
Pajeet, just so you know, you need to have oculus software installed for VD to work in the first place.
Next time put more effort in your shill copypasta.
>>447813609
wtf no you don't
>>447813673
Yes, you do. VD relies on oculus drivers.
>>447813279
i got it because the other anon explained it better. you threw around technical terms like everybody has the same experience as you but thats not reality. describing things instead of using technical expressions is a lot simpler
>>447813752
I'm literally using pico 4 right now and I never installed any occulus shit, only the VD Streamer program and that's it.
>>447813990
Have trouble reading, retard?
>>own a q2, qpro
>>447813940
Uhm sorry anon you don't get that you need an RTL openwrt chipset in a 802.11/b/c/ac/n DNS enabled DHCP zone or you'll get routing packets from your class C confused with the router in the WAN
>>447814290
we have an 802.11c now?
>>447813752
this is not true, VD doesnt use oculus drivers at all. it has its own encoder/decoder. the caveat is that steamVR itself looks for the oculus runtime if youre using an oculus headset. if it doesnt find it it instantly crashes. you can create fake oculus runtime files to get around this, since its not actually using them. (this is part of the oculus-less github project)
if you simply want to look at your desktop via VD, for example, you dont need oculus runtime at all.
pico and vive XRE for example are considered generic headsets by steamVR and therefore dont get this check
>>447813940
The level of "technical knowledge" required to comprehend my post was being able to read labels on your router.
>expecting anon to be able to read
>>447814524
im going to stop replying to you because you type like the autist that argues in here a lot. please do something better with your time like learning knitting. goodbye
>>447814486
I think they've got some emulation layer to get the Occulus runtime working and it's greatest strength is faking being a quest 2 to every games so game compatibility is the best. I've never had to change any bindings in any games so far and I've played like 100.
When pirating stuff you can force games to run via oculus runtime with VD by right clicking the streamer program in the tray bar > Launch game. Don't even need revive or whatever that emulation program is.
>>447814879
It's not my problem that you are retarded yet have strong opinions about stuff, like
>wireless is harder to setup
The solution for you is to type less and read more.
>>447814879
based
>>447814893
the VD dev claims that they intercept the oculus runtime to do that, and yeah even with qpro steamVR recognizes it as a q2. although i wasnt sure if that was for a reason or just lazy dev. we'll see if he updates it for q3 i guess
>buy quest 2
>connect to network
>use shittiest cheapest aterm router given to me by ISP (NEC aterm wg1200hp4)
>router is one the opposite side of the house as my vr room
>boot up virtual desktop

am i just lucky?

The thought of video game controllers overheating is so bizarre to me
Open up Blender, buy some assets from Booth, rip some assets from games, it's time to get world building. you have 3 months and the theme is winter, anything even vaguely winter themed is fine.
All skill levels are welcome. If you want to build everything from scratch, that's great, but if you want to use booth prefabs and just learn the basics, then that's okay too. There will be a hub world with portals so anyone can visit the worlds at any time but for the event itself the host will have pre-favourited the worlds so they can drop friends+ portals
An email address/discord account will be provided for submissions soon, or just post your world ID in the thread.

I don't like how this makes a generalization out of people who played or reminisce about old VRC. There are those kinds of obnoxious nostalgiafags sure, but not everyone's like that, and there are better points and arguments to be made about what 2017 VRC was like. I don't know if it's even possible on non-quest VRChat yet but this gives me hope for an actual hand tracking passthrough in Virtual Desktop instead of the emulated set poses. Actual camera-based hand tracking absolutely mogs the index's sensor based one.
>>447833521
camera based hand tracking is awful though, even in standalone games its way too slow. it would really only be for tech demos and not functional in games
>>447833974
You're right about it being fiddly unless you intentionally cater your speed of movements and range of hand motions to the limitations. However, I think the current state is more than acceptable for VRChat and it will only improve from here.

Booth characters look best when their original design is kept intact, but leaving them completely default would make you impossible to identify. Recoloring the hair/eyes, and customizing the clothes a bit is a good compromise.
What I never understood is people who buy a 50$+ booth character model just to change their design so much it's completely unrecognizable. What even was the point of buying the character model then, seems like an unreasonable price for just a few spare parts
>>447883826
This has to be the most retarded thing I've seen today.
There is usually a bit of conflict between looking good and originality. Some people value originality to a point where they are willing to look worse to be more original. For others, it's not much of a priority.
It shouldn't be too hard to understand that different people have different preferences. Unless you're autistic.
>>447884223
>There is usually a bit of conflict between looking good and originality.
Skill issue.
Imagine foregoing the options of looking good AND be original.
>>447884376
Not everyone has the time to grind out booth tier modeling skills.
In fact, I don't really think anyone here has that level of skill. We have some talented people but I don't think anyone could produce a top tier booth model from scratch. Even the people who do sell the top models on booth sink a ton of time into them.

The VRC devs are retarded and somehow both expect everyone making shit and using it to be beyond merely functional at Unity/Blender while also providing no tools or documentation on how to get your avatar into an acceptable range if it didn't start there. While the community has done some great stuff, the VRC devs are far to slow to even update their instructions and readme to reflect tools that have been out for long ass times while instead pointing at things that are broken and outmoded like Cats plugin.
>>447885493
There is value in staying true to the original design. For me personally, the design is part of what makes me want to use that model in the first place. It seems to me like sticking premade hair/clothes on a model isn't really that much more original anyway, so I like to keep it conservative.

