It made me realize that we reached to a point that is impossible to use normal avatars in an 80 people instance.
I wonder how an instance can run if everyone was using an excellent perfomant avatar, I remember we did something like this for the Alice play and I had frames, not very high frames but I was showing everyones avatar, but also it was during a time were EAC wasn't taking at least 20% of your pc resources (it was before the anti-cheat, right?).

I've been having some trouble with my Vive 2 pro lately. Whenever I turn it on I get this error message that says "You've exceeded the maximum number of monitors". And to fix this I have to unplug my ultrawide monitor's display port cable, plug in my tiny monitor with HDMI and then reboot my computer.
This obviously gets very tedious to the point where I just choose to not use VR as much.

Normally I would just accept this as a hardware issue, but my setup used to work perfectly fine.
I haven't been able to find a fix online so I come to you for help VR anons.

The main negative on the event was that there was only one instance and only 80 people could fill that instance so the people that missed out were understandably pissed.
Really don't see how the event could be anything other than one instance though with how the team games worked so I think it was as good as it could be with the instance cap.
Yell at VRC to increase the instance limit cap instead of yelling at the event organizer is my take.

It was my first event and map ever so definitely some things I missed and need to keep in mind to improve on for next time sorry for anyone who wasn't able to play a game or even get in I tried to make it so as many people could get involved as possible but an overflow just wouldn't have been feasible at all with how the entire event works
If people really liked it and enjoyed themselves I'd definitely be down to do it again some time in the future maybe next year with brand new games and a new theme
I'm so excited my brain is going crazy with new stupid chaotic game ideas, I'll definitely try to get someone streaming it next time
We did also have Aussie C record the entire thing which I'll try to get uploaded some time soon when I'm more awake if anyone would be interested in seeing it
If anyone has any criticisms or ideas to improve anything at all please let me know it was my first map ever and first event ever so there's definitely room for improvement

I set my in game settings to make it so any avatar above an uncompressed size of 165mb wouldn't load and would just show up as a fallback or imposter. That's why I didn't bother taking many pictures myself. I had too many fallbacks and imposters showing for good pictures.
But that meant I was fine for lag during the event because heavy avatars wouldn't load at all, sparing me from them.

short answer is yes: we'd all like more stuff to do with our headsets. Longer answer: you will have to put a lot of work into reducing the friction of the multiplayer experience enough to justify the "couldn't this have just been a vrchat map". It's not just the price; even free games (e.g. hyperdash) have the friction of launching a whole different game, clicking through lobby creation, setting a password, telling it to your friends, then twiddling your thumbs waiting for them to show up. With vrchat, you have the incredibly valuable baseline of spatialized voice chat plus a friends list you can actually access in VR (looking at you, steam friends). So even if the game sucks or falls apart, you still have this continuum of being with your friends. Much closer to an irl party game experience; you can boot up mario party on the TV, and play it, but you're still in the room together with people whose company you enjoy, and you can turn off the game when it's boring without losing the company.

You can overcome this friction to various degrees; I think walkabout does it the best, a lobby with simple codes, stuff to do while you're waiting, working voice chat, even little stuff like late joining sorted out. That (plus high-quality courses) are why I think it uniquely survives in this thread, despite it being paid and there being okay minigolf worlds in vrchat too.

t. also aspiring VR dev. It is fun, and pretty easy to get into. But do start with vrchat world development first. As weird as vrcsdk and udonsharp is, it's also pretty thin layer over base unity, so most of the stuff you learn will still apply to other frameworks and engines.

Use it and then reduce every texture to be below 2048. Alpha masks, normals for stuff that doesn't matter and similar should be 1k or even 512 if it's simple. You can undo changes easily if it makes it ugly.
VRAM optimization takes nearly zero skill or effort and should be absolutely everyone's mandatory obligation if they upload their avatar via vrcsdk.

Laggy as shit, no motion controls, aiming with a controller is nauseating, any kind of quick combat like melee and jumping and dashing is nauseating.

It's a cool mod for looking around the world and driving and that's about it.

I didn't find the controls to be much trouble but then I used KBM to play.
The biggest issue I have with the mod is it being alternate frame rendering and then using some spicy frame blending to get somewhat of a smooth motion.
Problem is frame blending/interp is extremely intensive so a fuckton of wasted performance compared to true stereo, and the game without any kind of TAA looks like a fireworks show so you end up with an extremely blurry image even rendering at 5000x2500.
As for playing the game itself I thought it was fine really. Mouse for large movement and head tracking for fine tuning your aim. Only section that sucks are shoot outs when riding a car.
Game is boring anyway. It's hard to not tune out of it after a dozen hours.

I have figured out the problem, while I was testing some stuff I accidentally broke something in my head mesh and as a solution I used an older version of the head mesh from a different FBX and that one still had the dividers between sections of the face. This resulted in my blink animation being an eye twitch instead of a blink.

Thank you for being willing to help, it ended up being an issue with blinking after all!

My Q3 purchase may have been a touch premature. I don't have spare money for standalone games or mandatory accessories, my PC can't really handle the steam ones I own at an acceptable resolution/framerate (VRC is a lost cause rn). The networking situation has been problem after problem and will likely remain so until I run cables up here and buy that one asus router everyone has.
Apparently playing trials of games locks you out of being able to even pirate them later and I don't really wanna give zuck my phone number anyway.
And worst of all, I have no space to play.

The thing just sits in its box (out of fear of the sun) until I wanna watch big YouTube videos in bed or try to play something with either quest link or steam link for 10 minutes before something fucks up.
