Pico 4 literally has the same CPU and GPU, screens and lenses (very good), but is more balanced, the default strap and audio doesn't suck, microphone is actually almost index level instead of meta crap. And Pico Connect just fucking works, and works extremely well. Up to 1000 megabits in h264 (usb recomended tho).

Controllers are fine as for "hmd camera based tracking". You will not be able to put it behind your back.

If you are interested in standalone games then Quest still has way more of them.

Also Pico Trackers 2.0 next month -ish, which seem to be IMU + optically tracked, and most likely will be the best and cheap FBT solution

Airlink is know to be shit software, and all quest user complain every second update. You either use SteamLink which limits resolution or pay some tranny for shitty VD. While Pico Connect just works out of the box and has decent presets and configuration options. If you need more you got opensource ALVR

It does not, cpu/gpu is weaker for now but p4s/p4ultra will.
Screen on p4 is really good and have better fov in my opinion, but some people prefer the Q3's colors and lenses. Even if they are both pancake it's not exactly same
Everything else I agree though, only thing I'm jealous of from quest is the iobt for elbows, but considering we're getting pico fbt trackers soon I think we're still eating good

I honestly don't know, when I tried the quest 3 at work I found it pretty underwhelming color-wise for both VR and passthrough compared to xr elite (was comparing them side by side)
It honestly makes little sense in my opinion since q3 doesn't have local dimming like qpro
Also q3 had a really weird screenshape, the fov is roughly the same as p4, but the edges of the screen makes an octogon which feels unnatural

The problem with most Bluetooth headphones is that they only support SBC audio, which is the same codec Bluetooth debuted with back in 2003, with a latency of ~200ms.
The good news is that we now have BLE Audio with LC3. The bad news is that very very few headphones support it, and even fewer phones/computers. Windows 10 doesn't support it either, win11 required.

However! /some/ SBC headphones have a low latency mode, which in my experience gets you pretty much wired latency.

Got the one pair of LC3-capable open-ear earbuds I could find ( not that I can use it on win10), and now use them all day outside of VR too.

The only downside with pro, is that you cannot get access to the store (pro is chinese only and requires some chinese ID to create an account) and need to run chinese firmware and pico connect.

Just to reiterate.

Pico 4 non pro is a global headset. Comes with Pico connect preinstalled. On the PC you just get the PC counterpart on the pico website.

Pico 4 Pro is chinese only headset, without a chinese phone number you don't have access to the store, but the account is completely optional.

To update Pico Connect on the Pro without an account and to get chinese version of the PC software you get the installer and apk file on the owomushi website.

Don't worry, chinese firmware and software still has english language.

I bought and played Astro Hunters so anons don't have to. Note that this is just "highlight" of my 30 minute recording since most of it was just running around empty planet.

For starters, VR interactions are pretty meh, they work but there's no feedback, haptics, everything is floaty. Also wrist menus have global colliders for some reason. Main gameplay loop is dropic on one single planet, volcanic, and harvesting resources nodes for upgrade materials and looting boxes for guns and mods and shit. It whole feels like Chinese knockoff of NMS with some Tarkov sparkled on top. Harvesting is just boring as you can see, looting is ass because of inconsistent grab points and distances and the single available planet is so small that you will see all of it in some 5 raids.
That leaves the combat part and oh boy, is it double ass. Guns have no attachements (coming Soon TM) so you're stuck with irons, even on snipers, but that doesn't matter because AI is braindead, it will rush in straight line and either engage in melee or shoot. Worst part is there's no reason to kill any NPCs aside from clearing path since they drop literally nothing. Can't comment about PvP since aside from first day after launch when some people were rushing extracts I haven't met a single person later.
That leaves progression and missions, missions are literally pointless and broken, they reward money or mods that you can get easier by just raiding, progression boils down to collecting X amount of Y to upgrade Z in obtuse crafting stations in hub where you have to fiddle with buttons and levers and menus.
Your base is right now just racks for storing stuff since there's nothing else to interact with.

TL;DR - this is slop of the highest degree and considering that there isn't even crossplay (coming Soon TM) it's already dead and effectively singleplayer shittier NMS.

