I'd never recommend it to anyone, but I think i'm somehow having fun. Fight physics are trash, spears are the only weapon that feel somewhat alright, but difficulty is nicely balanced and you actually have to watch out a bit. Or at least such is my take on it after 30min of playing the game, maybe there's lots of obvious gameplay cheese I didn't figure out yet.

it supports VRM format, same as Primitier and whatnot. Then again, file load was trash and I couldn't see my avatar as an selectable option in game after putting it into folder, so in the end I've selected one of predefined avatars, then swapped the file for mine under same name as ingame's original avatar, and then game loaded my avatar without problems.

What could be the reason behind my FX layer not working? The parameter menu shows up but when I click on anything (expressions and toggles) nothing happens.
I've put the fx controller in the animator section already so it's not that. Visemes and other playable layers work perfectly as well.

It shouldn't be enemy focused desu, multiple people make it way harder. Better to do something like more people just makes encounters faster rather than easier. Or that stealth works a lot better so multiple people moving around is less of an advantage than you think.

I don't see how it would unless you mean having to share the loot. 3 people to watch your back will make the enemies and locations far less scary.
Since it's being made with co-op in mind I assume the devs will find some way to keep some tension to the exploration during co-op. I'd love to see weird anomalies or enemies that effect each player differently.

I think I figured out what makes this game fun despite everything. It's a loop of challenge and reward, you're playing through janky yet somewhat balanced gameplay in order to see what kind of trouble is cleric going to be in this time. Each difficulty level seems to feature a different type of torture device, and it's always more or less interactive.

Such a trash game, i love it. Plus gameplay gets somewhat better once difficulty goes up, weapons get more powerful and you can finally kill a goblin in one good hit instead of stabbing the poor guy over ten times

wrong, there is no such thing in the game. the only recent change is that they are trying to force people to add content tags to their avatars, which isnt used by any filter it just auto-deletes your avatar if you upload it as NSFW.

I am looking for hosts for all timezones for a saturday in late december, currently leaning towards the 29th. just DM or email me with your timezone and VRChat username
We currently have one volunteer for NA but backup hosts is never a bad idea in case plans change.
The hosts can either go to the hub world and take everyone through the portals there which will be public portals (because as far as I know you can't put friends+portals in worlds) or I will send them a list of the worlds for them to favourite and drop friends+ portals to.

You're running out of time if you want to make a world. Try and get your worlds submitted a week before the 29th, and preferably submitted to labs to make it easier for hosts to drop portals to them
The theme is winter, anything even vaguely winter related is fine and all skill levels are welcome. You can submit your world by sending your world ID to vrbuild123@gmail.com, vrbuild on Discord or post it in the thread

Welcome back racer!
EU Assetto Corsa: European Racing club, season 9!
Race 62.

19:00 UTC 20:00 CET, Monday 11th of December.

Grip day 2.0, but now with fully manual gearboxes. We're taking Formula One cars of 1970ties into Finland, to drive on extremely complicated track. There is enough grip and speed to kill yourself. Expect blind corners, it's gonna be a survival race, perfect for the last race of season 9.

1 hour practice
12 minutes qualifiers
11 lap race

Afterwards we'll take a drive in Hungary, on a Transfagarasan pass, to get some scenic views. Cars with no roof only!

Assetto - can be played with wheel, controller, or steam-vr-wheel addon, it doesn't matter, we will all have fun driving together. If you just bought Asseto - grab Assetto Corsa Content Manager - a better launcher and mod manager: https://assettocorsa.club/content-manager.html To install mods: just drag and drop zip files from mega onto the Content Manager windows and click on the hamburger menu on top right. Highly recommend installing stable custom shader patch and 7-zip plugin in Content manager.

For communication we'll use mumble at voice.vrg.party port 64738, as it doesn't need any registrations or logins.

What they have implemented so far is based on a birthday that you supposedly entered when making your vrchat account. If you're under 18 based on that then all of that content now gets filtered. It's not an opt-in sort of thing but that could be an idea to submit to the canny.

>worse
Worse how? Range? Receivers are usually sitting 2m away from the player. The popularity of 2.4ghz comes mostly from how absolutely dirt cheap 2.4ghz radio modules were even 15 years ago.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I really fail to see any reason why 5ghz would be an inferior option. Hell, I can only see reasons why it would be better, 5ghz band is less cluttered, 5ghz frequency is less susceptible to water absorption (and that's pretty great when your tracker sits on a piece of meat that's 70% water)

Finished playing The 7th Guest VR
£20 (on sale) and 4.5 hours to complete so not so good value for money imo
looks decent and runs good, the FMV "volumetric video" is cool, performances were great
VR interaction works well enough
puzzles were generally creative and fun but pretty easy, breezed though the game with no hints (10% of players completed the game with no hints)
puzzles are only contained to one room each, there is no overarching puzzle or interconnectedness, just go into a room, do the puzzle, go to the next room
last "puzzle" absolutely shit the bed, typical throw everything out and change the game completely for the last boss problem

Talk to someone like they're offline but don't care about you saying the funny gamer words. It also helps to have something to talk about as a common experience, so showing up to game lobbies and then parlaying them into VRC friends instead of walking into a massive room of people who you don't know and already have established friend circles they're engaged with helps.

the quest version basically blocks everything and in order to have a 'quest compatible' avatar (aka, a quest person can see your avatar) you have to super downgrade it. most people dont want to do that so they just dont make one, so you cant see them.

same with worlds, the good worlds are all PCVR only.