Why would you pick a model based on the clothing/hair it's wearing? The entire point of using a Booth model is that there is a support ecosystem for it with clothing and such that you can easily purchaseread; pirateto customize it to how you want to look. The base model is about the face shape, the expressions, and the body build, not hairstyle and clothing.

that's really a matter of opinion, but I think 50$ is a complete waste if all you are getting out of it is a base body to use. The character design is part of the value, not just the hair clothing but really the whole character design together. Usually swapping out the clothing is best since the default clothes tend to be boring, but in eyo's case specifically even the default clothing is vastly superior to anything I've seen available. The hair is a more integral part of the design so I'd argue that changing the hair really detracts, but I have seen good alternative hairs on booth here and there
>>447891131
Given how much time people sink into VRC, compared to most VR games especially, I don't think the cost is really something to worry about even if piracy wasn't rampant, especially in the context of people also dropping large chunks of change for the headset and FBT. While I'm not insisting that you have to change the default hair or clothing, which would be hypocritical of me since I do use the default hair since I like how it's styled, picking your base model on the basis of something that you can easily change instead of liking the way the things that are much more immutable look seems silly to me.
>>447891820
Why would it have less value just because it's something I can change? I think it varies person to person what parts of a model matter the most, but to me the character design is 90% of the reason for picking a booth model. If i just wanted a body base, I already have like 100 good body bases in the booths I've pirated, but a good coherent character, designed by the booth artist, that appeals to my personal tastes is more appealing to me. It's kind of like importing a model of a character from an anime I like.
I've been using eyo for a long time, I have tried many different outfits and hairs but it all felt bad because no matter what I did I just didn't like it in the same way I liked the original model, So i ended up splitting into two avatars; one conservative import that's just eyo, and then one which is original, highly edited to be more personal, but vastly inferior and unsatisfying visually

>>447892515
Because if it's something you can change, you can change it to better suit your desires and so considering it when deciding to commit to a model is silly. If you were choosing between two models, one with a good face and bad clothes and the other vice versa, which would you pick? The answer is everyone picks the one with the good face, because they can change the clothes. You finding a base that you like the face on and the outfit is great, but picking a base solely on the criteria of what comes in the box instead of what you can put on it is a poor decision. What you're arguing for is closer to looking at the clothing options and making sure that the model you like has clothing that you like as well, just that you happened to get lucky and it was the base option.
If Valve actually doesn't announce shit within the week of Facebook's event, besides SteamVR 2.0, I can't wait to see all the Deckard Copium huffers to shut up for a while.

Yeah, the original author's name is probably lost to time now. Most, if not all of EX-MOD's cars are stolen from other modders. I think most of them used to be up on Assettoland, and it's a shame they got shutdown because they at least tried to credit who made what on their website. It's not like they were reselling other peoples' work, just some of it was just leaked payware (which I don't care about because honestly fuck most of these sellers). While some of the cars may be considered abandonware, some were/are still in development. AFAIK, that asshole doesn't even bother to fix any of the issues they have and it's just a straight flip. At least they're not encrypted (yet), so someone who really likes and understands some of these cars - and preferably knows how to model/animate - can fix them and bring it up to snuff, assuming the original author has indeed abandoned them.
>>447894691
Really what I'm arguing is that there's nothing wrong with sticking with the original design if that's what you like, it doesn't mean you are uncreative or unskilled. Choosing a model because you like the overall design is a good and common reason. To me the outfit doesn't matter that much, but the hair is at least as important as the face, since most booth faces look pretty good on their own (but not as good as eyo.) and the hairstyle is the next most important part of the design typically. There's no reason to change it to better suit my desires if it already perfectly matches what I want, and for many booth characters, the default hair and other aspects suit it better than other styles that I may like better overall. For booth characters with a strong visual theme, changing the hair, outfit, accessories etc just results in less coherency
The hard truth is that the original designs look better than what 90% of people make out of their booth edits, I also think it's fair to find value in the design made by the skilled professional.
>>447894993
You mistakingly assume that I won't be posting about Deckard being released in 2 weeks to cope with no announcement being made anyways.

>>447897423
>there's nothing wrong with sticking with the original design if that's what you like, it doesn't mean you are uncreative or unskilled
I would argue that no one loves every last little facet of any model out of the box, but the problem with not changing anything even if that was the case is that 99% of people who don't change anything is because they're unskilled and lazy; trying to pick out the .1% who just fell in love with the model as presented in the picture isn't possible nor worth the time.
>but the hair is at least as important as the face
But why? Swapping hair is fucking trivial even if you're not limiting yourself to hair made specifically for the base, and picking one with a face that you like less because you like the hair it comes with is big dumb since you can fix that in a couple of minutes with even basic levels of knowledge.
>I also think it's fair to find value in the design made by the skilled professional.
3D modelers aren't fashion designers nor hair stylists, anon, and there is no correlation between the technical skill and the ability to make a coherent and stylish outfit in the creator. You can argue that face is stylistic enough that it has some relationship with those, but even that is a big stretch. You're normally buying a model because of the technical prowess of the creator, not because they should be sending clothing down a runway.
>>447898123
I just don't agree with the first point. There are plenty of people who use a booth character model because they like the character. I think "99%" is a result of you projecting on them.
>Swapping hair is fucking trivial even if you're not limiting yourself to hair made specifically for the base, and picking one with a face that you like less because you like the hair it comes with is big dumb since you can fix that in a couple of minutes with even basic levels of knowledge.
what I meant is that it is the next most important part of the visual design. It doesn't matter how easy it is to swap out. The hair makes up probably around 50% of an anime girl's visual design these days. If you remove the hair from anime characters it would be difficult to tell many of them apart.
>3D modelers aren't fashion designers nor hair stylists, anon, and there is no correlation between the technical skill and the ability to make a coherent and stylish outfit in the creator
completely wrong here. The 3d modelers are also artists who designed the character. 3d modeling skills wouldn't mean anything if they designed an ugly character design, and also a skilled visual designer couldn't make a good model without the 3d modeling skills of course. Not all booth creators are skilled character designers but the successful ones generally are

