CVR is pretty close to how VRC was in 2018. It's a basic VR program with integrated worlds and avatars that are both made in Unity.
Except CVR has something similar to Avatars 3.0 and also has props. The main thing that makes it less feature-complete than VRC is a lack of world scripting as of yet, but that might come in the future.
Still, if VRChat totally dies I wouldn't mind giving up le precious pool table and just moving to CVR.

I'm not even talking features. Basic stuff like the UI/UX and IK are worse than any version of VRC I've ever used. Audio quality was unacceptably bad for a while there too, although I remember it being a little better last time I tried it.
Performance was the only thing I felt like it actually did well, but I've also never been in a CVR instance with anything near what we see in a weekend VRC meetup.

They finally fixed the voice issues very recently (thank god, that was driving me up the wall). It no longer does that weird warble or pitch shifting and it no longer has a ridiculously low voice falloff.
The IK is better than what VRChat used to be in 2018-2019, and that's no surprise considering it was pretty bad back then. Remember all the weird armature rig hacks we had to do in 2017-2020 to make fullbody behave? The "neck fix", the inverted hips FBT fix, and even then the viewpoint was always desynced from the head. I would say CVR is somewhere in-between 2018 VRChat and 2023 VRChat in terms of IK quality.
Regardless, there's mods available that make the IK better (including literally IKTweaks), and I'm pretty sure they hired at least one of the guys who was responsible for making IKTweaks as great as it was.

I don't know if it's worth making the switch right now, but be prepared to move over when VRChat's bullshit reaches critical mass. There will be some things that VRC simply does better, but you'll get used to it and you'll probably have fun playing with CVR's own features like mod support and props.
How we let the VRC situation get so far already (quest kids, monetization, toxmod looming over the horizon, EAC) without there being a viable alternative is a travesty but we'll make it, no matter the platform. But if you wait for a competing platform to have full feature parity and literally no downsides compared to VRC, you'll just be waiting forever.

That's kinda the point, the Quest 3 can advertise better FoV for 2 reasons:
1. The adjustable facial interface lets you get closer to the lenses, without having to buy a third-party "thin" facial interface.
2. There is less stereo overlap between the left and right eyes, the same reason the Vive Pro 2 is so terrible despite technically having a very high combined-hFoV.

The Quest2 has a total rendered hFoV of 104 degrees, with an overlap of 90 degrees.
The Quest3 has a total rendered hFoV of 108 degrees, with an overlap of 80 degrees.
Given the same overlap as the Quest2, the Quest3 would have a rendered FoV of only 103 degrees; less than the Quest 2. Numbers all assume 64mm IPD.

For this reason, talking in terms of per-eye FoV makes more sense:
Quest2: 97 degrees
Quest3: 94 degrees - 3 degrees less.

These numbers are all rendered FoV, meaning the max you can theoretically get.
With the Quest3 the adjustable facial interface makes it very easy to get close to the lenses, so you'll hit that theoretical max and see the edges of the display very easily.
With the Quest 1/2 you may need a third part "thin" facial interface, but my neanderthal ass can spot the edges even using the stock facial interface, with the headset admittedly clamped firmly to my face.

It's a fully competent wheel, it has force feedback and everything you need to get started. If that sounds any good to you, sure, just keep in mind you're going for the lowest option. It's not nearly as good as other options, it's lowest-end possible without going down into ffb-less toy wheels, but it's a wheel regardless and it allows you to do wheel things just like any other 'real' wheel. You can later upgrade to t3pa pedals (50eur used) because 2pedal plastic boards always feel like you're just stepping directly on potentiometers with no resistance.

To my best knowledge, G29 has exactly same gear-based FFB as G27, except for hall sensor instead of a slotty disc for rotation measurement. I've never used g29 so I won't know for sure, but if you've got to use both G29 and, say, T300, didn't you notice that G29 tends to crank FFB strength down to near zero when you're holding the wheel in one single position unless a very strong signal goes in (say, crash, or riding over a tall curb)? Was definitely the case in G27, very noticeable on straights where you get next to no feedback on subtle, low-strength signals.

I’ve been saying that’s my primary reason for preferring tarkov for a while now. Tabor I think will get to be a great game, but the devs need to prioritize a bit better. Air drops for loot no one actually needs other than making dollar sign go up, bad. Weight system and more in depth healing, good. When I first started playing VR, the first and only "game" that ever got me queasy was the first time I tried Aircar (or whatever it was called) and that was only because I started doing a bunch of retarded rolls and spins and shit out of boredom. I have the thinnest vrcover pad with an ipd of 63.5mm for my quest 2, and after testing the highest FOV I could see was 99~ degrees. Mind you, I can literally see the borders of the screens on both sides, so I'm pretty sure it's most you can physically get. If it is rendering 104 degrees, then 5 degrees of the screen is missing.

Quest2 numbers probably don't cover how the image gets cut off as the IPD increases, since both eyes share a single LCD, unlike the Quest 1.
On the Quest1 you can get 104 regardless of IPD, but on the Quest2 you'll only get it at an IPD 58, with more and more of the image getting cut off as you increase it.

the paid version (virtual desktop) has a few more options and settings than the default occulus stuff that comes with the headset.

I have the 2.0s and ordered magnetic charging cables for my new 3.0s but the USB port of all vive trackers are in a little inset which makes it impossible to fit in the port of some form factors of magnetic cables, so I don't know which ones to buy.

I have the option of Quest 2 or Pico 4 at virtually the same price. Or double the price for Quest 3. Probably not much use as a standalone, gonna use as PCVR. 3060Ti, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.
Been reading some reviews and doing some research. At first Pico 4 seemed the obvious choice at the price point, but now I'm not so sure. I have a small IPD (60-61) and a large-ish nose, which apparently can cause some issues.
Quest 3 price is kinda salty for me but if the quality is a lot better than Quest 2 or Pico 4 I might get it.

Q2 is not a good choice again P4 even with your ipd. Pico can go down to 58 ipd but it isn't recommended because of how close each lense would be to each other, Q2 have software IPD adjustment so it won't be as good as poorly fitting P4 due to pancake lenses having a huge sweetspot anyway

is this a windows thing? 6700xt works fine on my machine. i just had to configure systemd to set full power mode in the driver on boot because amd's driver doesn't seem to do automatic power management properly. maybe that's where tech illiterate people are having problems, not sure if their windows driver has the same issue

6950xt, win7 drivers didn't work right for steamVR, couldn't go into exclusive mode, it would get stuck in clone display mode instead of extend mode and then VR wouldn't work at all, even DDU wouldn't get it out of clone mode, it needed OS reinstalled to unjam the setting.
installed win10, drivers were fine. it made me mad as hell that i had to migrate but i can understand why ATI wouldn't bother fixing the bug.

Question. Are there any gun sims/games that have good holstering mechanics? I know there's a limit with the controllers VR headsets currently have but I'm looking to get a good western sorta unholster cock and fire SAA kinda thing. I've tried H3 and it's okay but it's holstering is basically just the gun being glued to your body.