VTOL VR is 30% off. It's a fantastic sim-lite air combat game that only requires your headset and controllers- no HOTAS needed. The mechanics are very easy to get into, although having a rough idea of what weapons fighter jets use and how they work can help. There's a lively PVE and PVP multiplayer scene, and since Nothing Else Comes Close I doubt it'll ever die out. There's DLC for an attack helicopter and training aircraft that have multicrew, as well.

I've stopped hosting recently but an update revamping radar mechanics and air defense is coming soon alongside a new Electronic Warfare plane. Once this releases, I'll start hosting weekly again.

Bought Mare, Table of Tales and Rez Infinite. Everyone should buy Rez Infinite, it's only 7 bucks now, the main game kinda sucks in VR but the main appeal here is in the Area X mode. It will be the best 20 minutes of your life, it's awesome and you can only get how awesome it is if you play it in VR. If you've played Tetris Effect in VR, this is like 10x cooler in terms of trippy visuals. The main game is a flat classic too so even though it kinda sucks in VR in flat it's fun

No multiplayer, far as I see.

I'm exactly between "do" and "don't" in terms of shilling. Seriously, it's a trash game, and I'd be embarrassed to properly shill it to anyone. But I can't lie: subjectively, i'm having fun, it's a fact that I cannot deny. It's an absolute nip kusoge and it doesn't hold a candle to something like B&S gameplay-mechanics-wise, game storyline is not too far away from b&s 'storyline' except for a literal big tiddy anime girl bully bait tied up at the end of every dungeon. But it's just weird kinds of fun, and it's the first time for me to see VR melee that's anywhere around 'gameplay balanced', so I just can't help but enjoy it.

Then again, no multiplayer. Probably worth ignoring if you were looking forward to that particular bit.

I'd like to get into VR but I don't understand one thing. Why do the headsets come with internal memory? All the headsets recommended in the guide are very expensive most likely due to being it's own computer-thing? But the same guide also states it needs a PC. Are the headsets just needlessly filled with useless components to inflate prices and weight when they're only supposed to be two small screens + gyro at most? Since the game runs on the PC and the headset is just a inout device.
Anonymous No.456697495 Replies: >>456698052

Some headsets are standalone (quest 2, 3, pico 4), some connect to PC and one connects to PS5. The standalone ones can still connect to PC as well.
>but why would I buy a standalone for PC gaming
Because they happen to have the best wireless functionality, most popular PCVR headsets are still wired. There haven't been a major PCVR headset in a while now, Beyond doesn't count it's too gimmicky
Anonymous No.456697498

Standalone headsets have internal memory since they're basically consoles. You can use them as PCVR headsets, but that's not what they were primarily designed for.
Index, Beyond, and Vive Pro 2 are all PC native headsets with no additional hardware inside. They also happen to cost more than just buying a Quest or Pico.

It's more than screens and gyros. There's positional tracking too. Inside out tracking (quest) has cameras mounted on the headset to work out the position of the headset relative to the room and outside in tracking (lighthouse tracking so vive, index etc) have sensors on the headset that track the position of the IR light lighthouses around your room. It does this so you can have 6 degrees of freedom tracking. That means you can lean, crouch, jump, or walk around your room and also move your character that way. Without it your vr headset will just be like moving your mouse in a flat game and only control rotation. See pic related for the comparison.
The internal memory of the quest is for its standalone functions. The quest saves games to the headset and plays without a computer. PCVR headsets run directly off your computer. You can still hook up your quest to your pc and use it that way with some additional software and fucking about.

G29 has rather ancient FFB system. It's not a bad wheel, and being an anti-gearfag I'll recommend it, but if you can get t300 and you care about noise levels, you might want to go for that. Then again, G29 is an appealing package: pedals are properly decent, and it has dirt cheap h-shifter.

Nothing within the price range you're aiming for is a bad choice, but in all honesty, if given an opportunity to go for g29 or t300/xbawks equivalent, I'd probably choose t300 between two. However, that doesn't mean g29 is a bad choice at all, you'll surely enjoy some proper racing on either of two.