>There are plenty of people who use a booth character model because they like the character
There is a difference between liking the character, and being so in love with it that you find every part completely unchangeable.
>The hair makes up probably around 50% of an anime girl's visual design these days. If you remove the hair from anime characters it would be difficult to tell many of them apart.
If you can't tell apart most Booth models by simply looking at their face and recognizing the distinctive eye and mouth shape, much less the body style, you might need glasses, anon. The question isn't about anime characters in media, which is about their design since they are a fully finalized character and the consumer can't ask for Madoka with Mami's drills and Saber's face. The question is about what base model are you going to build your personal avatar from, and using something that can be fixed as a disqualifying criteria for that is counter productive when trying to make exactly what you want, within the confines of your skill.
>3d modeling skills wouldn't mean anything if they designed an ugly character design, and also a skilled visual designer couldn't make a good model without the 3d modeling skills of course.
Knowing how to sculpt a face and rig a face that looks good in the varied settings of VRC is a technical question and you're buying that technical product. There are people who set out to make ugly models, and do so amazingly to the point that people buy and use them because they still manage to look impressive. You already note that not all the technically proficient ones have a good eye for the quintessential clothing nor the ideal hairstyle, so once again, insisting that the outfit that comes out of the box should be a determining characteristic if you don't like it but like the underlying body is silly.

>if you can't tell a booth model apart by . . .
I can, but only for the booth models I am very familiar with. Anime faces only have so much variation. Booth models are still like anime characters except you can change them.
>the hair etc
all I said was the hair is equally as much a part of the whole design as the face, or nearly as much. It's part of the appeal as a whole. I don't think it's impossible to find a model with bad hair that you still like, but It is unlikely to catch your eye

You're saying that ugly models are not ugly. People do not buy ugly models. It takes technical skill but artistic skill just as much. Look at all the popular booth models and tell me which ones have ugly designs. And I already said the outfit isn't as important, I didn't say it should be the determining characteristic

