Open up Blender, buy or steal some assets from Booth, rip some assets from games, it's time to get world building. you have 3 months and the theme is winter, anything even vaguely winter themed is fine.
All skill levels are welcome. If you want to build everything from scratch, that's great, but if you want to use booth prefabs and just learn the basics, then that's okay too. There will be a hub world with portals so anyone can visit the worlds at any time but for the event itself the host will have pre-favourited the worlds so they can drop friends+ portals

Airlink can run as well as Virtual Desktop, but VD is just so much more convenient and polished.
H264 has the lowest latency, so is often preferred depending on what you're playing. H264+ for even more bitrate.
Defaults will probably do you solid. Play with increasing bitrate and maybe disabling video buffering once you've confirmed defaults work ok.

The first half of the campaign is a glorified tutorial so I didn't finish it. At least 3-4 hours I think.
The Co-op is where the meat is. 50 missions spread across several locations so in one mission you might turn left at the market while in another you go right. Each one is usually 6-10 minutes of action if you don't die.
There's variety to the mission types with some that are purely defensive while others have you fight through the level. Ones made for thermal scopes, for snipers, taking out a vehicle with RPGs or being swarmed with drones etc. Unlike the campaign, in co-op you get money from missions based on your score which you can spend on weapons, attachments and perks.
The default arcade mode is painfully bullet spongey, like playing The Division with shitty gear. Realism mode is much better but some later levels are very challenging and you can die instantly from small mistakes.
Graphics are decent and the soundtrack has a cheesey Dynasty Warriors feel that matches the short but hectic levels.
People kicked up a big fuss about the assisted reloading but it's not very noticable when you're actually playing, nowhere near as bad as button press. The devs have fixed most of the other issues and I'm skeptical that they'll do the same for reloads but there's talk about it.

It's not a bad game but it had an awful launch that still sours the Steam reviews. Worth looking into if you want a 2 player co-op VRFPS.

The complaints of it having a repetitive gameplay loop probably come from the way the game tries to distract you with notifications and switching quests on you. You really need to focus and avoid chasing the shiny objects the game keeps baiting you with.

im loving starfield so far. I don't mind any of the menu grievances one bit. It's my first Bethesda game since playing Skyrim for the first time on launch in 2011 and the 2nd Bethesda game I've ever touched and experienced, and it helps I never played NMS either so I have nothing to compare it to. I finally replaced the stupid drifting joystick on my left index controller. no more drift even at 0% deadzone which is cool. Followed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDngL_xFFyQ which is nicer than the 2020 russian video that I followed last time.

in terms of home electronics repair difficulty though, this was an ordeal with several nightmare difficulty dexterity checks. Took me the last 3 hours, though most of which was self-inflicted pain of shitty tools trying to desolder the old joystick while fighting a really flimsy helping hands jig thing. I wish i had the eutectic solder stuff the guy in the video had, but instead I only had a solder sucker, really thin braid, and 60/40 which i mixed into the factory lead-free stuff. the solder sucker sucked. couldn't reliably keep the solder melted to pull it away. so instead I fought with the desoldering braid, finally pulling enough solder away I could kind of see the pins. then again fighting the helping hands jig while trying to pry the old joystick while also pressing the iron into all the joints. very painful and whatever autistic sunk cost rage prevented me from finding a better jig or vice. I eventually broke the old joystick into little pieces trying to pull parts of it off, which meant another hour trying to pull the broken leads out of the holes. once I finally got everything clean, lost 20 minutes because I was trying to put the joystick in the wrong side and the leads didn't quite line up. but then finally got it in. and another 20 minutes wrestling with with reassembly trying to get the ribbon cable on the bottom of the controller reconnected with zero slack.

well at least I finally did it. if you are actually good at desoldering/have a proper setup/have another human to hold and pry things, it'd be a lot easier.

dark scenes look amazing again; no mura smear

you'll need you're own audio solution though; so far im most satisfied by simple usb-c -> 2x 3.5mm splitter with some earbuds I had from quest 1 since the cable management is much less of an issue with that setup
my experience is with the wrong ipd (65mm) though so I should be able to see how the 67mm unit does sometime this week... and also have a fixed strap cable clip and hopefully no dead pixel :)

I got my stuff migrated yesterday, personal home world looks a bit off but the lighting seems overall better. The new default home is pretty good though which is made out of the new snap building prefabs + tool, and is designed around using that as well.

Apparently if you are streaming the game to a Quest there is lag with the melee. I've been playing the game with a Bigscreen and haven't noticed any lag with melee so far. The game is easy enough to beat by just shooting things on hard+warrior mode anyways, I'll see if that changes after I unlock evil difficulty.

Seeing this side of VRChat is absolutely wild to me, it isn't even a TDA base at this point, people are making new models specifically for this "look". Big eyes (but not really anime shape), overly shaded (but not realistic), realistic nose/lip texturing despite the face obviously being cartoonish. Very odd proportions and shiny bullshit everywhere. It's so incredibly uncanny, like actually looking at a cryptid, I don't see how anybody could look at this and say it's aesthestic. Can somebody explain the appeal?