T300 FFB is definitely going to feel a bit better, but I think any wheel with decent FFB will help with the stuff that carries over to IRL driving.
I don't personally think racing sims are going to help much with the kind of stuff you'd learn in a driving school or need for street driving though.

Maybe if you play something designed for that like City Car Driving. learning traffic rules and maintaining good awareness are the important parts of learning to drive.
Managing the biting point in a manual car could be a challenge at first but most games can't give the feedback necessary for that to feel anywhere near realistic enough and if you're an autofag it's irrelevant.

Has anyone else used the Bigscreen Beyond VR headset? I just got mine a few days ago.

So far the weight and the comfort are great for the headset itself, but the soft strap they sent me since the deluxe audio strap I ordered is not in production yet sucks. I'm constantly trying to keep it tight enough so that the headset stays in the right place and the cable clip in the back sucks. The cable constantly wants to come off the clip and has to be kept perfectly taught to avoid it just bumping against my left ear constantly. I ended up using a Velcro strap that came with the display cable to attach the cable to the top strap on the headband instead.

Through the lenses the picture is good but the sweet spot is super small. The colors look weird and the picture is super blurry if you look even slightly outside the sweet spot in the center of the display. For me the fuzzy edge on the bottom of my vision is super distracting especially when using this headset with a cable manager system above my head causes the headset to get pulled around and it will jerk the sweet spot away from my face when I move. The Beyond really needs to be wireless with the tradeoffs it has made to be small and form fitting, as it is now it's super uncomfortable to use with a cable manager.

The Beyond has ended up being a huge disappointment. None of the drawbacks I have noticed where ever mentioned in Shillseeker's multiple videos on the Beyond. I was fine with the limitations he mentioned in his videos, but not the ones I have found after using the Beyond.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed.

The sweetspot is super small, like a pinpoint. You try and look to the side by just moving your eyes and everything goes blurry. You have to move your head constantly with the small FOV for any clarity. Any small movement just jerks the headset out of place if you use a cable manager, which most serious PC VR players use for better freedom of movement. I try to turn my body physically and my headset gets moved out of place. The blurry edges on the bottom are constantly present and super distracting. I'm playing Contractors VR worse than ever compared to my old Vive Pro 1.

Tthe big mods that made VR decent in the last year or two would be FRIK for full body IK and other tweaks, Kabuto VR for proper power armor view, and Virtual Holsters and Virtual Chems so you can holster weapons on your body and pull chems out of pouches to huff or inject them help. I've been enjoying more recent optimizations like VR Upscaler which kills the game's blur well and the VR port of Disk Cache enabler.

It still doesn't have manual reloading tragically, but the combat is still probably the best in the Fallout Series. I like that you can properly two hand weapons to manage recoil, aim down the sights, and physically hurl grenades and mines. The standard pip boy settings don't freeze time, so you have to git gud at stabbing yourself in the arm like Alyx to heal, using your holsters to switch weapons, or spend AP in VATS to do that similar to Fallout 1 and 2.

Some bigger content mods like America Rising 2 and Sim Settlements 2 Chapter 3 have come out in the past couple months and work well in VR. There is a patch to integrate both of them too.

Tether is a huge problem. The new Steam VR link looks like it works with the eye tracking on the Quest Pro. Thing is with the progress the Nofio has made the Beyond could have launched with a wireless mode if they had worked together from the start. The tether is such a huge burden on a light headset with a soft strap that holds it on your face.

>>456719614
Exactly. Terrible blur outside a super small sweet spot. The flaws it ends up having are not the ones Shillseeker disclosed.

>>456719130
Probably a smart move. It feels like the problems I'm having with the head strap alone could have been easily fixed before it was shipped out. The early version Shillseeker helped them demo must have been much worse.

Of course I'm titled, I spent $1,300 on this shit and it's not even remotely what was advertised. Finding a new model iphone was a fucking nightmare because I live in the rural US. I ended up getting lucky that someone at Men's Warehouse I was talking to had just got one, otherwise I would have been stuck driving to an even farther away city from my small town to find an apple store that had one not trapped in demo mode like the ones at my local Verizon store.

I paid extra for the deluxe audio strap which still hasn't even been manufactured yet, hopefully this will solve the problem. Having a ridged headband like on the Vive Pro would make things better.

>>456720928
The tiny sweet spot is such a massive drawback it effectively ruins the headset. This design might work if it launched with wireless support and a hot swappable battery. The cable loves to jerk the headset away from the sweetspot, effectively forcing me to stand perfectly still for things to look normal.

There are none. VR porn is the only growing market for that viewing experience.