Steam VR 2.0 is just an half assed port of steamdeck ui as vr overlay. You still even get steamdeck button prompts like R1 L1, some vr functionality is missing like exit vr game, exit vr, shortcut to game controller bindings or game specific video settings missing, or hidden somewhere I cant find, vr settings stick oit like sore thumb graphics wise.
But you can easily use steam chat/calls in it and keyboard finally has language options, but no control key still so you cant ctrl+c ctlr+v still. Oh and keyboard eats inputs if you type too fast
Its all so tiresome
Ended up buying knuckles controllers and a quest 2
>>447915101
Weird combo but okay for a vive upgrade
>>447915101
You forgot dongles
>>447915451
Oh right yeah unless you plan on having your vive still plugged in to act as the pairing for the controller you'll need special dongles
>>447915101
>wasting money on knuckles and vivetracker instead of just using Q2 and investing in a better GPU
>>447915532
Thatlls be another 50 bucks or so https://tundra-labs.com/products/steamvr-dongle
>>447915586
Also this; the Q2 controllers are actually really good
>>447915627
NTA but I would miss the finger tracking if I update, as scuffed as it can be sometimes.
>>447915627
Not REALLY good. But they are fine.
Losing tracking from occlusion when you two hand the pistols is very obnoxious and pisses me off a lot in games where you can't just hold grip to "glue" your second hand.
Have to hold it weirdly to work around it.
But it's mostly dev issue honestly, retards at valve and vertigo 2 nigger didn't get it right, but pavlov and itr did.
>>447915972
>dev issue
yeah, a headset dev issue
>>447915627
They're ok. A lot of occlusion issues and I've had a lot of stick drift issues
>>447916268
Technically, it's both, but not coping with the issues of the most popular headset on the market signifies simple incompetence from a game developer.
>>447914863
Steam VR 2.0? They had an update?
>>447914505
Go back to sleep and never wake up.
>>447916480
Stick drift on Q2 controllers is usually fixable by cleaning it out with some electrical contact cleaner.
>>447916526
Not from my experience, it may be a temporary fix but eventually it gets to the point where it makes no difference
>>447916710
Damn. Might be possible to do a thumbstick replacement if you can find the part name on aliexpress
>>447916710
When it stops helping, a replacement potentiometer is $2 on aliexpress.
>>447916762
>>447916784
I've done this multiple times. All I'm saying is the problems do exist and I would not call the controllers "really good"
>>447916950
Nobody denies the problem, just saying it's easily fixable.
And it's not like index controllers are any better in that regard (if not worse).
>>447916950
I would be interested to know how easy the soldering is; because I've done the index controller myself and it is a pain.
>>447917035
No soldering, just a bit of a pain to dismantle
>>447900832
>Is it worth trying yet?
yeah
>>447917035
No soldering required. A couple of screws plus a FFC cable.
>>447917101
Easier than index.
How is stick drift not a solved issue yet? it only seems to be getting worse with every new controller
>>447917501
A hall-sensor potentiometer costs $2 more so no controller will ever have one
>>447917501
It has been a solved problem for 25 years.
You the answer to that question.
You know*
>>447917574
I wonder how much money overall the retards at valve lost RMA'ing all those controllers just to save those $2.
Early batches had ~100% RMA rate.
>>447917884
In their defense; the dev-kit knuckles they had worked just fine, the sticks lasted years on those. Smaller sample size but I'm inclined to believe it. But when they scaled up the thumbsticks on those were garbage and died within 3 months. Nowadays a new index controller is as good as the dev-kit and the thumbsticks last years again.
The story I highly suspect and tell people is that valve got chinked by the manufacturer and they went with a 2 cent cheaper thumbstick supplier rather than the one their dev kits used.
>>447918002
>The story I highly suspect and tell people is that valve got chinked by the manufacturer and they went with a 2 cent cheaper thumbstick supplier rather than the one their dev kits used.
Ass pull guess, but I'd assume that some [thumbstick module factory] that was the most popular one around just dropped the quality without a warning. It's most unusual how until ~2015, controllers were lasting forever, and then suddenly every single big vidya company (except for xbawks, i think?) got sudden thumbstick issues.
I would unironically pay $10 just for hall sensor controller if both versions were available for purchase.
This penny pinching on expensive products is so fucking retarded.
Reminds me of cunts at intel putting thermal toothpaste under the IHS instead of soldering it just to save 60 cents on $1800 CPU's and screwing the thermals in the process. Made my boycott intel. Still boycotting it to this day.
Never forgive disrespect.
>>447918297
>except for xbawks
Nah, everyone uses exactly the same potentiometers from ALPS.
>>447918549
Penny pinching saves the company millions of dollars over the products lifetime. It will not change soon.
And they can't just "raise the price" since the price is one of the first things they set.
The Xbox 360 controller has sold like 150 million units. Saving 10 cents per controller is million dollars of profit.
Same goes for the Intel CPU etc.
>>447919265
There is normal saving money and there is stealing money by degrading the user experience.
It's a spit in the face of the customer. Blatant disrespect.
It's especially outrageous when the product is expensive or targets the premium market.
I want to kill every kike who values immediate profits over customer satisfaction. Literal cancer demons. Plague.
>>447919974
Would you pay millions of dollars so the controller you make breaks in 4 years instead of 2 years?
>>447921042
Would I pay 101% instead of 100% to make the reliability of my product twice as good?
Yes.
The immoral goblins who say "No" are what got us to the market full of products which function correctly in the warranty period and disintegrate into dust the day after.
>>447915586
Already got a 4070 a little while back, just looking to try out the knuckles as I've always wanted to. Then I started seeing the difference between quest 2 and vive with screen door and thought fuck it
>>447922226
>4070 for vr
My condolences.
>>447922295
what's your pick?
>>447922701
The whole ada generation is fucked, except for the 4090. They cucked the memory bus too much, it hurts badly on extremely high rendering res, which is vr all about basically.
4080 at the very least, I added a bit extra and just got 4090.
Not cheap.
>>447923108
I got a 4090 too but I've barely played VR ever since and other than that if I play any games at all it's Diablo 2 (non gaysurrected) as well as HOMM3 and Dragon's Dogma. I'm not sure what else to use this piece of shit scam card for. Index 2 better come out fucking now so I can start enjoying VR again.
>>447923316
Resurrected was good
>>447918297
Keep having people tell me there's nothing wrong with dualshock 4 but the amount of controllers I burned through is retarded. Meanwhile, my 360 controller has zero drift or stuck buttons after being stuffed into boxes and collecting dust, having soda spilled on it, and experiencing a large number of impacts.
>>447923370
Cap.
>>447916525
You need to sign into steam client beta and steamvr beta
>>447925196
Oh so you didn't even play it?
Pros: Looks great
Plays like the original
Quality of life fixes/updates like shared stash and a few other things
Cons:
Blizzard cuckware. The game autodeactivates itself if you play it without their bnet client for too long (I played mods on it and since that bypasses the client...)
There honestly aren't even any more cons, it's a good remake. If it was free from blizzard cuckware it'd be pretty much perfect. Consider pirating it and playing singleplayer.