I deleted "toggles" (outfits I could toggle on and off) from my avatar and imported a few new outfits to Unity. One of them I swapped to, and removed the old one. The size of my avatar, after I uploaded it, increased significantly. That's making me suspect that I've done something wrong. Do I need to delete inactive outfits in Unity? Do I need to delete them both in the Hierarchy tab and in the folder structure? I want to keep my file size as small as possible.

I'm doing some server testing of a new minecraft/vivecraft modpack tonight, in the next few hours or so. If you're interested to try it out, import https://file.vrg.party/crawler-packwiz-2024-08-08.zip into any of MultiMC/PolyMC/Prism Launcher as a new instance, which will autodownload all the mods you need and have the server set up in multiplayer already. This is a dungeon-crawling combat-focused pack, which I think will be more fun in VR than tech/building mods.

The server is already running, so feel free to login and kick the tires. Once I get on, we'll do some more extensive testing to make sure the mods play nice with each other (and my tiny server cpu) . Don't get attached to anything in the world though, we'll likely regenerate it before the official launch.

If you're interested but don't have the autism to download my just trust me bro modpack zip, we'll have better instructions and more info about what's in there when everything is finalized. Hopefully in the next week or so.

I don't think they're referring specifically to his work, just the way people have used it. It was originally only intended for the MMD community, specifically so people could dress Miku up in novel outfits and make their own music videos. It made the jump from mmd to vrchat because in the early days MMD models were one of the only widely available sources of 3d character models that looked good and had proportions suitable for embodiment in VR. Gamerip models are bad for that. Also, unlike other anime models (like booth models) it has a topology on the face that affords being trivially turned into a western style anime avatar. You can throw a matcap on it and it winds up looking like an anime-ified living creature instead of a drawing. NTA but I own both the new and old chargers on the M3. M3 will actually after several Q3 updates charge on wireless in my experience or at minimum stay power neutral. It was a problem earlier on with the quest 3 but I used the older batteries/cradle for months and never experienced actual battery drain while plugged in. The Q3 on release had issues with power negotiation but as far as I can tell it's completely fixed. The same issue used to happen on link cables as well but it seems fine these days. That said if you can afford it getting the newer strap or the conversion kit imo is worth it because 2x10000 batteries means you're pretty much never running out of juice on wireless ever. I just made the switch recently to the new batteries and it's nice never worrying. Previously I'd use two of the older batteries on the dock they sell and I thought it was a completely acceptable experience though if you were planning to be in vr for 6+ hours then you'd need to alternate charging them and after a long time you'd run dry (usually approaching the 7-8 hour mark). Also keep in mind the charging dock will not work with the old and new batteries and neither will the cradles.

Ignore my previous posts (unless you feel like exploring different options), I don't think it was a good idea. Currently I'm just playing on high settings preset, with AA on high, and then I simply accept blurry AA, I believe that's the best way to do it given that reducing AA introduces horrible, horrible pixelated shimmering trees and surfaces. Of course, feel free to play around and pick your favorite take on it. You can also work around blur to some degree by increasing headset resolution scale, but all in all, I don't think my original idea of trying to play with no AA was a worthwhile route that I can recommend.

But I'd be very grateful if you could try out forcing g-sync and vsync off in nvidia control panel and report back on whether you feel like it reduced minor stutters or not. I did that and I still can't tell if it's a genuine improvement, or just a placebo. I'm pretty sure I've seen frame time spiking in chart until switched those two settings off in nvidia control panel, but no hard promises.

I try to also "develop" new blood into hosting when possible as long as they agree to it. Never forcing, just a single no is enough. The experience does help give them the confidence boost I think, we have different tiers of hosting difficulties depending on the events and for the easier hosting ones it's good to give those who haven't hosted but would like to host a shot.

To the point that it can support full companies like slimeVR and HTC Vive and various other headsets with face and eye tracking just because it exists.

Roblox is a flat game with vastly more years of run time than vrc that made an official vr mod for itself.
I wonder if it has better visuals though for sight seeing worlds. Haven’t played roblox myself.