There's like 5 dollar documentaries on various vr stores but, from the ones I've watched none of them were worth any money at all.

a wheel definitely translates into irl driving if you know how to set it up

go to a parking lot and drive a car with supervision, then buy a wheel and try to get the same feeling, and then play euro truck sim or city car driving for a while, if you have VR it will definitely translate, it will build your muscle memory so when you go back to a real car you focus on the traffic and so on instead of actually controlling the car

and with more time a wheel also helps you understand how a car behaves and how to correct oversteer or understeer without thinking

I kind of got used to the headset over time, but mostly by ratcheting it on to keep it tight. I don't use a pulley. I like the headset way more than the Quest Pro after using it for a few months. The sweet spot on the Pro is better but the comfort and the microphone are really bad. That and the picture even with the new Steam link is very blurry and ghosty compared to the Beyond. I wish that Wigig was still used for wireless as that could help deal with the issues it has on Quests. If the Beyond's audio strap comes soon as that'll make it GOAT for me if it can keep things secured well enough.

I have a Beyond and really enjoy mine. I agree with you that the stock strap sucks and the cable clip especially is fucking ass. The small sweet spot is also my biggest complaint and it's something I noticed the big reviewers like Shillseeker and Linus not talk about much oddly enough.
Colors, resolution, and comfort make it the ideal headset for me though for now.

Just call it whatever you guys want imo.
A Monday Meetup non-descript.
But everyone and their mothers and normies have called monday drinking nights as margarita monday since it's catchy. Pic related is not even the earliest trackable date of people using the term

If there is someone who wants to do a monday meet up then the important thing is to find an equally catchy name for it since the "margarita" term has already been sullied in this localized community of ours as an event that kicks other /vrg/ people.

I wonder if the sweetspot varies by IPD. I'm at 63mm and while the bigmeme sweetspot is definitely smaller than index, it's not unbearably small. I can still read small text across the center ~50deg without turning my head. Which is better than what I remember the reverb g2 being. The glare is still my biggest complaint I think; though after months with the headset my brain has somehow stopped noticing the glare which is cool I guess but it's still there if I look for it. The strap also sucks though.

parameter sync
Have to "sync" parameters in the FX layer if you haven't done so already.
Or maybe define them correctly and make sure they're spelled correctly in the parameter object.
That's the only issue I can think of without having access to the project itself.
Viseme parameters are called automatically so it shouldn't be an issue (hence my guess on the parameter sync), and unless I know what the "other playable layers" are I really can't comment on those.
If I remember correctly you have to initialize parameters first separately then make another reference to them in the FX layer, then make sure both are referenced correctly in the avatar descriptor.

Yea I'm with you on being disappointed with the Beyond. I've been holding out on giving a final verdict on the headset until I get a thinner face gasket from the devs but I'm unoptimistic that it will change much. My biggest gripe is the fov, it's a very noticeable regression from the Index at its max FOV. It's got some other issues too but the FOV alone is enough to make me write it off as a $1000 dollar sidegrade to the Index.

Shillseeker and Linus come off as deceptive by mentioning small visual compromises in their reviews while leaving out the huge problem of the small sweet spot.

The glare everyone warned me about is negligible for me. I've got a 68mm IPD and looking around at all ruins the clarity.

Maybe asking for a thinner face cushion would help, mine is pretty thick on the bottom. Might be causing some of the distortion around the bottom of the lenses. The FOV drawbacks are huge. I was expecting next gen but the index is probably still better.

>>456754982
I'm honestly considering this. I had to go through a whole fiasco to get my bluetooth working so I could use my earbuds since the fucking audio strap is months out still. I've had it for over a week but haven't used it much between taking my computer to a technician for a few days and work.

>>456762110
Yeah, and something cheaper like the Reverb would probably be better. Got pretty burned here.

Has anyone here ever used the crystal? With the faceplate it can work with my steam vr basestation setup and has native wireless pc vr. Its size and the complaints I've read about earlier Pimax headsets causing tension headaches put me off from it. Also I'm a big vr fps fan and I use the VRS Mark 3 which uses the same stock as an AR-15. I wanted something without the bottom lip my Vive has that can get in the way of me looking down the sights like I would for any other rifle.

It's not only biggest and heaviest Pimax yet (heavier than Index), it comes with battery pack that needs to be connected for it to work while connected to PC because of some retarded Snapdragon license terms. Put the usual terrible software, brittle headstrap and lack of QA on top and you have Crystal. Strictly and only for simfags, for anybody else even fucking CV1 would be better.

You can still use the Index ( or a Vive ) as a pair of dongles for your controllers, without actually using it as a headset.
Connect your index, open up Windows device manager and locate any device that's part of the Index ( Bluetooth controller, audio devices etc ), select it and switch the view to "devices by connection".
You will then get a hierarchy of all the devices that are connected via the same USB hub with the device you selected highlighted, including things like the the Lighthouse tracker of the Index, and the individual Watchman ( SteamVR ) dongles.
You can identify which devices are the Watchman dongles by looking at their Bus Reported Device Description property ( picture related ).
Disable anything but the USB hubs and the Watchman dongles, and do not connect the display cable, and it will serve as a Watchman dongle for two devices.
Picture is the "devices by connection" view of my OG Vive, which has been on dongle duty for many years now.