>>447925386
Stop lying faggot shill. It doesn't look great and it doesn't play like the original. QOL fixes are all trash.
>>447926098
I've been playing D2 longer than you've been alive most likely and I can tell you the remaster is decent.
>>447926167
No you haven't. Stop larping blizzdrone.
>>447915101
>Buying Fresnel lenses in 2023
You could have gotten pico 4 for the same price
>>447922295
my 3070 performed pretty well in the games I was playing in VR
I only experimented with the early headsets where the resolution was absolute trash. What's it like nowadays? I know the official spec resolutions don't directly translate to looking at a normal monitor, but how would you say the experience Feels relative to looking at a monitor?
Like if youre looking through a quest 2 is it roughly similar to viewing 1080p? What about pico4/G2 or Varjo Aero?
>>447927421
>feels relative to looking at monitor
no*
>to viewing 1080p display
no*
>what's it like nowadays
hundred times better than first gen. First gen was on the verge of being unusable, current gen headsets are already very decent, you can easily read bigger font, yadda yadda. When I'm working on something in Unity, I rarely take headset off, it's easy to see font in a preview and it's more than usable with display scaled to an equivalent of 70" seen from 1.5m away.
*i guess it somewhat depends on what headset you use. Index is kinda low tier at this point, any higher resolution headset will obviously be vastly superior in terms of image clarity as long as optics can keep up.
>>447915627
impossible to beat high level beat saber maps
>>447927421
I only notice screen door on q2 if I squint and stare directly into a bright, white light.
Y48NTR
Talk me out of preordering Quest 3 tomorrow.
>>447932432
Pico 4 is cheaper and better.
>>447932432
I am also interested in the quest 3, but I also wanna hear some honest reviews about it
>>447927421
the main thing to consider is ppd, lenses, and display
quest2, g2, index, vives etc..are fresnel lenses so everything will seem blurry unless you look at a tiny spot in the middle (sweet spot), they are horrible for reading text and generally an example of the 'old' VR headsets. but you can notice some differences between for example a vive pro 2 and quest 2 because the quest 2 is single display so you lose a ton of pixel density due to how ipd works. the higher resolution you go you also get less screen door effect, but for the most part you wont notice this unless you go to headsets that releases before the index.
for the most part no one would suggest buying a fresnel lens headset in 2023. the main offerings are all going to pancake lenses which are smaller and have a lot more clearness (but not fully edge to edge yet), examples include the pico 4, quest pro, vive XR elite...
quest 2 vs quest pro vs pico 4 are a good comparison because quest 2 has roughly the same resolution as the quest pro but the quest pro has dual displays so the pixel density is way higher. this also means it actually looks more clear than the pico 4 which has a higher resolution because pico 4 has a single screen. pico 4 and quest pro both have pancake lenses so they are both very clear, but quest pro has a patented anti-glare coating on the lenses which make them by far the best lenses out of any headset right now.
for those who care, quest 3 (unreleases) is also single screen so while it has a higher resolution than quest pro it will look worse.
then you have the really niche headsets like the varjo aeros and the pimax crystal which uses aspheric lenses, these are extremely clear but they are physically larger than pancake lenses and can never achieve the same form factor. if you were on the quest for the best looking headset for simulations youd probably end up at these headsets.
fresnelcope is about to die forever vros
I can TASTE it!
I politely decline to refer to all trans women as "she". I will call them he, or not use pronouns, but I am not willing to call them "she", because, in my mind, they are men. I hope you can respect my decision and my bodily autonomy.
>>447933993
that's cool but who asked
>>447933993
Yes but have you played outer wilds?
>>447926745
It's meh. I've had 3070 before. You are not maxing out Q2 even at 72hz with it.
But it's very close to 4070 overall. Not even 20% worse.
3070ti is like within 10% at high res.
And nvidia asks $600 for 4070 in 2023. 3080 was $700 in 2020 and it shits on it. Yeah, they can fuck off.
>>447933296
Pico 4 has 2 screens you dingus
>>447933296
> this also means it actually looks more clear than the pico 4
Stopped reading here. You have tried neither headsets.
Fuck off, pajeet.
>>447934223
no it doesnt, its chink lies. i took one apart and confirmed.
you wont find a single english tear down video that shows dual screens.
>>447933296
>quest2, g2, index, vives etc..are fresnel lenses so everything will seem blurry unless you look at a tiny spot in the middle (sweet spot)
again, sweet spot is not a fresnel-lens specific thing. pancake lenses have sweet spots too.
>>447934440
fucking our own local toilet chan is suffering because chinks put 2 different displays from different manufacturers in his copy
>>447934648
NTA but he has pico 4 pro i think instead of regular pico so maybe that one has 2 screens?
Don't listen to the schizo who shills qpro. The whole post is full of nonsense.
I would say it's pampers, but it's a bit too lucid.
>>447934648
pretty sure its just his eyes being bad. its what he gets for looking at so much porn with only one eye open
>>447934953
It's not just him
I shill it too
viva la pro questo etc.
>>447934771
pico 4 pro just adds cameras around the lenses, everything else is exactly the same
>>447934953
QPro is awfull, no full isolation without buying a special faceplate, all weight is still in the front, bad head strap, bad software, zucciness, AWFULL microphone, worse than fucking OG Vive. I can barely understand people who switched to QPro from index.
>>447935229
full isolation is a meme
I don't wanna go back to tard goggles
the comfort is bad that I will give you
anyone who wants full isolation from a headset is just a nerd. i have so many girls come up and talk to me while gaming that i cant be fully isolated, i need to know whats going on at all times. so for me the quest pro â„¢ is perfect
>>447935380
>I love seeing real world and sun shine into my eyes when I'm playing a game
>>447935407
This anon makes a good point. What if a bunch of sexy naked women (or men, I don't judge) walked in to your room IRL and you didn't notice them because you were too isolated with your light blocking headset so they left.
>>447935779
stop fueling my paranoia
>>447935569
you don't consciously process the stuff in your periphery but you can tell that it changes when you move your head unlike the deep blackness in an isolated headset so it feels like free FoV
I completely understand your reticence as I once scoffed as you did but it won't stop me from calling you a foolish nitwitted RETARD
also I think it helps my balance and playspace awareness
i think these retards never actually used a quest pro. if you tip the headset down so it touches your nose, you get a huge FOV and almost no light bleed with the included side blockers. or you can wear it "up" and horizontally and get a more MR view.
you can wear it these ways because the lenses are so good, so anyway you look at it, it will be clear.
so what data are the chinks harvesting from the pico users? without eye tracking they cant see me fapping right?
>>447936565
anon at the pico factory they print out the grainy black and white video frames of your little meat stick from the tracking cameras and hang them up on the walls to laugh at
sometimes paired with that panda man chink meme laughing
>>447936565
You don't even need a pico account. You can completely block it's access to the internet it'll just work
>>447936895
and..? the 2nd it connects to internet its gonna send your information to some proxy site (likely showing as a non-chinese IP) then to the chinks
>>447937142
Anon you can block it from ANY internet location.
>>447934953
The most unhinged zuck shill is pampers.
>>447937201
whats the point of a standalone headset with no internet connection?
>>447937491
Anon... The wireless only needs to connect to your router, the router can then forward traffic to your PC so you get your headset working, and then block it from going to the internet.
Your router isn't the internet, it just forwards stuff.

