This week in news, the irish have been defeated and we are back to status quo. The weather has been getting nicer, so maybe its time to start getting out and working on your summer fits.

What is this?
Six races will send out representatives of their team to participate in simple games and challenges to earn points, the winning clan will earn the title of the superior race.

Theme:
Gladitory arena turned into a graffiti'd slum
There will be assets attached to later posts so you can show your racial pride or hatred toward others.
Signs and slogans will be encouraged.
If you submit a decent piece of racist graffiti and its good I'll happily add it to the map as well just respond to this post with it.

When?
So far there hasn't been a date fully established but I wanted to make the post so people can start thinking about outfits ahead of time if thats what you want to do, ideally aiming for 1-3 months from now it will be my first map and event so please be patient with me
This will be an NA event unless there is an EU who would like to host and run it for that timezone.

I'll additionally need team captains to tard wrangle each of the races, if anyone wants to volunteer feel free to reach out to the retard with googly eyes.

I bought the parts to solder full slime-VRs together once I buy some 3D printed shells, and I'm thinking of buying the parts to make an EyeTrackVR set too.

I hate to do this, but i'm moving back the date for Chorketowne 3. My plan was to work on it most of this month but a different job popped up so as it is i'll only have a week or so to actually put in time to mapmaking.

Bought the Vive Ultimate Trackers and I can tell you right now this trash is going right back where it came from.

Lighthouses are still the same, Knuckles are still the best controller, and the headset is showing it's age but still pretty good. A used Index kit is a good investment if you're planning to build on it, but if you just want to test the waters, you can get a new Quest 2 for 200 bucks right now which is a fucking steal and will get you into PCVR for ~325 bucks after the router, battery pack, and headstrap upgrade.

As far as the headset goes it's quite dated. The resolution is pretty bad compared to modern headsets, the lenses are bad as well, but audio and microphone is top-notch.
But if you're looking to eventually upgrade to fullbody tracking and such, it's a no-brainer to get the full Index kit since it comes with base stations and controllers which you can continue to use when you decide to upgrade the headset in the future, and of course base stations are needed for full body tracking.
There's also simply no better deal when it comes to PCVR headsets, a full Index kit retailing at $1,000 w/ base stations and controllers is pretty much the cheapest headset + controllers + base station bundle that exists. Vive headset bundles are insanely expensive in comparison and Bigscreen headset alone is $999 and they don't even offer any bundle deals with base stations or controllers.

Doesn't really matter if the Quest 2 is $200 if the guy is trying to get in to full body tracking later down the line.
Gonna be another like $800 for base stations + 4 trackers (since you need an extra tracker on the headset for continuous calibration if you're doing Quest FBT) so that's already at the price of the Index kit, and that's not even factoring in a third party strap you'll have to buy and third party facial interface since Quest has notoriously shit stock comfort, then don't forget about buying extra batteries so your Quest doesn't immediately die after an hour and a half. And if your router is garbage you'll have to spend even more to buy another.

It's mix of factors, the PCVR guy reached out to Team Beef when Q3A port was still in development and convinced them his port will be better so they didn't bother with PCVR and at the same time most of the work on Q3A was already done by older GearVR/Go version so they only needed to implement 6DoF and update it to OpenXR. Meanwhile PCVR guy gave up and TB moved on to other ports.

I regret wasting time playing it.
Extremely buggy, gameplay is shallow as fuck and the whole game revolves around retarded grinding. If you want any sort of challenge you need to fight with enemies 10 lvls higher than you, but then you can't use the things they drop because everything is level gated and if you try to use an item even 1 lvl higher than you, the hits just magically don't register. You also move obnoxiously slow for no reason at all. Taking damage doesn't matter, because you can just open a portal after every single fight and heal around the fire making potions completely useless. And even if you die, usually to the bugs, it doesn't matter because enemies don't respawn unless you change the level so you just have to walk.
Should have stopped after 1 hour, because at that point I saw basically everything.