I accidentally left my Vive's USB connected while launching VD from my Quest, and SteamVR would shit itself with very unhelpful error messages. Took several hours of troubleshooting for me to realize what was up.
There's been a bunch of threads with people having trouble using their Vives as dongles, and this has generally been the solution.
Could potentially be a Vive thing, or maybe an issue only present when multiple SteamVR drivers are enabled.
If your stuff already works then no benefit.

You could try asking for a different face cushion or maybe your IPD isn't exact, yeah. I think getting the most out of the Beyond is really going to be dependent on how well that face gasket is able to fit your face and IPD perfectly in to the sweet spot to make it as large as possible. I have two face cushions and one of them noticeably doesn't fit right compared to the other and causes much more blur, much smaller sweet spot.

i'm impressed at the visuals coming from an og vive. the fov is especially nice, the vive always felt like looking through binoculars but the index doesn't have that effect at all. however i wasn't expecting the sde to still be so prominent, it's absolutely miles better and doesn't obstruct your vision (vive's sde honestly makes it hard to see) but it's still constantly visible.
these controllers are going to take a lot of getting used to though. it doesn't feel at all natural to have my fingers off the handles so i keep forgetting that i'm "gripping" and my brain gets confused when i go to pick something up and don't have a button to press.

one thing you can test is taking the face gasket off and seeing if you can manually hold the headset in a position where you get good clarity. That at least rules out whether the optics are totally fucked or just the gasket is scanned/printed wrong/not squished hard enough when you wear it normally. I think my gasket position is slightly off fwiw, so you could've gotten more unlucky with your scan/print.

>cheaper like the Reverb would probably be better.

yes the g2 is fresnel.

currently the only WIRED pancake headset is the bigscreen beyond, all other pancake headsets are wireless.

there is also aspheric lenses which are used in some pimax and varjo headsets and are arguably the best lenses you can get in a vr headset currently - but this isnt because they are the most clear its because they are the most balanced between clarity and light penetration.

the problem with pancake is that they lose like 90% of light coming through which means its likely impossible to make a wireless OLED pancake headset because itll have horrible battery life. the bigscreen beyond can do OLED because it is wired and can just push a ton of power to the display to get through the light loss, but it still doesnt have good blacks like the vive OLED did.

the reason we dont have aspheric lenses in everything is because theyre big as fuck and headsets are going in the direction of being as slim as possible.

which means in the coming generations we'll probably see a divide between enthusiast headsets using aspheric lenses with OLED displays and consumer headsets using pancakes and regular LED screens

fresnels are dead tech and were only ever used because they were cheap at the time

It's a full fledged mod
https://github.com/teddybear082/CrueltySquadVR-Modloader

Physical climbing, weapon two handing, radial menus, working sights, immersive driving, and it even works with custom levels kind of. It's sad that this is higher effort than actual Hitman VR which is a flat to VR port I'd consider bad.

It's easier in some ways with how the grabppendix is adjusted. It automatically retracts and shoots out again on a button press rather than making you wait. Some platforming as in Trauma Loop is harder, which sucks as you of course don't get the grabppendix the first time around.

It's fun. Nice and clean gameplay with very little jank. Not a huge amount of variety though I haven't played all the classes. Feels nice to play. Praying mechanic is well done. Every class will have one primary and one secondary. You go through a short level of enemies and eventually reach a boss. There's three or four bosses in total. Enemies are dogs, giant laser monsters, and guys with guns of various types. As you level up your classes you can buy permanent upgrades for them and unlock new classes. Throughout the level you'll get the opportunity to perks for your character and charms for your guns which last for as long as the run.
The price is reasonable for what you're getting out of the box.

I'll pay for a unique experience. Like, the RoomVR was actually good. Fisherman's tale has some jank and worth paying for. Not worth 30 bucks, but still worth paying for. Alyx was worth every penny. Lone Echo was worth the money, and lone echo II wasn't bad but not as good as the first. All the 2 dollar 'experiences' which are just 360 videos with narration aren't worth even that little amount.

Half-finished shooters and "sword+sorcery with goblins" are not worth paying for. They're diluting the market with shovelware.

The fact that VR mods for proper games is still better than 99% of the native market is pathetic. I shouldn't be able to say Skyrim VR is better than most of the market. Because skyrim VR is trash.

VRChat isn't a game. It's a chatroom for weeaboo's and groomers.