>>447939931
So they can show me racist ads that are more relevant to my interests? Sign me the fuck up mang
>>447939986
If only; main problem with this data is it stays around forever and you'll find it was traded around to hundreds of data broker companies and will get eventually exposed to something you care about. Internet schizo willing to spend a little to pay, employers doing background checks on employees, law enforcement deciding that today is the day to auto-enforce their new anti-hate crime law or whatever the fuck
do yall really think the chinks are sharing your data with china? chinks use your data to figure out the best way to influence western society, its how they create tiktok trends and sissy porn to try to feminize white men because they think the can kill the niggers easier if they become the leaders of western society
>>447940460
I'll assume you meant

not vr related, but have u ever thought that it was just profit maximizing instead of whatever other conspiracy you have dreamed up. the motivating factor for 99% of the bad things in the world is greed. they probably just incentivize profitable videos and short video content to peddle as much wares as possible.
i hate people being sinophobic against china when its basically every company all over the world doing the same stuff like with shrinkflation (selling less for more) because people depend on it now.
no it's lizard men from the VR moon

>>447940150
I know, I was joking around. Data collection and data trade is very concerning and should be avoided.
"This one company does it" does not mean it's okay for other companies to also do it, and you would be surprised how little ad companies know about you if you run troll extensions like AdNauseam.

>sinophobic
You're an actual chinese shill aren't you? There's no such thing as "phobic" when your fascist-style government is fighting with other countries, openly trying to get rid of democracy, and declaring it wants to attack Taiwan.
You're trying to babble about insignificant details like shrinkflation to distract from the chinese police state throwing people in jail just to terrorize them into obedience, like all those arrests of tech entrepreneurs.

Haven't done the math on this but a G2's pixel size are like you're kinda close to a 480p monitor. When using desktop I could stretch a 1080p display over the headsets full FOV and it looked like there wasn't much detail lost.
I never thought the resolution wasn't good enough for games. I was really pleased with it and much more disatisfied with FOV and black levels. It's not good enough for desktop though.

because the bsb is literally a 3d printed case held together by hot-glue...has no audio, no eye/face tracking, no passthrough, etc etc. and costs the same as qpro which is actually designed by people who understand design and engineering
>>447959231
Can't wait to show off my $1000 knife in CSVR and laugh at all the poorfags

>>447969141
everything works with 1.0 gen lighthouses.
1.0 devices (og vive, og vive wands, and og vive tracker) don't work with 2.0 lighthouses.
you can have 1 or 2 1.0 lighthouses, you cannot mix and match 1.0 and 2.0 lighthouses.
In most situations 2 1.0 gen lighthouses works perfectly. I still have mine since 2017 and use them with index controllers and Pro 2.
>and costs the same as qpro which is actually designed by people who understand design and engineering

>>447969238
Fuck. If the Deckard is inside out and invalidates my lighthouses it's a hard pass from me. Hopefully this is just a continuation of their partnership with HTC.
>>447969619
no, the superior solution is to have both outside-in and inside-out tracking, like the qpro controllers.
the qpro is the pinnacle of design and engineering
>>447969619
>>447969727
If controllers are also self tracked then it's fine, I will miss playing in the dark after lighthouse is retired.
Also I don't think HTC will stop producing lighthouses any soon, they are heavily invested in business and Vive Mars video production solution, which uses trackers to track cameras and objects.
when HTC released the vive focus 3 they made their own branch of open space calibrator so people could use basestations while using the focus 3.
they know the demand is there for a solution that does both.
Have any details on the deckard been officially announced?
Has the headset even been announced to exist?

