As for direct evidence for us, let's just ignore their sources because we can't know if its bullshit anyway. We could point to valve doing software work on steamVR/steamlink, but that cements steam as a platform to play VR games with non-valve hardware, thus they have a good motivation to do so that doesn't bring in existence of valve hardware to explain that.

The moment I was convinced with direct evidence was seeing the code to display a login QR code through the display of an HMD lens. I couldn't think of any other explanation than a device like deckard, except it's an HMD. There's no reason for wireless PCVR/steam link to use that as I currently understand it.

Anyway the point was that regardless of what people think of the vision pro, the battery tether did not damage the product's reputation. The weight of these HMDs are. It was optimism that the industry players are going to do tethers now for all HMDs, not just zucc's AR glasses. It's also a good idea and everyone knows it. I think it was tried too late because of a misunderstanding of risk with consumer acceptance.

The HMDs are too heavy. They need to be at most 350ish grams instead of 600ish. They are also outright bad for desktop use, both in the software stack and visual clarity. Without cheap hi-res headsets, using them for flat games isn't as appealing either because you're playing games in a blurry uncomfortable way that's competing with any VR enhancements you may or may not be using. It looks like valve wants to implement stereoscopy in flat games which would be huge and is needed to justify wearing a headset in the first place. Having a large virtual screen might not be enough, even if the picture is clear.

I think it would be a good idea to ship the modpack with an extended radial menu, if that's possible. What I mean is add stuff like the Voice chat menu, the waypoint manager for the map, etc. Dunno if it's possible to include a radial menu config. are the driving feel/map differences worth going through the 2 pages long guide on getting this game running at 72 fps? (4070ti)
I tried for a couple of hours on my own before just going back to DR2. I couldn't get it stable with reprojection/dlss you name it.
Since I've last tried there's a guide up on the OTHER website (I found through google i didn't go there on purpose) but it looks long and arduous. And I'm new to sim racing anyway so DR2 is still fun and new to me.

I was gonna say skill issue, but I'm gonna still say skill issue but more gently. The electrical anomaly places are hard; the green house and the later forest electrical concrete tower are both extremely hard areas. In my like 40 hours of playing I ONLY go in them if I'm doing the story quest. Elsewise it's pointless. Way too hard for what it is.
My tips for them are to take your time and observe them. First clear the area of mimics and spawns and look at the area. They come in and out of vision so you should mentally map the areas that are safe and those are not. The moving ones are the hardest, map their paths. Don't just rush in. For ones that block the way, you can use a probe to set it off and then there's a 5-10 second cooldown (I have yet to count) where you can run past them (and hopefully not into another one!). You can use this to also detect their radiuses; as the damage zone increases during their activation phase. IE; they zap a larger area over time. Note safe areas between zappers, and use probes to run past them into the next safe area. MOVING ones make this harder, note their paths and don't get blindsided. Another point is that bouncers spawn in these fields and their positioning is semi-random between tides.If you get a REALLY bad bouncer, just wait for the next tide.

Mimics are very hard in ITR2. The biggest thing you'll want to be using is cover. The second thing you will want to use is range. The third is damage. good cover at a good range with good damage and you'll slaughter them no problem. They get hard when you can't use these three things. Early game for example with no long range or high damage weapons; you need cover. Shotguns do high damage so you can get away with less cover and range. If mimics charge, run away to other cover to keep distance.

this is general stuff and mimics have different fighting styles and difficulties based on their type. The most dangerous are the armored types, the machinegunners, and the sniper types. Snipers and armored ones are harder to see since the armor covers parts, and machinegunners just shred the fuck out of you.
Shotgun mimics are actually kinda easy since they don't do much damage and they charge you so you can kill them easily.

Plan every engagement in advance to maximise cover, range and damage as much as you can with what you have and they'll fall like wheat to a scythe.

Oh and don't night fight large groups. It's kinda busted and they will see and shoot you even though it's PITCH FUCKING BLACK AND YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE YOUR OWN FINGERS. There's a mechanic where they will shoot at the last known location so in combat if you can move between cover, do so, but night fights favor mimics over explorers so hard. I usually recommend using nighttime to run around the map and explore no mimic areas like artifact fields. Bumpers are a bit harder to see but if you've got a chest flashlight and some probes you can just take it a bit easy and even pitch-black artifact hunting isn't much harder than daylight.

Understanding this mechanic is the key to fighting lots of mimics at once. You can't just hold behind a tree or small fence anymore because their accuracy, range and rate of fire is so high. Break line of sight and you can safely fire a couple of shots from another position, even if it's only several feet away from the old one.

Hey dumbass all anomalies have a larger damage radius than their activation radius so if you set one off you have to move back. Always have a clear path of retreat when you move through an anomaly field. Moving electric anomalies will stop while they activate and recharge. You can throw a probe at them when they're miles off to make them freeze in place for a while. Going invisible doesn't turn them off.
Those rolls of tape (were called spawns but that's a terrible name so I'm now calling them rollers, don't know what they're actually called in itr2) are way better at hitting moving targets than in 1 so use cover like trees to avoid damage. They are 1-2 shots to kill so double tap right as they stop moving or after their lunge gets them stuck on a tree.
Mimics will fire at your last known location essentially letting you know they have lost sight of you. Always have some kind of cover or at least concealment when facing them. Fire, hide, move, and fire again. If you're really trying to avoid damage then wait until they have lost aggro so they have to wait their 2 seconds of alert time before they start shooting again. Otherwise you should wait for a reload to attack from a flank so they don't instantly snap to you mid burst. They also don't fire while moving and will try to reposition when they are suppressed or flanked, giving you more opportunities to hurt them the more you move and use cover. If you stay in one spot having a plinking match with a crowd of them, you will eventually get hit. Not only that but you will also find they will move into better cover and flank you.

Honestly this game is a patient one. You're supposed to observe and plan before heading in. Everything moves and acts very predictably so it's easy to figure out how to tackle a problem once you get a good view of the area. You just have to actually put in the thought first.

This game is very much CPU, ram and vram bound.
You want a chip with 3D v-cache, they're the best for vrchat at the moment.
Get either an 5800x3D if you're cheap or an 7900x3D if you can afford it, that should give you a good boost.

Also use the vram limiter, not overloading your vram will help performance a lot because Windows will end up using regular ram for vram and that's slow as fuck.