You will never get a Double Yakuman. You have no Junsei, you have no 9 sided wait, you have no 13 sided wait. You are an addict twisted by Riichi's and Dora into a crude mockery of a native tile clacker.
All the Han you get is baby and worthless. People Ron you right in your face. Your flow is non existent, and you never draw east/your wind tiles. The Parlor is utterly repulsed by you. Thousands of hands played have allowed others to read your hand with incredible efficiency.
Even nips who "never play" are incredibly more skilled than you. Your discards are a dead giveaway. And even if you manage to get into tenpai, you'll never get close to Ron'ing the dealer. You will never win a yaku. You wrench out a fake smile every single hanchan and tell yourself it's going to be ok, but deep inside you feel yourself dealing in more and more.
Eventually it'll be too much to bear - you'll stop hosting, change your name, and go permanently red. No one will be able to invite you, relieved that there's no possiblility of you touching tiles again. They'll throw your name up on the hall of fame, upside down, with a caption that says "Here lies anon, he never even got a yaku". Your VRChat account and thousands of hours you've acquired will virtually rust, and that picture will be all that remains of your legacy as a tile clacker.

This is your fate. This is what you chose. There is no turning back.

In terms of price/ performance, where does the new Vive ultimate trackers sit? Base station tracking is ~100$/tracker + 2 x 150$ base stations so ~600$ total for FBT maybe cheaper used. But the issues with those are the occlusion and random drifting. When VUT gets pc/other standalone support it'll be $600 for FBT for all headsets, it'll may work for all future headsets released too. You wont be stuck with the base station tracking devices. Rumor is that tracking is as good if not better than basestation. And it works in most environments. IMU are the cheapest but drift and require many calibrations. So for the best performance VUT seems to be the winner. That said, its hard to trust Vive to to much right.

the quest 3 didn't sell as well as the quest 2.

honestly I think the only worthy application for it is taking 3d videos... but meta being the retards they are made it impossible without a third party script

All they have to do is match the existing trackers in a hybrid setup to be worth getting for anyone that doesn't already have base stations.
I won't believe they actually work that well until normal people get them and regularly use them outside of an ideal environment though.

Running the Nevada Highway from Need for Speed: ProStreet in Assetto Corsa tomorrow night at 8PM EST (about 25.5 hours from now).
Fixed the config issues and actually properly tested everything, so we shouldn't have to run something else instead this time.
Not a lot of pit slots, tried to stick to cars from the game.
Let me know if you have anything else you want to run, I can switch the config around after we run for a bit.

Recently I've been having this issue with my Q2 where it shows as fully charged (oculus dashboard AND green LED) when it obviously isnt, this is while plugged to the wall and in use.
My PD charger was able to keep it charging forever while in use but now the Q2 randomly decides to stop drawing power and the battery drains slowly.
This happened to anyone here before? at this rate I don't know if it was an update or something that fucked it up because is not even consistent.

I believe it's designed to not sit at 100% charge all the time even if it's plugged in since that isn't good for the battery life, if it's just dropping down to around 90% I think that's normal. If it's stopping charging at 50% or something then you might have a faulty cable or something.

Most of what I'm using is strictly optional. The nazi flags and assaultron maids are only there for personal taste.

You probably want to do something like https://rentry.org/pofw5 for the vanilla game working well in VR, and maybe get one of the Steam Deck texture packs if you have a potato.

The thing is that its been happening at any charge percentage, the led turns green, oculus dash says 100% but VD/Steam Link display the real charge level, so essentially the headset stops drawing extra power unless I unplug/plug, but at that point I am just waiting until it does it again.
I thought it would be the cable/charger too but I tried with all of them and it happens randomly with all of them, battery life looks fine, still lasts 2ish hours over VD in a full charge so I dunno.

A lot of the review videos on the Crystal mention these issues. Sounds even worse then the Beyond. Problem is only the Crystal and the Vive Pro offer any kind of wireless PCVR that uses base station tracking and would work my my Knuckles controllers. i got a Vive Pro 2 with the wireless add on last year but returned it because it was such a piece of shit. It broke almost instantly. I was getting 5 frames a second on wireless mode, even after plugging the cable back in this was the issue. The wireless adapter did something fucked up to brick my headset. Thankfully I ordered all of it through Amazon and was able to refund everything.

>>456774345
A lot of people seem to dislike Pimax, sounds like they have not improved upon their issues with the Crystal. Quest Pro might be a good option but I'd need to get new hookups for my different gun stocks since I couldn't use my Knuckles. Without the ring on the top they won't mount correctly to my VRS Mark 3 gun stock.

>>456774894
I just emailed them about the issues with the through the lens picture quality. I mentioned the face cushion thing.

>>456785384
I just tried this and the picture was noticeably better but the bottom third of my lenses are still blurry. The cushion must be too thick but the distortion on the bottom of the lenses is still always noticeable and super distracting. I'm wondering if my lenses are defective, I've heard some other people have had issues with this. I find it hard that the g2 could have a smaller sweet spot then the Beyond. For what I spent I could have just bought the Varjo Aero.

Now my right index controller is acting all fucked up. The trigger keeps sticking. Wonder if I could fix this myself or if I have to replace it. I've only had these about 15 months.