>>447971305
we dont need just a new game, we need a game like CSGO or DOTA that can get people playing for a long time to come. half life alyx is great and all but an 8 hour campaign is not going to keep people with VR.
is quest 3 better than quest pro or pico 4 pro? idk what headset to get to upgrade from index
>>447971973
VRchat is already that 'game', unfortunately. Actual VR games are inherently too high effort to have CS or DOTA appeal.
>>447959231
I kinda hope it's not CS2VR. We already have outlets for multiplayer PvP shooters. Pavlov already does most of the CS formula and I can't imagine Valve doing anything but simplifying much of the fun out of it to make it accessible and competitive.
Would there even be much of a playerbase for the matchmaking? PCVR is in decline and I don't see them throwing flat and VR together outside of maybe custom modes. Stuff like surf and zombie escape would be fun whether it's mixed or not.
I'm not convinced that the matchmaking-based hypersweaty pixel perfect precision of CSGO is going to be the long term draw that PCVR needs.
VR wont be maintsream until
1. headsets have an easy way to charge and non of this ambiguity like the q2 has where you need specific motherboards or power injectors to charge off a PC while playing
2. controllers dont require you to grip them at all time
3. full passthrough or clear displays so that people can see whats around them quickly. isolation is the leading cause of people not wanting to use headsets around their family/friends.
4. not dumb looking (IE, no BSB or pimax styled headsets)
5. more 6DOF only games that can be played with MKB and a headset
6. full body options that dont require jank setups
7. weigh less than 500grams

Apparently you'll get Asgard's Wrath 2 for free when you buy a Q3 and I don't know how accurate this is, but the guy says the FOV is 110.
>>447972640
if youre playing standalone the q3 or pico 5 is your best option, if youre playing PCVR the qpro or pico 5 is your best option.
the q3 is single screen LCD so it will look far worse than the qpro, but the pico 5 should look better than both based on specs
>>447972676
While I agree that even if they actually made CS2VR it probably wouldn't be worth playing, the small chance that it actually works out is alluring.

>6. full body options that dont require jank setups

>7. weigh less than 500grams
500-ish grams is ok, its all about weight balance - quest 3 will be more comfortable than quest 2 just because its smaller despite having the same weight

I hope it is. Pavlov is shit and dave is a retard. If CSVR brings even .1% of CSs player base that's 18000 players.
>>447974331
for point 1, unless you have a "gaming" motherboard and a good usb c to usb c cable, most standalone headsets cant be charged at all while playing pcvr. i think the vive XRE is one of the few that can be. the others need power injectors of some sort

>>447974501
I seriously doubt that 18k weekly will happen after the launch period. I don't have recent data but that might even exceed VRChat for regular PCVR users if their old 30% number is still remotely relevant.
Half Life Alyx managed to hit 42k in the first week and still had over 1k for the next year which is pretty good for a 8 hour game that only Index users got for free.
If CS2VR is free for everyone it could match that number. How many stick around is another question but PCVR is doing so poorly that even if 1/10 keep playing weekly that's more than any other non-vrchat game.

All the AI detection they have would be completely useless, they would need to start from scratch.
But back to the main topic, unless there is a competitive matchmaking the game is just run and gun. And that's braindead too.
I doubt it would have enough players for competitive matchmaking in the first place. It would have to be the most successful multiplayer VR game of all time by far.

>>447978608
I've played competitive in csgo when it first released. It wasn't a very popular game back then.
The most likely first step into CSVR would simply be the ability to play with mouse and keyboard on a headset. It renders properly in 3D without visual errors, the HUD is suitable for VR, but there's no hand or head tracking. I'd probably try that.
>>447978867
>I like playing with and against the same people.
You would be playing against the same people if they were to release competitive matchmaking.

I'd really like face tracking to be commonplace soon, since seeing people's avatars match their IRL expression adds so much more to the social aspect of VR
I appreciate it when someone puts in the effort to change their expression for my benefit, so I try and do the same for everyone else - with face tracking I won't have to though!

It's a simple expansion of what VR can be used for, not to replace VRFPS. It would be a step forward if a major developer were to implement a VR mode that is nothing more than using the headset instead of a monitor and may encourage others to follow. It's something developers may be willing to do that isn't anywhere near as much of an investment or risk as full 6 dof games, instead of VR being something they basically don't want to touch at all.

That tryharding always boils down to braindead run-and-gun, because

Install a git client, initialize a git repo in a folder, put your Unity project into it
Hit commit. Optionally, push it to a private repository online if you want an online backup literally for free. I think Github private repos are free and so is Gitlab.
Then commit (and push) your changes every so often, such as when you close the project for the day. That way you can literally just go back to a previous commit if you mess something up, revert the files in case something gets corrupted, and so on.

2 new bigmeme text reviews for those that hate filthy 30 minute jewtube videos like me:
https://www.roadtovr.com/bigscreen-beyond-review-pc-vr-headset/
https://www.uploadvr.com/bigscreen-beyond-hardware-review/
I now personally have ~20 hours total on it too, here are some new opinions:
- comfort is massively improved with earbuds over headphones. i got the same chink ones and usbc dac the other anon linked. The impedance is super low so max volume is at like 10 in windows audio, but otherwise sounds fine. I need better foam tips to keep them in my ears though.
- fixing the top strap in place with an extra velcro cable tie helped too.
- the glare is still bad, but I've almost completely mentally filtered it out. it just feels like part of VR now. Thinking back to the first days on the index as well, it was also quite noticeable. kind of shocking how much bullshit your mind will let you put up with. FWIW i've never used a quest 2 though or other headsets with "good" antiglare, only index, reverb g2, og rift, and original quest a bit.
- the lightness of the headset is great, but the fit is still bad. both the strap is kind of uncomfortable as it sits on top of my ears, and the gasket doesn't quite fit right. Still dunno if the scan's fault or what, but I'll have to contact support and see if they'll send me a new scan I think. or I'll mold my own gasket.
- resolution is still great otherwise, in the tiny tiny 1 millimeter sweet spot where everything is clear. can read text on my 4k monitor just fine. It's not edge to edge clarity, but enough that you can read columns of text without moving your head.
- if you suspend/sleep your computer, the bigscreen gets into some bad state where it won't detect basestations until you physically disconnect the cable. annoying, but hopefully fixable in firmware.
- I still like the overall package enough that I haven't switched back to index yet, unlike the reverb g2 where I switched back after a few hours.