QPro is definitely comfier, screen is better and as a whole package it's cheaper than Q3 after all the upgrades. It's also much better for PCVR thanks to eye tracking. This is a /vrg/ dancing group/club open to any anon. It is first and foremost a ParaPara (dance style for eurobeat) circle but is also open to other types of dancing, with the recent addition of Wotagei (dance style using lightsticks) as an activity.
The main goal is to actively learn those dance styles with eventual content made out of it, anyone is free to join no matter if they want to take it seriously or just as a fun thing. No issues with 3 pointers either!

Index is the best all-rounder wired headset right now. Everything else is a compromise or much more expensive.
Quest 3 is the best wireless headset right now. It's cheaper, but fullbody is more annoying (and makes it just about as expensive), video quality is worse and things don't just "work" straight out of the box when you wanna do PCVR stuff.

The video quality is way better. Encoding artefacts are a meme compared the the massive increase in fidelity.
PCVR works just fine out of the box so long as you aren't trying to mix lighthouse and quest tracking.
The index is great, don't get me wrong, but recommending it over the quest 3 is not a good idea. Even for someone who wants FBT.

Ideally we'd be sitting on the index 2 right now which would basically be a quest 3 with lighthouse tracking, but we ain't.

These and the lack of color depth are incredibly obvious to me, maybe I'm a stickler for good visual quality but have you actually used something like an Index or a Vive Pro 2 before? Going from regular Index usage all the way to a Quest Pro was awful. I turn my head and everything is a blocky mess for half a second.

Well that is one problem, but another issue is that you also need a capable router because otherwise you are going to suffer, so that's another hassle.
Then you set it up but to use PCVR you have to launch airlink or VD every time you want to play a VR game. Then you pray it works. If it doesn't then lmao xd you're back to restarting and trying again.

playing some Fruit Ninja 2 from the VR bundle posted last thread, it's got a decent amount of variety and exploring the small open world is fun
I'll probably be done with it before hitting 10 hours but it's worth grabbing in the bundle at least.

I did everything the thread told me to. It has full bars in the Quest menu. I'm using 5Ghz wifi on a 6E router like the thread told me. I endlessly adjusted the airlink and virtual desktop settings. I enabled HEVC 10-bit in VD. My PC is connected with wired ethernet cable. But there was still latency and while the video colors were noticeably better on HEVC, the bitrate always felt too low and after turning around it took ~0.35 seconds to be able to read most text.

Man, I wanna play with an AK in Into the Radius, but only the M4 can have everything.

Maybe I don't need everything, what are your experiences with different attachments? I suppose I don't need a collimator sight if I have a laser pointer, so I can put a scope on top instead. But with a laser I can't put a flashlight and the head lamp's range is pitiful. The scope with zoom also darkens the image for some reason, so I'd need a flashlight. Do you often need to use a flshlight on a gun?

In 2.0 you can change the AK to have a picatinny rail so you can use the better attachments.
My overall take on the attachments is that the flashlight is pretty useful but moreso on a pistol or close quarters weapon as on scope ranges it won't help. Lasers are good but I didn't use them on principle.
It doesn't matter too much what weapon you do use, as even if you want to live off the land there's not enough AK ammo lying around to feed you; but you will save some money having it supplemented. The SCAR-L with a 1-4x scope is probably the best overall gun in the game. Hits very hard, and use a sidearm for non-ranged enemies or if you just want to kill. Whatever you use, it's good to have sights that work in the dark, I had a LOT of problem using the vintorez because it doesn't have tritium sights. If there was an upgrade I could buy to add glow sights to stuff I'd buy it for every gun.

If and when the PSVR2 headset gets proper PC VR support would it be even worth it at this point?

Might be worth using if you already had one for some reason, but you'd be better off with a Quest 3 or cheap Quest Pro for about the same price.
Because of the Pentile display, you might even be better off with a Quest 2 for PCVR, and that's way cheaper.

The thing with llm powered npcs is that its still quite expensive if done through an llm web api service like openai or others. look for photogrammetry apps. Doubt there are any for the Q3, and if, don't expect meshes that are good out of the box, the work that goes into cleaning up a mesh created by photogrammetry is more than building the same mesh from scratch