I recently got a Pico 4 myself with pretty much all the accessories possible for it, AMVR facial gasket is pretty much a must if you have a European type of head. Bobovr battery strap helps quite a bit as well and makes it a bit more comfy, yet it reduces the adjustment know just a bit, so it can be kinda a negative if you have big head.

Also A BIG THING that I found recently is that you can do indeed do wireless without buying an expensive WIFI 6 router. You can use a WIFI hotspot method using SPECIFICALLY a Mediatek MT7921K m.2 wifi card that you later put on either a PCIe x1 adapter card or swap it in your PC motherboard if you have an available slot.
Intel m.2 WIFI AX cards the usual PCIe wifi card comes with DO NOT WORK because they skipped the 5Ghz band, they only come in 2.4Ghz and 6Ghz, but the Mediatek I mention does come with the 5Ghz band too, so you can launch Hotspot mode on windows with no issues. 6Ghz hotspot is yet unavailable due of telecommunication restrictions as of yet afaik, besides windows still doesn't have any 6G hotspot support anyways.
It exists a single Intel AX card that allows you to connect a VR directly, but you are forced to have a 12th gen or newer Intel platform, and its only for Meta Quest 2 onwards, so yeah, better not bother since, who these days even builds a PC with an Intel CPU except it was on sale these days lmao.

As for the Pico 4, I tried it with the streamer assistance app and its ok, but it still was a bit lackluster, so I bought Virtual Desktop for it, looked much better, but still the main culprit ended up being both my ISP router which is shit, and the WIFI card that my PC has its just 488mbps max, so its a barely serviceable WIFI card.

The Mediatek wifi card I found it on aliexpress, with the PCIe x1 adapter costed me in total like $22 shipped, now im waiting for it to arrive. Lucky me that I know a bit of spanish and these guys have quite a bit of good stuff you don't find on usual english channels.

I'm looking into buying a Quest 2 for the sole purpose of playing Beat Saber with custom maps and mods. Unfortunately for me, this is one of those times where my obsession with rhythm games comes in conflict with my moral compass regarding locked down devices with draconian policies/DRM and privacy. I don't have the money nor a potent enough PC for something like the valve index.

How is the hacking/modding scene for the Quest 2?
Is it possible to set it up without account/remove account and telemetry?
Can the device be jailbroken/rooted?
Are there any significant limitations imposed on modding games on the device?
Do I have to mind the firmware version of the device for any additional functionality?
Is the smartphone app required for any of this, and if so, can I use something like WayDroid or BlissOS in a VM to set it up once and never touch it again?
Once set up, is an internet connection required for anything important like installing and using software?

So far I've found out about SideQuest and Oculess, which presumably remediate some of my issues with this, but information about how well these work is constantly changing and currently unclear, so I'd love to know if someone else who has tried making the quest at least slightly more sane has any experience with how well these solutions work.

>How is the hacking/modding scene for the Quest 2?
Mods and homebrew are decently alive.
>Is it possible to set it up without account/remove account and telemetry?
You need account for setup and dev mode that will allow you to remove the telemetry later. Note that without account it's only usable as PC HMD.
>Can the device be jailbroken/rooted?
No, there's not even any effort to do so anymore.
>Are there any significant limitations imposed on modding games on the device?
Updates usually break the mods but that's it.
>Do I have to mind the firmware version of the device for any additional functionality?
FW autoupdates but it's possible to downgrade. There's no reason to stick to any particular version.
>Is the smartphone app required for any of this, and if so, can I use something like WayDroid or BlissOS in a VM to set it up once and never touch it again?
Only needed for first setup, you can safely nuke it afterwards.
>Once set up, is an internet connection required for anything important like installing and using software?
Except for sideloading own APKs you need to connect and login to install anything from the store.

Standalone Quest is VR console, you have very little control and even if you had some there's very little you can do with it when not connected to Zucc.

Thanks! From what I gather, the quest 2 is perfectly fine as a standalone headset as well, so I'll probably end up using it like that once I have a good PC for it, so I guess in that respect it's not any more locked down than the rest of 'em, at least, when set up like that.

>You need account for setup and dev mode that will allow you to remove the telemetry later. Note that without account it's only usable as PC HMD.
Annoying, but alright, I'll spend an evening on making throwaways then.
>No, there's not even any effort to do so anymore.
Any reason why? Is PCVR just better/easier in general so people stopped bothering treating it as a standalone console?
>FW autoupdates but it's possible to downgrade.
This is awesome information for whenever they find a good exploit. Is there any guide for doing this so I can add it to my notes?
>Only needed for first setup, you can safely nuke it afterwards.
Disappointing but workable.
>Except for sideloading own APKs you need to connect and login to install anything from the store.
I expect this is primarily what I'll be doing, anyway, if it's possible to obtain games as standalone APKs.