I think pretending to be an anime girl in VR is just escapism and not healthy. Please stop watching hentai and start a family.

Trying to upload an avatar and it keeps failing. Doesn't even give me a reason. Anyone have a guess at why?
It's a new project. Quest avatar so no external shaders. Only imported the avatar. SDK is up to date. Build target is windows.
Had this issue with another avatar in a different project but unpacking the prefab fixed it, however it didn't work this time.

Yes. It beats out the Quest and PSVR ports easily. It looks really cool with the HD mod textures, and I like how pretty Hell is. Flat shading takes out a lot of the hard work; when flat shaded all you need is the textures to match. Generally for a neck seam, they're hidden most of the time so you don't need to do much more than just get the textures matching.

Racing Wheel or FBT for Christmas?
t. economically challenged
>>448057435
FBT you'll use every day and try new exciting stuff.
With a wheel you'll use it once in a week and try new exciting stuff but pure.
Play assetto and dirt rally 2
>>448057435
are you interested in racing games? how much time do you spend on vrchat?
>>448057435
This is a question only you can answer. If you're into driving quite a lot, the wheel is what you want. Even if not super into driving, you can get a couple hundred hours in dirt rally 2/assetto/ and now beamNG without getting bored.
However, while trackers are basically only for VRC, they add a level of immersion that makes the experience a lot more pleasant; and if you bcome a vrc tranny you'll get thousands of hours out of them.
So up to you.
>>448057435
If you're into cars, you'll be happier with a wheel. There's so much vidya to try out on a wheel, so much different kinds of driving, so many games. If you're only moderately into cars, not sure, racing is fun but so is being a cute anime girl on the internet.
I'd say, get a wheel, see how you like it, and if you won't sink into it, sell it and buy FBT. Wheel is a gateway to thousands of hours of fun, but only if you're the right kind of person for that. Wheels are also holding value on used market really well for some reason, so in bad case scenario, not much of value shall be lost.

I've never really given too much thought about racing because all the games I've ever played was gran turismo on ps1 and 2, but then I tried flight simulators on a whim with a gamepad and I loved it enough I got a cheap flight stick + throttle so I think I'd enjoy driving if I've got the right gear.
I only play VRC to join lobbies posted here and chat a bit because the social aspect is really nice but I'm not seeing myself being a full blown goblin.
I'm thinking of building SlimeVR since it seems like sourcing the components should amount to about 100$ minus the soldering tools which I can borrow from work while a wheel is around 300 from what I've heard.
>>448058445
Oh yeah if you're not lighthouse or you're on a budget, a set of like 7 self built slimes is way more cost effective.
>>448057834
It's a meme, I don't think even Valve knows when deckard is coming.
>>448058276
It should help since it has a higher decode throughput on the die which is the current limitation. Latency should be about the same, wifi 6 should improve reliability a lot.
But is that worth 500 vs the 300 for the q2? If you don't have one I'd say so since you're also getting a much comfier headset, higher res, and metas VERY good lenses.

Game feels far better with FBT, you can also do all kinds of cool dorky stuff with FBT on. Screwing around with avatars to FBT-adjust them is also a nice little task that feels very rewarding. One thing's guaranteed, you won't regret FBT, it's not 'goblin', it's just an upgrade all around.
>then I tried flight simulators on a whim with a gamepad and I loved it enough I got a cheap flight stick + throttle so I think I'd enjoy driving if I've got the right gear.
Yep, I think you sound autistic enough to enjoy vidya driving. Side by side racing is another topic, it may or may not require specific personality to get into it hard, but even if that won't be your thing, hotlapping tracks for best time is still a very enjoyable experience. Give DR2 a shot once you'll get a wheel, league around with everyone, it's some properly decent game.
>>448056668
>We will never get a game like that in VR.
We did in HL Alyx. And even something like Lone Echo 1+2 can grab my attention even in a crowded flat game market. You don't actually need a 100 hour long RPG in VR, you just need an AAA game that's done well, even if it's short

And, just to clarify, this isn't the only thing you can do in racing sims without having a competitive streak. There are various "casual servers" in assetto, all kinds of RP-esque touge drives, highway racing, drifting servers, more than enough content to satisfy anyone with any love for cars.

The base stations are expensive and they make the controllers expensive. Normally I wouldn't care that good hardware is expensive but there's two issues. First the budget used on lighthouse can't be used on the rest of the headset, and every part of VR needs improving. And If you have a strong evidence that lighthouse crushes quest 2 tracking performance I'd like to see it.
Also computer vison just keeps getting better and better so whatever gap is left shrinks. And cameras can do things like hand and body tracking with no hardware. I'd rather they spend the budget on future proofing everything else about the headset than put out something that's potentially a relic right now.
