Oculus mirror when the desktop mirror sucks. OBS replay buffer to record like most people, just open overlay or set the hotkey to something else to find on the keyboard. 90 seconds is enough to capture almost anything I want, if not then I try to hit record preemptively.
Started with WebM for lazies to convert and now use FFmpeg directly through command prompt because I've started using it for things other than webms too.

I've spun together a nice pack so far, its Create centric with all its addons. Most importantly Steam 'n Rails for that blessed trainserb feel. I also included Botania for a magic option and Modern Industrialization for Tech
Other mods are a shitload of exploration mods, adding more structures, Zenith (Fabric apotheosis), and a freighter's worth of decorative mods
I've added all the performance mods I could find but I no doubt missed a bunch so feel free to point that out

Make sure you know how to do incremental backups (I like borgbackup, restic is fine too) before you open the server. And find a land claiming/permissions mod that works okay. I think there are still no coreprotect-style block rollback mods for fabric yet, but it's worth researching as well.

The quest has 3 options for linking to PC and one of them is official. It's also the most popular brand of VR headsets used on PC by far.

In theory, facebook wants to be the only company selling VR games and VR hardware. You can always speculate that if their advantage was ever high enough they would abandon PCVR functionality. But they dominated the VR market with the quest 2 and that didn't happen. Instead they allow PCVR use and people see more value in their headsets because they work on PC. If they ever pulled the rug valve would probably step in.

While I'd like more guns in the game, I don't think these huge mod packs are the best way to go about it. VRMassive has probably tens of custom guns over various modpacks and the only one that is commonly bought is the powercrept assault rifle at 3k. I use that. It has vents but doesn't stop you from sweating all over it from pypy. Vents are only good enough to keep it from fogging up.

What's the best quest 2 audio solution?

Apparently logitech thought the dac/amp was so bad they blocked the usb port to make their headphones that don't work sometimes and nobody likes.

I have studio monitors I plugged into the audio jack and its just, ok. It's not worth the heat of the muffs, and a headband is a problem if you use a useable headstrap.

I can't tolerate in-ear earbuds. Any kind of flat/hard earbuds that sit in your ear are fine with me but they would probably fall out.

Will koss porta pros fit under the plastic halo of headstraps?

That leaves other head straps with built in audio that use the audio jack. But I figure the sound quality would be worse than all other options.

They work reasonably well, but personally, I found myself skipping through the sex stuff more and more to get back to what I was doing. I honestly think Pimax Crystal Light would be a better option than bigscreen beyond once it comes out. Besides being big and bulky, it has a lot less compromises. The bigscreen seems to only offer OLED and a very small form factor but you're sacrificing so much for that. The low brightness, small FOV, glare issue, small sweet spot, and you're limited to 90/75hz.

It was. I got a 256 headset (I ordered a 128) for $55 bucks. I also ordered a second one, but the shipper apparently didn't check my order for volume. He has said he will ship the second one on Monday, and once it arrives I can check the storage volume.
The idea is to use it for media consumption, for the most part. But I'll probably order some controlled at some point. Especially as part of my idea was to use it for big screen with my whole family, but big screen doesn't work with hand tracking on the quest two rip.

Yea. Once you turn on the hand tracking, it works fine. But you have to bypass the controller setup screen via the web browser every time you turn it on. Which frankly isn't a huge deal, and can be easily solved by pairing a pair of controllers at least long enough to bypass the screen. But it is something to be aware of, and it is possible that faceburg will "fix" it at any given point in time like a lot of the other work arounds that have existed.

It is legitimately impressive how much better the Quest 3 passthrough got after the v64 update. Legitimately feel like it went from 360p quality to 720p.
Still got a ways to go of course, would love to see it in at least 1080p sort of quality, but being able to actually view text on my PC monitor from passthrough on my Quest 3 now is HUGE.

Trying to get OBS replay to work in VR because shadowplay doesn't regocognize some VR games. Is there a way to capture the game/VR view without having to do screen capture or capture the steam vr preview window? Some games don't get recognized by game capture so I figure the preview window is all I can record and I have to record the desktop audio instead of the application itself.

Is there an easier or better way of doing this?