>Standalone Quest is VR console, you have very little control and even if you had some there's very little you can do with it when not connected to Zucc.
I can see that, and I kind of hate myself for contributing to it by allowing it and getting such a device. Unfortunately, economics are at play...

There was one guy exactly that tried to jailbreak Quest but he gave up. Literally nobody else with needed skills and equipment gives a single fuck about VR and nobody with devkit gives a single fuck about jailbreaks. There isn't even any active effort in finding exploits. Mainly because you don't need jailbreak to pirate games and 90% of users are kids that are too retarded to sideload.
If you pirate you obviously don't need to be connected. Keep in mind that lots of games are always online only, even singleplayer ones.

Literally the worst meme in the video game industry as a whole, and not because it prevents me from pirating it. I'd gladly pay for it if it was released on something like GOG.
Anyway, yeah I get it, VR is primarily a novelty enjoyed by basedboys who'll gladly take as many dildoes up the ass as necessary. I just really wish this wasn't the way technology evolved over the years.

Also by the way I'm baffled how bad the SteamVR overlay is compared to the Oculus overlay on the CV1. Opening desktops only works if I actually start a game, and even then I can't click on shit 80% of the time and explorer.exe just straight up crashes when I touch the tray.
Should I get Virtual Desktop or something? Does that work wired? Also I already found games where it would need to use the menu button on the left controller, but one button (the circle) is taken up by the Pico overlay, and the other is taken up for SteamVR, so I can't open the menu in the game... It will take time getting used to.

B&S is definitely worth a try, even though it's a physics tech demo. Boneworks is also a game of value, it has properly neat atmosphere and soundtrack, and it's often just plain fun even though high-level gameplay design might fall a little bit short in favor of physics gimmicks. You may or may not want to give Primitier a shot, it recently got an update with space exploration(??) and I can't wait to give it a proper shot.

Though I got a feeling we're a very different kind of vidya enjoyers, so things I like might seem lame to you. Still, I'd say those tree are very much worth considering.

Yeah I just don't know. And Steaming assistant is actually unclickable when looking at it through the steamvr desktop, so I have to take the headset off/ go into passthrough. Passthrough is nice, but I had games where they just forgot my controllers ever existed after switching back from passthrough mode.

Its definitely a SteamVR issue, also I had a problem when I changed the settings on the Pico Stream Assistant while SteamVR was open and made my PC crash, only way to fix it was to revert settings to default on it.
Virtual Desktop on the other hand is just vastly superior in every way, even now that I have a shitty router I still manage to make it run better than with Pico Assistant. I haven't tested using USB-C directly yet, but I think also that you wont see that much improvement compared to what it was with the Pico 3 using Displayport, since that one had a lower resolution screen too, just make sure to pick a good router or WIFI card like the Mediatek I posted above. Some anons might say the hotspot method sucks cuz is limited, but I think that its just a better and cheaper solution, besides there is also some other WIFI antennas you could use that just use USB 3.0, great if you have a good laptop and you wanna bring the VR along if you are in that area of need. Now if you can get the router, just do so, it will improve not only your VR connection, but also everything else you have at home.
As for the "Opening Desktops" only with a game running, you could buy Desktop Portal on Steam, its cheap and very comfy, I think it also has some features similar to XSOverlay as well, and the dev that made it is the one that made Gorilla Tag.

I think they all use GPU encoding by default, now with Virtual Desktop you have the option to choose the specific codec you want to use, shamefully AV1 is only supported by the Quest 3, the Snapdragon XR2 doesn't decode AV1, only the Gen 2 version does.

You can tell if they're not using NVENC or AMF by your CPU being smashed to absolute shit.
>>456891226
It's barely fucking worth it. The codec in theory is best for low bitrates and for recovering from decode errors, neither of which apply to VR streaming. It has maybe a 1% VMAF adv over the current nvidia HEVC encoders at high bitrates all the while people report higher latencies sometimes.
The NVENC (and even more so AMF) AV1 hardware encoders suck compared to the potential and i fucking wish people could research this shit before parroting opinions of others.

I also have the same GPU and honestly, you aren't missing out on much, besides AV1 does add latency, so its only worth using if you have a 4070Ti or higher, since those have the double encoder chip, some consider that for more high paced games that is just better to lower the quality one tier down and stick to HEVC/H.265
Also another important thing is, that you have to buy Virtual Desktop on your headset's store, not on Steam. The Steam version of VD is for stuff like the old Oculus or Valve Index, VR headsets that worked using a cable, not wireless.
>>456891562
Yeah, that's why many people still recommend getting a high end GPU anyways over the "recommended" settings all due of encoding stuff, because when something like a 2060 reaches peak usage, the latency just goes apeshit if are in wireless mode.
AV1 for VR usage is still on diapers, for video production or streaming/recording shit like OBS its were its more useful, since the latency there wont matter.
